To be fuming at a group of nurses at my local hospital

I’m 35 weeks pregnant and went to local hospital for blood tests. They’ve moved the maternity bloods so you can go through a separate entrance. When I arrived I got a bit lost but a nice porter helped me find where to go, it wasn’t through the correct route but I still avoided the main hospital.

As I was leaving I didn’t know where to go as I hadn’t come through the new entrance so I followed the signs for the exit, got lost again due to all the changes and saw a group of nurses so asked them how I get out. I followed the exact route they told me only to be met by a security guard who told me I was in the “purple zone” meaning I was in the Covid zone and I should’ve stayed in the green zone. He wished me luck!

What the hell do I do now?!?

I can’t believe I’ve stayed home for 8 weeks for a group of nurses to be the people to put me at risk.

In the nicest possible way I think it’s far more likely that you made a mistake with the directions than that a group of nurses deliberately sent you to the COVID area if that’s what you’re saying you think they did?!

ScarfLadysBag · 04/05/2020 10:06

Did you actually come into sustained close contact with anyone in the purple zone?

Dialdownthedrama · 04/05/2020 10:08

You're fine.

user1495884620 · 04/05/2020 10:09

You may already have been in the purple zone when you met the nurses.

Unravellingslowly · 04/05/2020 10:09

Are you sure purple is Covid because all other settings the Covid area is a red zone because it’s a ‘hot’ zone & red is danger.

If it was a Covid area then , unless you licked anything, you will be fine. Was the security guard actually wearing a mask, gloves, apron & goggles? If not then it’s unlikely to be a hot zone because they wouldn’t have security working in a high risk area without PPE.

peoplewhoannoyyou · 04/05/2020 10:10

It was probably an honest mistake, they are very busy at the moment and probably don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the changing layouts.

Don't worry about it, the chances of getting COVID-19 are slim through the brief contact you'd have had, and I'm sure you'd have used the hand sanitiser gel on offer.

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 04/05/2020 10:10

@DaisylovesDonald they said just go up them stairs or take the lift. I walked up the stairs and bam I was in the purple zone!

No, I didn’t come in contact with anyone, just walked through and paid for my parking ticket.

I think you need to get a grip.

They've either mistakenly given you the wrong directions or you've followed them wrong.

Runmybathforme · 04/05/2020 10:15

Wind your neck in for goodness sake. If the nurses misdirected you, they didn’t do it on purpose, and you were, at no time, put at any risk. Calm down.

AnnofPeeves · 04/05/2020 10:16

To answer your question 'what the hell do I do now', well, assuming you washed your hands afterwards, nothing. What danger do you think you might be in? The parking ticket machine probably had more pathogens on it than you would have picked up in the covid area.

Lynda07 · 04/05/2020 10:18

If you came into no contact with anyone, why worry?

cinammonbuns · 04/05/2020 10:18

Do you think the nurses purposely decided to make you go into the Covid zone? Seriously?

You probably misunderstood the directions. And unless you touched or licked something in there you should be fine.

The nurses didn’t do anything to you

dontdisturbmenow · 04/05/2020 10:21

You won't have gone in the wards, at worse just passed the corridors. Very low risk if you didn't touch anything.

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 04/05/2020 10:24

Thanks for the reassuring responses! For the sarcastic and damn right rude responses thanks for taking the time out your day to upset me further. Clearly I panicked when the security guard said that to me!

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 04/05/2020 10:26

It sounds like you'll be OK @Dingdongthewitchisbread, if you didn't come into contact with anyone. I can understand why you'd be worried though.

Some of the posters here are just down right nasty, there's no need! Ignore them op.

RoryGilmoree · 04/05/2020 10:26

This is a bit of an over reaction although I appreciate you're pregnant and don't want to harm your baby. They surely didn't intend for you to walk through the wrong part. Also FWIW I've walked through those areas for the past 6/7 weeks and not caught covid, it's not waiting to pounce on you. You're likely fine, as long as you washed your hands once you left the hospital. Best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy

SeasonFinale · 04/05/2020 10:28

By your own admission you got lost twice so maybe you didn't follow their directions properly too, the same as you didn't the other two times.

You didn't come into contact with anyone and I assume you washed hands when you got home - so a total non issue.

Or is the mention of 11 nurses supposed to be a nurse bashing thread?

smokescreen · 04/05/2020 10:30

Lol

insancerre · 04/05/2020 10:32

Those nurses are probably having a laugh now at how they have you the wrong directions and sent you into the Covid area
It’s not like they’ve got anything else to do, lives to save or anything

MorganKitten · 04/05/2020 10:33

You’d got lost before, you may have walked through those areas before, you don’t need to be fuming at anyone. It’s a hard time for everyone.

Isadora2007 · 04/05/2020 10:35

Yabu. Sounds more like the security guard was taking the piss with “purple zone” to
Me.

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 04/05/2020 10:35

Yeah I probably have overreacted, I’ll accept that but someone who works at the hospital saying let’s hope you haven’t caught it and wishing you good luck is quite shocking!

@SeasonFinale I’m not sure I can get “walk up them stairs wrong”! I also haven’t mentioned 11 nurses so perhaps stop making your own story up!

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 04/05/2020 10:36

You are blaming nurses for you getting lost (again) Hmm

TARSCOUT · 04/05/2020 10:37

Gosh OP, I'm all for bringing people down to earth with a bump but even I can see why you would be upset. I am sure you will be absolutely fine if you didn't have contact with anyone for any length of time. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

bloodyhellsbellsx · 04/05/2020 10:39

You don’t do anything, you just continue with your life.
