AIBU to ask about the creepiest thing that has ever happened to you that you cannot explain?

I realise threads like these have probably been done to death but I am super bored and struggling to find anything to watch/read.

No, I did ask that question and she recalls he said they had been married for a long time, since before the death on the stone. Also his name wasn't actually Bob, it is not a common name then or now. So unlikely that two husbands had that name.

One night when I was around 16/17 I was staying round a mate’s house. Her parents were away so it was just me, her, and a couple of other mates. The house itself was quite old (built early 1800s) and had a very odd feel. I don’t think the way it was built helped. Think very long narrow hallways, narrow rickety staircases ect. My mate’s dog flatly refused to go upstairs.

Anyway, during the night I woke up needing the toilet. Left the bedroom and walked towards the bathroom (which of course was at the end of a very long hallway...) and I noticed it was FREEZING. Icy cold. I felt like something was watching me but put it down to just psyching myself up.

Finished in the toilet and was washing my hands when I heard a very faint whistle. Not the whistle of pipes or the boiler, but someone whistling a tune. It started off very faint but gradually got louder and louder as if whoever was whistling was coming closer. Needless to say I was completely terrified! I froze in fear until the whistling abruptly stopped, and then I threw the bathroom door open and sprinted down the hallway and back into the bedroom as fast as I could.

Initially I thought my mates might have been playing a prank, but they were all still fast asleep and snoring! Needless to say I didn’t sleep the rest of the night. I mentioned it to my mate the next day and she said she and her parents had all heard the whistling before too.

This was years ago and it still gives me chills to recollect it!

I know nobody has posted here in a while but this just happened and I immediately thought of this thread.

Started hearing noises downstairs while everyone is in bed. Thought one of DDs make have snuck up and started playing with the iPad. It sounded like something was playing downstairs.

Couldn't see anything in DDs' room so went downstairs to see if the TV had turned on somehow. Noise gets louder and clearer. A couple of women singing something like Happy Birthday and laughing. I get to the TV (open plan downstairs but the TV is against a wall leading to a few steps to the front door if that makes sense. From the stairs to the second level of the house, you have to walk past the front door and around that wall).

The TV wasn't on. Suddenly the laughing stops. Deadly silent. Just work DH up to check downstairs for me. Both doors locked. Nobody down there. He thinks it came from outside or was the downstairs neighbor but in the year we've loved here, I've never heard that. And the sound was in the living room, as if coming from the TV.

Of course, Inger back to bed and my book lamp turns on by itself. Not sure I'll sleep well tonight!

Something happened only a couple of days ago. I was out in the back garden in the evening, it takes me about half an hour to water everything in the front and back garden. Doing this nearly every evening at the moment as it's so warm and dry.

I had been round the front of the house and down the bottom of the garden, to the raised bed, the greenhouse and was just finishing up on the patio, in a very relaxed frame of mind.

I felt as if someone jumped to the side of me, like as if someone landed next to me, as if to say "Hi!" or "Boo!" I thought it was my eleven year old daughter, as it seemed like someone almost my height but a bit shorter. Of course there was no-one there, and I didn't see anything, just felt a sensation. It wasn't frightening at all, I just thought "Oh!" and carried on with what I was doing, went inside and both daughters were upstairs on their computers.

I've had that a couple of times @Graciebobcat. It's weird isn't it? You can feel something sort of in the air but can't see or hear anything. One time, there was a smell of perfume as well Confused

No idea what causes it, probably a sudden change in air pressure or something....

I was sorting dinner a couple of weeks ago and I could hear my toddler giggling in the next room, like hysterically giggling and I went in to see what he was laughing at and he was rolling around on the floor like somebody was tickling him, he wasn't just laughing on the floor, when I tickle him he sort of puts his chin into his chest and he was doing the exact same thing... so strange he's only 17 months old though so he can't even tell me... so strange though

@exiledfromcornwall This has happened to me loads!!

Lemon27 · 26/05/2020 14:02

That’s happened to my toddler too @JustAddCoffee91, I’ve been in bed and on his monitor I can hear him in his cot giggling and cooing as if someone is talking to him and tickling him. I like to think it’s one of his great grandparents. DH’s cousins little boy used to tell them he was playing with ‘Jimmy’ when he was a toddler, who was DH’s grandad and by all accounts a lovely man who was great with kids.

My almost 11 week old laughs in his sleep too, most noticeably last night full on giggles that he hasn’t done to us in awake time, but is doing in his sleep? So not sure if he’s dreaming or someone visiting and tickling him too Smile

The creepy woodlands story is the Savernake Forest story, it makes the hairs stand on the back of my neck everytime I read it.

I was around 12 years old, I was in my room doing my homework, My mum had nipped out to the shop so I was on my own. It went from totally quiet to a loud booming male voice literally shouting at me to get out. That's all it said, Get out, So I did. I ran out of my room and sat at the bottom of the stairs, two minutes later my mum was home. Sounds crazy but it came from my wardrobe. Mum had a look around, Nobody there, Nothing out of place. I quickly forgot about it.

Recently I visited my mum, She still lives in the same house, The above story came up and we talked about it and how strange it was. Mum told me to download one of those apps on my phone that picks up 'ghost voices' just for a laugh. We walked through the house, huddled together, Nothing anywhere, I walked into my old room and a voice came out of my phone over the static telling me to leave. I'm now 40 and you better believe I left.

Buggeredpelvicfloor2013 · 05/10/2020 16:09

Fast asleep one night a few years back. All of a sudden I heard a male voice literally shout my name so loud it woke me and DH up. As we sat up there was an almighty banging noise and every drawer on our bedside tables flung itself open. Crapped us up so much we moved out a few weeks later!! Will never forget that night and stay well away from that house and that street even now.

@thebreezethebreeze Why did you laugh at my pp, 5 years after it was posted? If you don't believe in this stuff just scroll past. Troll.
