OMFG do not go out

If you have a cough, as innocuous as you might think it is! Why are you out? Just walked on my daily walk for about half an hour. 3 people walking past in safe distance all coughing 🤨 what the hell is wrong with people 😞

OP posts:
Clutterbugsmum · 24/04/2020 22:33

@OkMaybeNot, Me too, I can't take any antihistamines either. Even if I take the drowsy ones the night before I still feel woosy the next day. And the non drowsy ones make violently Ill.

CaveyWavey · 24/04/2020 22:33

Why are you out on a daily walk if you are so paranoid? If you don't like it, stay in. My hay fever has kicked in and I'm coughing. I'm not staying indoors for that. I've probably had the virus in February, although no tests available.

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 24/04/2020 22:34

DS who is 7 coughs when he goes outside because the running around sets his asthma off.

It makes people move out of his way pretty quickly. It's like a super power Grin

Talulahoopla · 24/04/2020 22:36

I always cough after a run. Normally just one or two to clear my throat, especially if it's hot and dusty. Spent my post-run Tesco trip about to burst holding in my cough for fear of being frowned upon and banished by others.

StrawberryJam200 · 24/04/2020 22:36

@GrimmsFairytales thanks so much for that link and evidence, I was really doubting myself.

I find it quite worrying that the government keep changing the advice and not telling anyone.

SpaceCadet4000 · 24/04/2020 22:37

Think past yourself OP. There are a multitude of non-infectious reasons to have a cough. Like the allergies that leave me coughing through spring and summer each year.

Sh05 · 24/04/2020 22:38

My dad has a chronic cough from working on the mills in the 70s and early 80s. It is a very dry cough, constant and relentless.
When this pandemic started he stopped going out as much because of peoples reactions. Since lockdown he is rarely out because although he is very well known in the neighborhood passers by who don't know him hear a persistant dry cough and judge

1Morewineplease · 24/04/2020 22:39

I suffer with catarrh , should I stay indoors so as not to freak people out?

OkMaybeNot · 24/04/2020 22:40

@Clutterbugsmum it's so annoying, isn't it.

"Why are your eyes puffy?"
"Because I have allergies"
"Can't you take a pill?"
"Not if I want to look after my kids today, no"

People don't really believe me but I definitely wouldn't live with these symptoms if I didn't have to.

MotheringShites · 24/04/2020 22:41

It’s fucking hay fever season. If you are so terrified of people who have seasonal allergies then you stay inside.

I’m done with it all.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 24/04/2020 22:41

Stop being so melodramatic! I'm asthmatic & have hideous hay fever, as well as other allergies. I spend most of time coughing despite medication. I'm not going to stop going out just because you can't think of any reason other than Covid 19 why people might be coughing Angry

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 24/04/2020 22:46

I've had a cough since 1979. Asthma, allergies and hay-fever. Got to admit I am completely paranoid about coughing or sneezing in public now. I cross the street if I see anyone remotely near because of their reactions.

NoMoreDickheads · 24/04/2020 22:47

As with PP's, I'm asthmatic and I have a persistent cough and have done for years.

People are only told to stay in if they have a cough/type of cough they don't usually have.

It does make me self-conscious when out now if I have to cough.

My cough isn't harming anyone and I'm not breaking any rules if I go out.

I'm still going to go out as I have just as much right to as anyone else.

Sorry (not sorry) if that offends.Angry

WhereYouLeftIt · 24/04/2020 22:48

OMFG, get a grip.

NotSorry · 24/04/2020 22:49

OMFG just stop with these ridiculous threads

maggiso · 24/04/2020 22:51

The pollen count is high at the moments- this sets my asthma and cough off. It’s an allergic cough.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 24/04/2020 22:51

I'll have to make sure I "shelter in place" every time anything goes down the wrong way then....Good job I'm a natural introvert, eh!

papiermaches · 24/04/2020 22:51

Asthmatic? Allergies? Dry throat?
If you are that worried then You should control what you can - how often you go out and where you go.

IHaveAMagicBean · 24/04/2020 22:51

It’s hay fever season. You are being rediculous!

Willow2017 · 24/04/2020 22:52

For fucks sake not another of these threads!
Where do people get of shouting at other people to do as they tell them? How did they function in normal life before Covid? How will they function after without being 'the boss of everyone'?

I think Hopefulworker is worried about catching Covid, not about people with hay fever and other conditions.
She’s talking about people who have become ill relatively recently with a cough. These people shouldn’t be out because it’s possible they could spread the virus.

How the hell is she to know why somebody is coughing from a 20 second encounter from 2+m away?
She is just judging everyone on what she perceives to be 'a cough' therefor its 'the cough'.

I have to work to feed my kids. I have hay fever, I sometimes have to clear my throat or sneeze I do it into my tissue or elbow. Get over yourself OP I am not staying at home on some randoms say so.

Maybe op should stay at home during hay fever season as there are a lot more of us than there are of her, add to that all the other medical reasons for having a cough and she could meet any number of us outdoors. If she is that worried that could be her answer instead of trying to tell a huge % of the population to stay indoors just for her!

SonjaMorgan · 24/04/2020 22:55

Sometimes I inhale and choke on my own saliva. Best stay indoors for life.

kevintheorangecarrot · 24/04/2020 22:58

I suffer from post nasal drip from this dreadful allergy season and that makes me cough quite a bit (very tickly throat). I always wear a mask when I'm out in public (I only go to work and to the supermarket once a week).

Frequency · 24/04/2020 23:02

I have to go out though. I'm a care worker and I don't think my employer, my service users or the people at Universal Credit once I was fired would be happy with me saying, "Sorry, can't come in today, I walked past a cat/woman with a half a bottle of perfume on/some grass/a shop was a bit dusty and it triggered an asthma attack," every shift until this is over.

SpillTheTea · 24/04/2020 23:02

Yes, because every single person who coughs has coronavirus Hmm I got a tickle in my throat when on a walk and had to cough. I suppose I'll never go out again for fear of the dreaded tickle.

cacaca · 24/04/2020 23:03

OMFG calm the fuck down. Maybe everybody should just never ever leave the house on the off chance they may need to cough. Maybe you swallow some saliva and it does down the wrong way - I’ll just choke on it shall it. Coughing does not immediately mean coronavirus.
