Weirdly the story has now disappeared from the BBC since I saw it this morning, but basically. Donald Trump is suggesting UV treatment and injecting disinfectant as a means to kill COVID.

Obviously most know he’s a lunatic, but enough support him to keep him in power, and people will take this advice seriously and will surely inevitably die as a result.

Thing is, there seems no way to stop him. if he gets back into power, which he undoubtedly will, then they have another four years of this, in which case the stability of the country is in serious danger.

But if he doesn’t get in I predict serious unrest and even wonder whether the states could end up in civil war.

Either way it’s not a place I would want to be going right now.

It’s obviously easy to laugh at trump from the sidelines, but people are having to live under this....

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Was just informed that the Fake News from the Thursday White House Press Conference had me speaking & asking questions of Dr. Deborah Birx. Wrong, I was speaking to our Laboratory expert, not Deborah, about sunlight etc. & the CoronaVirus. The Lamestream Media is corrupt & sick!

THE PRESIDENT: Here we go. The new — the new headline is: “Trump Asks People to go Outside. That’s Dangerous.” Here we go. Same old group. You ready? I hope people enjoy the sun. And if it has an impact, that’s great. I’m just hearing this — not really for the first time. I mean, there’s been a rumor that — you know, a very nice rumor — that you go outside in the sun, or you have heat and it does have an effect on other viruses.

But now we get it from one of the great laboratories of the world. I have to say, it covers a lot more territory than just this. This is — this is probably an easy thing, relatively speaking, for you.

I would like you to speak to the medical doctors to see if there’s any way that you can apply light and heat to cure. You know — but if you could. And maybe you can, maybe you can’t. Again, I say, maybe you can, maybe you can’t. I’m not a doctor. But I’m like a person that has a good you know what.

Q But, sir, you’re the President.

THE PRESIDENT: Deborah, have you ever heard of that? The heat and the light, relative to certain viruses, yes, but relative to this virus?

DR. BIRX: Not as a treatment. I mean, certainly fever —

THE PRESIDENT: Yeah.

DR. BIRX: — is a good thing. When you have a fever, it helps your body respond. But not as — I’ve not seen heat or (inaudible).

THE PRESIDENT: I think it’s a great thing to look at. I mean, you know. Okay?

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 25/04/2020 21:46

It's painful..

Alleycat1 · 25/04/2020 21:48

Every time Trump says/does something daft I receive loads of messages from ex-in-laws and friends in the USA all saying words to the effect....Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him. I am so embarrassed, what must the rest of the world think etc. I feel so sorry for them.
I agree with previous posters that he must have some sort of problem with joined up thinking, or perhaps he is just plain thick.

TrishTeres · 25/04/2020 22:19

I think YABU. A lot of Americans pity us. The Americans I know put first their need for a president who will support them not to fund abortion providors.

Also other great decisions like this one:

conservativewoman.co.uk/we-must-follow-trump-and-cut-off-the-who-cash/

He makes a lot of off the cuff statements ill advisedly I would agree but people are tired of smooth talkers who are rhetoric perfect but have not thought about what middle and working class people are going through.

Youmakemewannashout · 25/04/2020 22:47

Trish Teres: ‘He makes a lot of off the cuff statements I’ll advisedly I would agree but people are tired of smooth talkers who are rhetoric perfect .......’

Well, you’ve got the top prize there Trish Teres, you should find Trump’s incoherent ramblings amazingly satisfying ‘cos they could NEVER be described as ‘smooth’.

MiddleAgedBlokeHere · 25/04/2020 22:57

In the UK we first started becoming properly aware of Trump when he ran for the Republican nomination.
At the time I came the to conclusion that he was a sociopath.
It has become obvious that he actually fits the bill for being a fully blow psychopath.
He ticks every box in the Hare Test.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopathy_Checklist

Voice0fReason · 25/04/2020 22:59

He is in no way suggesting that we inject ourselves with disinfectant.

@harvestsquirrel1
His exact words were:
“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that? Like injection inside or almost a cleaning because, you see, it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number in the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”

So yes, he was suggesting injecting disinfectant.

nolongersurprised · 25/04/2020 23:04

He makes a lot of off the cuff statements ill advisedly I would agree but people are tired of smooth talkers who are rhetoric perfect but have not thought about what middle and working class people are going through.

Which policies has Trump personally championed that help the middle class and working class people?

The “he tells it like it is” crew don’t really mean that his speech is clear and goal-directed because the transcripts are just word-salad. They like him because of his racism and xenophobia and he validates their own prejudices.

I’d love to be proved wrong though with evidence of the way his policies have supported those who are struggling.

cybercontroller · 25/04/2020 23:06

@TrishTeres

So safe legal abortion = bad.

Injecting bleach = good.

Klonda · 25/04/2020 23:12

I think the fact that he's too stupid to form sentences actually helps Trump, it lets Fox News, his allies and supporters to interpret and reinterpret what he meant (see, for example, explanations in this thread about what Trump really meant with the disinfectant/light comments, which have been somewhat undermined by Trump coming out and saying he was being sarcastic).

DreamTheMoors · 25/04/2020 23:28

USA here. An emergency room in New York posted that overdoses & poisonings from Clorox & Lysol went way up after Trump’s bonkers ramblings on disinfectants.
At this point in his presidency, only nutty MAGA people listen to him. He’s told 18,000 documented lies in 3&1/2 years.
Can’t wait until he’s voted out of office in November 2020, and a new, sane president takes office in January 2021.
He’s a malignant narcissist. But this “disinfectant” craziness is probably the straw that breaks the camel’s back. He even decided to cut short his “COVID-19 mini MAGA rallies” (crappily disguised as COVID-19 updates each day) on tv - despite the fact he craves attention.
People are psyched to get out and vote - against Trump. I’m praying the MAGA voters will wise up as well, but they’re drowning in Koolaid so I don’t hold much hope for them. I’m praying the apathetic people who didn’t vote in 2016 have learned their lesson.

DreamTheMoors · 25/04/2020 23:30

@nolongersurprised

You can’t be proved wrong when you’re EXACTLY RIGHT.

You hit the nail squarely on the head.

DreamTheMoors · 25/04/2020 23:34

@TrishTeres

Speak for yourself and the other narrow-minded MAGAs.

You don’t speak for me, nor the vast majority of other Americans, so STOP ACTING LIKE IT.

Smellbellina · 25/04/2020 23:58

The “he tells it like it is” crew don’t really mean that his speech is clear and goal-directed because the transcripts are just word-salad. They like him because of his racism and xenophobia and he validates their own prejudices.

Well that succinctly hit the nail on the head.

Rachel709 · 26/04/2020 00:00

Well we have to live under a moronic right wing government, although Johnson seems to have disappeared as usual.

Harvestsquirrel1 · 26/04/2020 01:37

Voice of reason, he was suggesting We find a medication that would clean up the virus. It was poorly worded. “Something like that”, he said. Not, let’s use Lysol!

Catsinthecupboard · 26/04/2020 03:12

26 million Mexican immigrants are illegally in US. Many vote illegally, collect medical care and receive free education.

Obama put into law a poorly written law that gives illegal people with children more "rights" so many children are sold or stolen to accompany illegals who are not related. They are put into custody to protect them. Countries have borders. Many countries have point systems abt who can come in.

There are Rape Trees along the border decorated with victim's underwear to warn the victims of their many horrible fates.
MANY legal Mexican Americans do not appreciate illegals.

I spoke to my friend who works in a detention center and she said many are grateful to be there bc it is a safe place.

American Angel Moms are mothers whose children/child was killed by an illegal who was not imprisoned or punished. My grandmother was killed by an illegal.

President Trump has been misquoted and mocked by foreign owned media since he announced his candidacy. Before then, he was courted by them to run. He did not think we should go to war in the middle East.

Mar-a-lago was the FIRST country club in the area to court and have non-white and non-Christian members. He banned Epstein.

McKinsey is a corporation that has encouraged H1Bs, outsourcing, opioid infusion in population, offshore manufacturing and predatory banking practices. Trump ran as their antithesis.

He is not antisemitic, homophobic, xenophobic or racist. Many Blacks and Hispanics like him. His mentor was gay. His daughter is Jewish. His mother was Scottish and 2/3 wives foreign born.

He has an Ivy League degree. He is not an idiot and he responds to insults. But i have never seen him start a fight.

Liking or disliking someone bc of their race is racist. Disliking a person bc of their religion is wrong. Even if they are Christians.

He is a fierce champion of underprivileged people. He does not believe in generational poverty. He is the ONLY president in my lifetime to try to bring back jobs. For the last 30 years, we have lost them and Obama said (laughing!!!!) They were gone forever.

I will delete my account now. But I thought carefully before I posted this. I know that Americans are not beloved here, so I did not say that I am. But reading abt feeling sorry for Americans bc of him made me realize that I do not belong here.

I do not belong to any political party, I am part minority and a nondenominatinal Christian who does not belong to a church. But I am not welcome bc he is my preferred president.

Democrats who bring in illegal voters, who harvest votes, who are thrilled to give our jobs (professional, medical down through field workers) to non-Americans as well our places in colleges and universities FOR FREE, while we lose our jobs, homes and lives, not bc we are not qualified, but bc others are cheaper and vote for democrats are the problem. Both parties are awful. Trump is an independent politician.

He is the man who is trying to help us get jobs, working with inner cities to rebuild, now he is trying to use rebuilding our infrastructure as a way to bring back our economy.

He did NOT seriously say that we need to inject ourselves with bleach. In fact, I watched the program. A reporter asked him and he said ABSOLUTELY not.

It has been fun here. But, I am an independent Christian American who believes in legal immigration, jobs, and human dignity. The people who are admired here are violent. They believe that they have the right to hit anyone (no matter race, religion, sexual orientation ) with hardened cement "milkshakes." My dc cannot wear a Trump hat or say they support him without fear of violence.
Trump supporters don't harm others. Belief in your moral superiority is not permission to hurt others. No matter whose side you are on.

Raccoon2020vision · 26/04/2020 03:13

@Rachel709 I wouldn't worry, I'd be very surprised if the next Tudor (aka Gove) isn't stepping up to the plate before too long, with the assistance of the Kingmaker General.... Wink

nolongersurprised · 26/04/2020 03:53

He is a fierce champion of underprivileged people. He does not believe in generational poverty. He is the ONLY president in my lifetime to try to bring back jobs. For the last 30 years, we have lost them and Obama said (laughing!!!!) They were gone forever.

What has Trump done in the last 4 years to help underprivileged people? Please outline the new policies he’s introduced to do this.

DeeCeeCherry · 26/04/2020 04:07

A couple have already died. A couple of months back DT mentioned a possible chemical cure for Covid. I can't remember what is was but this couple drank a version of it, the man died but his wife survived.

Tomasinaa · 26/04/2020 04:18

Deeceecherry I think it's suspected in that case that she murdered her husband with fish tank cleaner that she put in his soda.

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 26/04/2020 04:20

For anyone doubting how far he has gone, the disinfectant comment is just part of it..
I have been watching a lot of his press conferences and have noticed a pattern.
He reads from a script but just cannot stop himself from straying. When he strays it is tremendous, great, then he does that weird fish measuring thing with his hands and you know the lies are starting.
He then massively over eggs the pudding with lots, rising to thousands, rising to millions, rising to billions.
He follows the defend, deflect, distract, deceive process.
The other day Birx and Fauci were talking about it coming back in the fall and it being a nasty threat because of flu season combined. No matter how much he tried to play it down, the doctors told us straight. He then says he doesn't think it will happen. He referred to the embers of covid meeting the flu virus. The doctors were trying to correct him and he ignored them. The next day he refused to answer questions in this session and the doctors were not present.
When he holds press sessions in the oval office, the reporters are kneeling in front of his desk. Kneeling. They are invited to attend and he doesn't provide chairs.
He signs his orders with a marker pen.

If he didn't give them so much ammo, he wouldn't get shot. He is total proof that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Tomasinaa · 26/04/2020 04:22

@catsinthecupboard I'm glad you're deleting your account as there is no hope for you. But if you're still around I'd be glad to take to pieces every one of your points as they're all utter bullshit.

TheClaws · 26/04/2020 06:40

*catsinthecupboard “I have never seen him start a fight.” So - you’ve never seen his Twitter feed?

DeeCeeCherry · 26/04/2020 07:16

Tomasinaa really..? Wow. Strangely enough I said to DP when discussing it hmm suppose they made a suicide pact or some such but she drank water & let him drink the poison.! Either way, very sad story
