I'm just nosey and wonder which industries are classed as key workers other than the NHS Police Fire Brigade and Shop Staff.

I know of 3 in my family.

Armed Forces
Social Worker
Dog Unit Support

Rest of the family are working from home but aren't key workers so can't actually go out to work.

My husband is a postie. He hasn’t had it easy At all. His being at work longer hours than normal mean I’m responsible for our autistic 12 yr old and nr 7 yr old schooling, care feeding etc whilst trying to do my own job from home as a coordinator in a college. Not easy.

I’m retired so I’m just carrying on as usual. My daughter is a nurse so it’s off to work she goes ( she on nights so has just left ) . My son in law is a postman so he’s working. My granddaughter is 14 so she’s doing homework every day . I live with them so one of them may bring the virus home to me 🤷‍♀️

madhouse123 · 23/04/2020 19:21

You don't have to be a key worker, my partner is a stone mason... works solo and is currently based in large grounds of an estate, as long as you social distance! (He also doesn't have any contact with the clients at the moment)

Teacher with crappy home internet connection so go to work every day even though I'm only on childcare rota occasionally. Online lessons aren't key worker important but they have to be done and I can't rely on being able to do them at home.
