She hates me

I met this girl through old and we've been messaging for about a month.
The other day she brought up the fact that she has a business, I didn't know and was intrigued.
She sent me through some of the products she sells and I immediately saw it was MLM
So I mentioned the MLM before proceeding to research the products
Now she's acting really off with me.
Was Ibu to mention MLM?

Samtsirch thank you Smile
Givenchy that is exactly how I phrased it. "Oh it's MLM" sounds like an insecurity but she phrases it as her own business which it isn't like you say

Popsydoodle not my friend, met her through online dating.
Sorry to say but you've fallen for it too.

I’m not at all sure someone involved in MLM would be my type.

Are you?

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 01:26

Oh even worse. Someone involved in an MLM pyramid who insists it “my own business”.

You can do better. I can tell that about you already SmileSmile

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 01:47

This is what I'm pondering @ArriettyJones
Could I be with someone caught up in MLM?!
Their own pyramid Grin I love that

Smile

At risk of sounding like your gran, there really are plenty of fish in the sea.

Dontcoughnearme · 20/04/2020 01:49

She was grooming you most likely

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 01:50

Thank you @ArriettyJones I appreciate!
I just worry my autism means I've spoken my mind too much even though I didn't say much to her.

OP posts:
ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 01:53

Oh you’re an aspie? You DEFINITELY cannot go out with an MLM nitwit who objects to a spade being called a spade! Calling a spade a spade is one of the autistic superpowers Grin

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 01:55

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin I was thinking this exactly when she said "we are an MLM company but not a pyramid company... plus we're DSA approved" Blush

People do online dating to try and recruit people to join their MLMs. She's just lost interest now she knows you're not a potential recruit.

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 01:59

Christ Shock She sounds like she’s been brainwashed to issue certain sound bites when she hears the trigger word “MLM”.

Maybe she is just using OLD to find recruits as @Dontcoughnearme says. Stranger things have happened.

I think you need someone very rational, straightforward and frank (all aspies do TBH). She doesn’t sound like she meets the brief, whatever else might be for or against her.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 20/04/2020 02:00

MLMs are like cults and members are told that if fitness and family don't support heir new "business", to cut them out.

I have a friend who's recently joined Valentus - her husband is very smart and runs an investment company, so must know the risks, how has he not told her to pack it in?!

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 02:02

Lots of high earning men humour their wives in hobby businesses @GlummyMcGlummerson , he’s probably just applying the same reasoning to whatever Valentius is Smile

BirdieDance · 20/04/2020 02:04

I have a friend who's "found" Tropic. It's changed her life. Best thing she ever did apparently- "running her own business" was always her dream and now here she is, buying products and flogging what she can into a very select market of her family and friends. It's all utter bullshit and so sad. I'm just hoping the bubble bursts and she realises what's going on before she ends up spending way more than she should. The saddest thing is that she seems to have now roped her teenage daughter in who regularly pops up on her "lives" on FB.

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 02:05

@GlummyMcGlummerson That's the exact one she is on Shock

chickenyhead · 20/04/2020 02:07

she spent a month getting you interested, she has now stepped back to get the upper hand. She will no doubt expect you to offer to make a purchase from her business in order to continue contact.

MLM people seem to automatically hate me. I'm not really sure why. Not that I'm bothered.

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 02:07

@ArriettyJones Yes!!! Im starting to wonder about recruitment now too.
As the weird thing is, I only met her on the app a month ago but I happened to be scrolling through some old Messenger conversations and I saw her name whereby she had randomly added me and mentioned she was expanding her business Blush
This is very outing now

OP posts:
oldmlm · 20/04/2020 02:09

@BirdieDance Recruiting her daughter :(
I just don't understand why they don't just do even 5 minutes of reading upon MLM/ pyramid schemes.
And why they think it would be that easy to earn money as an unskilled worker from home!

OP posts:
perniciousdot · 20/04/2020 02:10

I really don't want to derail here but I can't help but ask @ArriettyJones

Why does OP mentioning their autism make you respond with

Oh you’re an aspie?

Why did you make such an assumption?

MamaFrey29 · 20/04/2020 02:11

What's OLD? What's MLM?!

MamaFrey29 · 20/04/2020 02:14

Sounds like she is using whatever OLD is, to find new recruits.

Sorry op. Walk away immediately. Run...

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 02:14

@perniciousdot

I don’t draw a distinction between high functioning autism and Aspergers. Lots of people don’t, regardless of the DSMV.

Aspie is just an informal (and quick) way of saying “person who has Aspergers” and many Aspies also consider “Aspie” an identity of sorts.

Does that cover whatever confused you?

oldmlm · 20/04/2020 02:16

@MamaFrey29 I'm wondering this too! There's a bit of a backstory which I'm thinking is relevant now!

OP posts:
oldmlm · 20/04/2020 02:19

I also regard hfa/ ag as the same
