If we're all back to school from home next week, it'd make a great pride of the nation activity, red white and blue pictures with a happy birthday theme then all upload with a #HappyBirthdayQueen on the 21st.

I think shes an amazing women who has dedicated her life to our country. My own three DC have enjoyed the various red white and blue themed activities we've seen over the years in their various schools so might enjoy a purposeful activity and looking at those produced by others on the 21st.

smellbellina close 🤣 glasgow!!

iklboo · 19/04/2020 00:37

Yea, she does have to be Queen though as a pay off. Wouldn’t swap personally.

Yeah. I fucking would. I doubt she's wondering if she can pay this months rent.

Hadjab · 19/04/2020 00:37

@LoisWilkersonslastnerve me too 👏🏾

ArriettyJones · 19/04/2020 00:44

That suggestion somehow sounds twee and inappropriate at the same time.

Shall we revive Empire day next?

You make something for the Queen if you want to recognise her recent three minute speech as a huge effort. Leave the children out of it. Why should children be coerced into forelock tugging?

Smellbellina · 19/04/2020 00:44

@Bairnsmum05 😂 sorry! It was a close call though!

PanamaPattie · 19/04/2020 01:02

This will be deleted.

I highly suspect this post is a wind-up by the OP.

But I do think the mood is changing.

The UK is one of the richest countries in the world, yet poverty is rising, living standards are under threat, and it has a health system where a 99 year old man is doing laps of his garden help fund the health service.

Meanwhile, one woman has 4 mansions (Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Sandringham and Windsor) while her children and grandchildren have additional taxpayer funded residences.

She doesn't represent the best of Britain. The everyday, normal people who make up Britain represent the best - the people who work in the NHS, the people who are stocking our supermarkets, the people who teach our children, among many others.

So yes, I'm quite happy to raise a glass to the people who actually make the country work, but not to a privileged woman who has never had to deal for a second with the reality the rest of us face.

LittleMissBumFun · 19/04/2020 01:06

Won't somebody think of the children!!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 19/04/2020 01:07

she has two birthdays anyway
(and probably turns her hearing aid off for the canons Grin)

Triglesoffy · 19/04/2020 01:11

I think the Queen’s children are doing just fine @LittleMissBumFun, even Prince Andrew.

Ipadipod · 19/04/2020 01:15

Isn’t it all just more virtual signalling 🙄

Rubybluesy · 19/04/2020 01:24

Poor Queenie... how will she manage

CSIblonde · 19/04/2020 01:31

Nope. She's rounded up the wagons for 'her favourite' Andrew the pedophile & only 'stepped in' to stop Diana's butler being done for 'theft' of items he'd been given, because she knew he was mentally falling apart (found suicidal with a ton of tablets in a layby) & all the v dodgy stuff he knew would come out in Court. She's good for tourism is all. The 'mindless loyalty' some people have for her to quote a v funny Pub Landlord sketch, baffles me.

PatricksRum · 19/04/2020 03:07

Sorry, OP, but I'm busy.
And wouldn't want to attract the Duke of York's attention to the fact that there are children in the house.

Dubdubdubtub · 19/04/2020 03:42

Oh dear op know you audience

TheFairyCaravan · 19/04/2020 06:47

Have a word with yourself. If your children want to send pictures to the elderly to cheer them up send them to your local care homes.

I did laugh when Prince William said he was worried about his grandparents and they were trying to keep them isolated. They're at Windsor Castle, not a 2 up 2 down, so it's hardly bloody difficult is it?

MsTSwift · 19/04/2020 07:00

I have been indifferent to the RF but since Andrew and this crisis which has shone a spotlight on their pointlessnessI have been feeling frankly revolutionary and think we should draw a line under the whole thing. Dh always felt this quite strongly. So it’s a polite no from this household.

SnowsInWater · 19/04/2020 07:10

What PicsInRed said - multiplied by a hundred.

joystir59 · 19/04/2020 07:18

I used to look forward to her dying as I love pomp and ceremony of royal spectacles, and we get a day off, but since lockdown has eased the time pressures of life I'm not so bothered. The announcement from.the palace that she is forgoing her birthday cannons is Monty Pythonesque

emmetgirl · 19/04/2020 07:20

Surely this is a joke? FFS

Cnoc · 19/04/2020 07:26

Forgoing her birthday cannons? Surely no monarch has ever been so selfless! Hmm

1066vegan · 19/04/2020 07:30

We're republicans here (my MIL did manage to turn dd into a royalist when she was very young but she's grown out of it now) so that'll be a no.

squeekums · 19/04/2020 07:40

Damn the queen a greedy bitch lol

So in the UK she has a bday on the 21st
In Aus it's like June we get a public holiday for it

I don't know why or whatever just think it's funny, like mental images of the queen double dipping on bday presents, sneaking down under for a 2nd birthday

Do what Aussies do op, take a day off, get drunk and forget why it's even a day off

1point21gigawatts · 19/04/2020 08:04

@squeekums

We don't get a day off for her maj's birthday even!!

And she has two birthdays in Britain anyway. One her actual birthday, 21st April, and the second: her official birthday, in June. Which is when they did the trooping the colour and all that. And the colonies get to celebrate Wink
