Bouncy castle?

I'm thinking about getting the kids a bouncy castle for DS birthday for the garden. It uses a continuous air flow so a low hum while they use it.
Would only use it in the afternoon time.
AIBU to get one would it annoy neighbours?

Mama

Agree totally... but just not screaming on a bouncy castle...

👍

Yes there’s ‘outside playing having fun’ and then a bouncy castle with associated noise.

One of our neighbours 6 doors away has one. We can hear it in the house and they have it on all afternoon on sunny days. I don't mind hearing children playing but the noise of this motor droning on has sent me indoors many times .

Its like having a neighbour set up an industry in the garden which causes nuisance for several years to come. You can ask your neighbours first but I bet most of them would be too polite to object and be horrified once they realised how noisy it actually is.

We have one. We don't leave it running for long periods and it's not up all the time. They only take about 1 minute to inflate (if that) so you can turn it off if nobody is bouncing for a bit.

They can be very heavy to move.

It may depend on the bounce house because in our experience they haven't been loud at all.

I was going to get one for dds birthday as we wanted a trampoline but couldn't get one anywhere (all out of stock) we did get a bouncy castle in the end but a toddler one as she's only turned 3 so no blower because when I was looking they all said they couldn't be used with an extension lead?? So we wouldn't have been able to have it in our garden (So you couldn't use it on the green anyway) . Does anyone know why they can't be used with an extension lead? Couldn't seem to find the answer online

In the main mowing/strumming and power tools are not used for as long a period as the bouncy castle.

But often one starts, then finishes, then someone else starts, etc so the sound goes on all day!

We had one and I didn’t notice it being overly noisy. To be honest it’s not something you run for hours and hours. Since there is not a queue they can go up and down constantly - they don’t want to do that for hours and hours. To be far we did not have any neighbours - but I would be surprised if your neighbour could hear it in their house.

Oh just get it and don’t worry about the neighbours (and this is coming from somebody with no kids). As long as it’s not all day everyday. A few hours in the afternoon isn’t going to hurt! I’d rather listen to that than all the bloody DIY noises going on in my neighbourhood the last 6 weeks (which I might moan to myself quietly about, but would never actually complain because it’s none of my business what people do in their own homes during daytime hours)
