Chicken kiev

Very lighthearted!

I've just had chicken kiev for dinner and have been left very disappointed!
It got me thinking surely I can't be the only person who finds this annoying!
Yet again, hardly ANY garlic butter 😲 why is this?! I've tried from pretty much everywhere and am yet to find one that oozes with the yummy garlic butter like they do on the packaging! I feel very deceived 🤣
Has anybody else noticed this first world problem?!

YABU - stop being so greedy and enjoy you dry chicken kiev

YANBU - start a petition to get those kievs filled and oozing with the yummy garlicky goodness they deserve!

I am most definitely going to try making some low carb kievs, we're always on the lookout for new meals to try and sometimes we can get a bit predictable and boring!

Thanks for the tips 😁

YABVU for suggesting this is a light hearted issue when it is clearly of great importance. Also very unreasonable because I want a Kiev now Grin

Cops own brand fresh ones are yummy. Now I want them but the coop isn’t a big enough shop for our weekly shop so I haven’t being going there.

These are lovely From Tesco. Made with whole chicken breasts. 🤤

yabvu to mention chicken kievs when I can't get out shopping... just one of those things I am craving that I never ate for decades when I could, now I can't....

After a lot of trial and error (I'm a bit obsessed!) the expensive Sainsbury's and Waitrose whole breast ones are the best.

A pp mentioned the Tesco whole chicken ones - no knocking the quality but for me I don't like the texture on the crumb on those since they changed the recipe a couple of years ago.

Nothing more disappointing than minimal butter. Well, except when they get heavy handed with the herbs and it's a "herby kiev" rather than a garlic one!!

Yes, Tesco and M and S whole breast ones are lovely. We usually have the bog- standard Tesco ones. I cook them about 5 mins less and leave them for 5 mins to soak up the leaked butter. Obviously check they are hot throughout. I like mine with potato waffles covered in beans and cheese, then melted. Yum!

I have nothing to add, OP, but this is my kind of AIBU and I salute you

Sainsbury’s best I’ve found

Subeccoo · 28/04/2020 08:03

Did anyone else used to buy those bags of Bernard Matthews mini kievs from Iceland and eat at least 8 on their own as a snack Blush

@BurningGubbins

You truly are a genius .
Your top tip also has the added bonus of stopping the oven tray from becoming too mucky/garlicky.
