I caveat by saying I don't know if he will or not!!!

Given the current situation, I think his paternity leave needs to wait

Doesn't he live at his actual work? Surely he just needs to go downstairs every now and again?

Janaih · 29/04/2020 13:41

Doubt he has any interest in paternity leave. Probably pissed off he has to compete with a baby for Carrie's attention now.

Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 13:42

As PPs have said he's delaying it so you can stop worrying.

Biscuit0110 · 29/04/2020 13:43

he’s not in sole charge of the country. It won’t grind to a halt without him at the wheel

I disagree, he is the only one that can take the big decisions. He is the one ultimately responsible. No one else can pull the trigger on the exit plans or the lockdowns, or the next steps. Carrie has no doubt been through it, but what PM's wife hasn't. Samantha Cameron actually lost a child whilst they were in office. Cherie Blair had to deal with many a crisis in their family. It comes with the job. I am sure she will have plenty of help and support, but he must focus on the most important crossroads of our lifetime, and that is critical now.

HappyHammy · 29/04/2020 13:43

Give the guy a break. Its been reported he is delaying leave. Why cant people just wish them all good health and happiness instead of being bitchy.

Tellmetruth4 · 29/04/2020 13:44

I don’t like him but it’s important he takes it. He needs to show businesses that paternity leave is important. He has cover and it’s only a couple of weeks. He’s been off sick for about a month anyway so it won’t make much difference if he goes off again for 2 weeks.

peperethecat · 29/04/2020 13:44

I think he should postpone it. Carrie chose to get pregnant by the serving prime minister. She would have known this sort of thing was a possibility.

BeautyinAutumn · 29/04/2020 13:45

Why call him Bojo? Makes him sound like a friendly jolly character.
He's not. He's abusive towards women, has been involved in domestic violence, decided to support Brexit for his own gain. He's sinister not your mate

JamieLeeCurtains · 29/04/2020 13:47

Whether he's on paternity leave or not, how could we tell?

HappyHammy · 29/04/2020 13:49

He has postponed leave. Its all over the media.

x2boys · 29/04/2020 13:50

He is delaying it pep.as has been stated several times on this thread now 🙄whatever he does posters will have a dig aside being clearly demonstrated on this thread .

LastTrainEast · 29/04/2020 13:53

"has been involved in domestic violence" BeautyinAutumn, Are you referring to the time neighbours complained about the noise?

InfiniteSheldon · 29/04/2020 13:57

The time Left wing activists harassed them out of their home and filed reports with the Guardian and the Police in that order now twisted to be 'domestic violence'. Shameful.

grindergirl · 29/04/2020 13:57

I'm sure it won't take that long to sign up the child for Eton. He was elected to do an important job. Not faff about changing nappies

mumsmas1 · 29/04/2020 13:59

He has had enough ( some would say too much) time off already if he cant do the job ( which it seems he cant unless its just to make speeches and pretend to be churchill) he should be removed and replaced with a full time working PM who can actually make decisions

mumsmas1 · 29/04/2020 14:00

@JamieLeeCurtains spot on

Biscuit0110 · 29/04/2020 14:01

I am really happy that their baby is safely here, I am extremely relieved that Boris has come through the coronavirus so he could be here to welcome his little baby into the world. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about.
Carrie needs to move in some help whilst he steers the country through the pandemic, and I am very glad he has taken the sensible decision of publicly announcing delaying his paternity leave. There will be plenty of time in the future to enjoy his child when the country isn't sinking under a crisis. I wish them both the very best. Onwards and upwards. A baby is a joy in all the gloom!

RoyalCorgi · 29/04/2020 14:02

Can't see it matters either way. He was useless at handling the coronavirus crisis, now he can be useless at being the father of a newborn.

Biscuit0110 · 29/04/2020 14:04

Just wanted to say it is a shame he was so ill for so long and had to take so much time off recently, had he not been so seriously ill then a few days with Carrie and the baby probably would have been fine.

The timing could not be worse for them both lets face it, (can you imagine the reaction of the aides having just got him back in No 10!) but most importantly the baby is here and is healthy and well, Boris made it through Covid and now he will hopefully lead us out of this hellish lockdown.

Winegumlover · 29/04/2020 14:06

I knew when the baby was born, Mumsnet would be a cesspit. The left are truly vile

deydododatdodontdeydo · 29/04/2020 14:07

We've managed without him for how many weeks now?
I think we can manage without.

LesLavandes · 29/04/2020 14:07

Biscuit. You speak a lot of sense.

Boris is still working. He has said so. I am sure he will find time to spend with them. Carrie will have plenty of help

deydododatdodontdeydo · 29/04/2020 14:09

The left are truly vile

"the left" Grin
A catch all for anyone who doesn't agree with you.

Foxglade · 29/04/2020 14:11

@crispysausagerolls she wasn't so pregnant in March. She said at the end of March that she was five months gone. The baby is quite early.

Foxglade · 29/04/2020 14:11

Sorry - at the end of FEB she said she was five months gone!
