Spotted in a magazine. What fresh hell is this?! AIBU to think you’re a selfish entitled shit if you erect an outdoor cinema screen in your garden?!

We had a cinema night in the garden once. We didn't have any nearby neighbours.

beebeedandelion · 26/04/2020 10:46

We've been known to do it but only because our TV is by the garden doors so we can sit on the garden benches and watch, that said we only do it with things like tennis and cricket (so not right now) where the sound isn't needed. I wouldn't be too bother if our neighbours did it as long as the screen was on their fence and not above it so we couldn't see it and they used headphones.

It’s a lovely idea but I think you would need to consider noise and your neighbours, this depends on where you live.

The main trouble with this is you need both fine weather and for it to be dark, meaning in the summer this would be going on much later then a BBQ or children’s party would.

Don't be so obtuse refuse... It obviously means it is not going to be a solitary person sat it their garden by themselves watching an outdoor cinema, it will likely be a group of people who are not likely to sit together with headphones on. If you are going to sit in silence as a group with headphones on watching a film in your garden then you won't be causing an issue, I don't believe that this will be the majority though.

I thought thats what you meant but I wasn’t sure...which is why i said I didn’t understand

You could of course invite the neighbours to join you, some neighbours might actually enjoy it.

newyearnoeu · 26/04/2020 11:11

Headphones on - no issues, can't see why there would be.

No headphones - fine, feel free to use all the excuses used by pp's above about how it's their garden, others are miserable, it's fine up until anti-social hours, etc. As long as you accept by the same reasoning that if your neighbours do get fed up at your film making such a noise that they can't enjoy their gardens in peace, then you can't complain if they decide to leave their dog barking/invite mates over for a party/start having loud sweary arguments/whack their music on so suddenly you can't hear your film. After all, they can do what they want in their own garden, right?

IHaveAMagicBean · 26/04/2020 11:12

Great idea, as long as you use headphones and don’t pump the sound out to all your neighbours.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 26/04/2020 11:21

I cannot guarantee that a loud film late in the evening won’t set my dogs off. They have a very loud bark, and they are usually very well behaved but if they get barking whose fault would that be?

Life is so much easier when everyone remembers that noise carries a lot more than they think. One loud outside TV event can spoil a quiet evening for at least six or seven and possibly more of your neighbours, at least the way houses are here in London.

Refus 😂😂 sorry completely misread!
