“Place marking” isn’t necessary!

Does everyone know there is an option to “watch” a thread?
It’s really quite tedious scrolling through pages of non-comments from people who are interested but don’t have anything to say.
Not to mention if it is a popular or long-running thread, which goes over the post limit, subsequent threads get filled up ever more quickly with the constant “place marking”.
Just select “watch this thread”!

Yes! Also the ‘didn’t want to read and run OP’ and literally nothing from that poster ever again

*You know what's really quite tedious?

Yet ANOTHER thread whinging about this!! Beyond your wit to post on one of the many already there???*

But no-one is obliged to read or comment on threads they don't like. I don't mind this thread at all because many people don't know how this antiquated site works and it might stop some of the endless placemarking threads that I have to skim through to find the ones that are worth reading.

That's the problem with an out of date forum, people don't know how to use it in an up to date world of websites that are well maintained and you know - work.

Mumsnet getting a lot of crap for being behind the times just lately. I quite like some aspects of that, certainly that it does not track what I’m reading. No one else’s need-to-know.

Place marking with just a full stop is bloody rude. Say something if you have something to contribute otherwise stop rubber necking.

FYI (I am not the boss of MN and don't think I am!):
On a thread title, swipe left to get Watch, Hide, Share
On a specific post, swipe left to get Bookmark, Report, Share
HTH!

MissOrganisedMe · 25/04/2020 19:17

How do you remove a bookmark? Anyone know? Thanks.

Davros · 25/04/2020 20:10

Yes. Swipe left again and Unbookmark or set another one

MissOrganisedMe · 26/04/2020 00:24

@Davros thanks

Would you believe, I am just going back to using the website sometimes, having only used the app for a few years. I can't work out how to do lots of things, including bookmarking! I've also asked them to enable the Favourites option which I find invaluable in the app. Having felt like a bit of an expert I now feel a bit useless! Any top tips for website use greatly appreciated
