I’m thinking along the lines of, Tarquin Hector, Giles, Miles , judging by his other children’s names, he likes to be out there in more ways than one😂. His other children’s names are very different Lara Lettice, Cassia peaches, Milo Arthur, Theodore Apollo , could there be a Horatio Starman

I don't know anybody whose mothers surname name is included in their name. Is that common?

The80sweregreat · 02/05/2020 15:21

Had some friends whose girlfriend made sure her children had a double barrel name with her surname first then the dads surname in the 90s. Was a mouth full but good for her I thought!

Dollywilde · 02/05/2020 15:23

Gutted. Due in August and Wilfred is our boys name. Will probably use regardless as it took ages to agree on one but just had a snotty hormonal cry about it and sort of hoping it’s a girl now which I feel dreadful about Sad

GinnyStrupac · 02/05/2020 15:35

We have had it the other way, choosing very rarely used names only for someone in the public eye to choose them later. It is momentarily disappointing because they do become slightly more used and there is that slight connection whether you want it or not. In the grand scheme of things it matters not a jot because he will be your one. Just use the names you love. Baby-Boris might well be known as Laurie anyway.

EightNineTen · 02/05/2020 15:45

I love the name Wilfred, generally a great lover of these kind of names. I'd love an Aethelred!

Oakmaiden · 02/05/2020 17:10

@blueskys72

That was my first thought too - soooo much hair!

Since that is pretty much all we can see of the baby in that picture, it makes it look more like she is cuddling a toddler - really not used to seeing babies with such mops. But then, look at dad...

Don't like the name much but Wilf is even worse. I immediately think of Wilfred Bramble and then, of course, of Steptoe.

All that hair! I think babies with lots of hair look really strange and spooky. He looks pretty big so presumably not premature!

MarshaBradyo · 02/05/2020 17:19

I had a look at the pic, very cute. I can’t see much but he looks like a baby Boris. Bet he’ll have mad blonde hair.

GinnyStrupac · 02/05/2020 17:48

One of mine was born with hair. It was quite a shock but lovely. Boris was not the daddy.

Lordfrontpaw · 02/05/2020 17:52

@YetiAnotherNameChange it’s not that uncommon in Scotland to have mums maiden name as a middle name and my brothers first name is a variation of mums maiden name.

It’s not exactly a bonny name but I like names with meanings for the family.

Whatsgoingonrightnow · 02/05/2020 17:54

@Dollywilde you’re not alone! I’m due in July, we don’t know the sex and have struggled to agree on a boys name. This was the only boys name we both agreed on really but we’re not fans of Bojo at all.

SwedishEdith · 02/05/2020 17:58

I must admit, I thought it was photoshopped when I first saw it. Looks like Stanley - that high bridge of the nose.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 02/05/2020 18:50

I think Wilfred is lovely. @Elderflower14 I immediately thought of your Wilf.

j712adrian · 02/05/2020 18:53

Patrick Magoohan.

Number 6.

Dollywilde · 02/05/2020 19:38

@Whatsgoingonrightnow are you going to go for a different name now? I’ve perked up a bit after having a general Wilfred/pregnant during coronavirus/DH fucked up putting a shelf up in the kitchen and I now have a hole in my kitchen wall sob/grump this afternoon Blush but not totally sure what to do.

In the grand scheme of things I know it’s not a big deal and in a few years it’ll won’t be notable at all but my fears are:

  1. increased popularity - looked at the ONS and Florence went from 80-odd to 30-odd after David Cameron had his
  2. everyone going ‘oh, like Boris’s?’ when we announce the birth
  3. people thinking we’re massive Tories 😂 (mostly joking, I’ve got friends from across the political spectrum but I’d be mortified if acquaintances thought that we’d done it because we just loved BoJo so much!)

PP made a good point about how PM kids aren’t in the public eye years later unlike royal babies but the above still weighing on my mind....

Am now over this idea but did turn to DH mid-grump and propose a private sex scan so I could mentally prepare!

Dollywilde · 02/05/2020 19:38

On the plus side all my friends have been mentioning over WhatsApp what a nice name it is so at least I know their true feelings on it Grin

Whatsgoingonrightnow · 02/05/2020 19:42

We’re hoping it’s a girl because we like quite a few girls names where as Wilfred is the only boys name we really both agree on. I have the same worries as you really, I’m not sure whether people will still make the link in a couple of months or not but I wouldn’t like it at all!

Dollywilde · 02/05/2020 19:44

@whatsgoingonrightnow same! We have about 10 girl names we both adore but we’d already joked that if it were a boy we’d have to stop at one child, because Wilfred was the only name we liked.. Confused
