To ask the spookiest/creepiest/mysterious thing you've ever heard?

I know we've had these before but I just love all things creepy or mysterious!

I love reading them in the evening, perhaps I'm a freak but what is the scariest thing you've ever heard (or seen if you have any first hand experiences!)? Or even a horror short you've watched?

I usually read things about mysterious disappearances, anything to do with cults or witches gives me the creeps.

The Smiling Man on Creepy Pasta is one that always makes me uneasy!

Shameless placemarking

emptyplinth · 24/04/2020 00:20

Oh wow, Bunnyfuller and 2bazookas those are properly creepy.

PulyaSochsup · 24/04/2020 00:23

My parents ought a second hand bed for me, it was a small double and I was so excited. I turned off my light as I got into bed and I could hear breathing. I had no option but to go to sleep, they were most unlikely to replace the bed. They were very practical and disinclined to believe in anything paranormal.
I told them the next morning and the idea was ridiculed. My father worked nights at the time and I think he must have tried sleeping on it, because when I came home from school it was gone. I remember feeling really shocked that they had taken me seriously.

PulyaSochsup · 24/04/2020 00:26

I remember being stood in the playground at school when I was around 4. I was quite a solitary child and I heard a voice whisper right into my ear, calling me by my first name. It was a child’s voice, but as I turned around, I realised that there was nobody even close to me, let alone near enough to speak directly into my ear.

tumpymummy · 24/04/2020 00:28

@2bazookas that's creepy!

PulyaSochsup · 24/04/2020 00:31

The one was terrifying. I awoke in the night to hear a voice telling me that newborn DD would be murdered. She’s almost 21 now, but it still frightens me. It was said in such a certain tone. I put it down to PND but following subsequent pregnancies I have never experienced anything like that.

Sorry to hijack the thread 🙂.

I’ve had a few that I have posted about before. My current one is hearing knocking- a sharp three knocks- that no one else hears. We have been in this house for years and the knocking has just started last year. Before that it was having my toes tweaked in bed. Dh gets covers tweaked. It is more annoying than scary, I usually tell ‘it’ to F off!

Rubyupbeat · 24/04/2020 00:46

@UnagiSalmonSkinRoll
I cant find this podcast. I use castbox.
Is there some other name for it.
Thanks Smile

BatsEars · 24/04/2020 00:50

Oh
My word.

My heart is racing.

I'm that scared and I need a wee but honestly can't get up out of bed to go...

😮😳😮

Likethebattle · 24/04/2020 00:54

@Brigante9 after our dog died we would hear her. She used to nap in my mums bed and you hear her feet on the floor and her collar jingle and she usually had a shake as she got up. A few weeks after she wax euthanised due to illness my mum and me were just sitting watching tv and we heard her paws and jingle then the flapping noise of a dog having a shake. We just stared at each other in disbelief and said ‘did you just hear that.....?’

UnagiSalmonSkinRoll · 24/04/2020 03:24

This is lovely. Never heard or felt any sign of the two dogs we have lost.

Applejaxx · 24/04/2020 09:26

My parents dog died quite suddenly due to an an underlying illness that we didn’t know he had (he was a rescue). In the weeks and months afterwards we heard him drinking from his bowl, heard him barking (he had a distinctive bark and sounded more like a wolf lol) and occasionally saw him out of the corner of our eyes.

Also someone mentioned care homes. My DM worked in them for years, they are hotbeds of stuff like this and quite honestly you could pay me millions and I still wouldn’t want to work in one.

BlessMeDarkFather · 24/04/2020 10:06

I was downstairs making a bottle for my baby, he was crying in his cot and I heard someone shushing him very abruptly. It's just me and my child in the house 😳

Onemorefuck · 24/04/2020 13:40

@UnagiSalmonSkinRoll thank you for suggesting the Let’s Not Meet podcast. Grin

QuestionableMouse · 24/04/2020 17:21

I have a ghost cat that I see in my kitchen. Small and black, just like my current cat who won't venture into said kitchen - she stands at the door and hisses. A couple of times now I've gone oh hi cat and reached down to stroke her only to find thin air.

peppermintcapsules · 24/04/2020 17:36

I'm also shamelessly placemarking.

checkingforballoons · 24/04/2020 18:39

Place marking, I love these

SpookyOhs · 24/04/2020 20:42

Oo thank you for the podcast recommendation! I'll be settling down to one of them shortly 😊

On the subject of audio, I wonder if anyone has any scary book recommendations? I've taken to listening to audio books at the moment and I imagine a good horror book would be great!

Loving the contributions from you all thank you 😁

We also used to hear the dog jumping off the bed after she had died. Stopped when we moved house, I hope she's okay with the current owners.

thesunwillout · 24/04/2020 21:30

I read a book called Thin Air, was quite spooky. I'm too scared to read it again 😆
