Is this chickenpox?

My dd, 2, has had some spots appearing on her legs over the last few days. They start off like pimply blisters but there's no head or puss (sorry) if I gently squeeze them. They're not bothering her and she is fine in herself.
Then yesterday i found a cluster on her should as i was getting her changed. Today they're more like open spots.
We've been isolating for 6 weeks so no idea where this has come from if it is chicken pox.

Any ideas?

Does look like it. Although they should be really itchy.

Notimeforaname · 22/04/2020 15:58

They do look a little like pox...

CD41 · 22/04/2020 15:59

If you haven’t been in contact with anyone I’d say it’s unlikely. It’s generally around 2 weeks since contact.

Could it be heat rash? A cluster sounds like it could be. Chicken pox are generally more spread out randomly.

I would say you would definitely to know if it’s the chicken pox. My son went to school one morning came home and at bath time noticed a few spots on him by the morning he was pickled!

But I’m no doctor!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 22/04/2020 15:59

How big are they? Chicken pox are usually fairly large raised blisters.

Notimeforaname · 22/04/2020 16:00

I've worked with young children in daycare settings and some child really aren't as badly effected. Some are tormented woth the itching, others seem to not notice so much.

Most of our chicken pox cases were usually between January - April

Notimeforaname · 22/04/2020 16:02

Sorry lots of typos there Blush how quickly are new spots coming up? They come on fairly rapidly after noticing the first few

TopBitchoftheWitches · 22/04/2020 16:03

Looks like it. When my kids had it they got them first behind their ears, then worse in sweaty areas, two girls in nappies was not fun. Fingers crossed for you op.

Banana0pancakes · 22/04/2020 16:03

Yeah that's what is confusing me cd41, they've just been slowly popping up with the exception of her shoulder that appeared all together.

Size wise they seem bigger, and almost pearly in appearance at the start, maybe 4-5mm then once they go down or pop they're smaller but redder.

Ah just reread, you said its been over a few days. Probably not chicken pox then...

Banana0pancakes · 22/04/2020 16:05

I'd say over the last 5/6 days at a rate of 2or 3 new ones a day. Her shoulders were totally clear 2 days ago. She has about 8 or 9 there now but everywhere else is still clear

Just in case it is chickenpox don’t give her ibuprofen stick to paracetamol if she is uncomfortable.

NotAQueef · 22/04/2020 16:07

Could it be molloscum contagiosum?

Banana0pancakes · 22/04/2020 16:08

Thanks chaz

TabbyMumz · 22/04/2020 16:08

Yes, looks like chicken pox. Little see through blisters. You will know for sure if they eventually crust over. They do appear over a few days sometimes.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 22/04/2020 16:13

That's not molloscum contagiosum

dementedpixie · 22/04/2020 16:17

The leg ones look like bites

Banana0pancakes · 22/04/2020 16:29

That's what my first thought was @dementedpixie, but they all start out the same and then look like her shoulder before healing. We haven't been in the garden yesterday and she has been fully clothed when we have been, cats don't have fleas and aren't allowed in dds room so I'm at a loss. I'm keeping a close eye on ds, 10mo, see if anything pops up on him!

Look a bit like bites.
I react to bites and they do at times have a fluid blister in top which goes and leaves it like an open red spot.

Have you dried clothes outside? I have found a cluster on DC after drying clothes on the line. I figure there's been an insect caught in the clothes and had a feast when clothes been put on to wear.

Osirus · 22/04/2020 18:03

My daughter had hand, foot and mouth and it started exactly like this, including one odd cluster on her shoulder. She had them on her legs and arms as well and I think only one on her foot. A few days after the blisters appeared she then felt really unwell.

Buzlightyear1 · 22/04/2020 18:09

My son had this not itchy at all looked like bites at first didn't scab over and was not ill. Still not sure my mum said it looked like chicken pox but that was pics like urs. I'm still unsure and waiting to see.if he actually gets it. So wierd

Marnie76 · 22/04/2020 18:11

That’s so odd though, how can she have caught them?

redwinefine · 22/04/2020 18:13

Not sure if this is chicken pox - you tend to find like crap (like really really sluggish, headache, etc) for 7-10 days before the spots appear.

redwinefine · 22/04/2020 18:14

*feel like crap
