If we're all back to school from home next week, it'd make a great pride of the nation activity, red white and blue pictures with a happy birthday theme then all upload with a #HappyBirthdayQueen on the 21st.

I think shes an amazing women who has dedicated her life to our country. My own three DC have enjoyed the various red white and blue themed activities we've seen over the years in their various schools so might enjoy a purposeful activity and looking at those produced by others on the 21st.

MrsTP

I am standing shoulder to shoulder with you in your sentiments.

ilovesooty · 18/04/2020 19:20

What does the power of MN have to do with t?

sammylady37 · 18/04/2020 19:21

How was her recent address a result of “significant personal effort”? It was no doubt scripted for her, her clothes were chosen and ready for her (it’s possible someone even actually dressed her) and she parroted the script. Not much effort tbh, much less “significant personal effort”.

The sycophantic attitude never ceases to amaze me.

pigsDOfly · 18/04/2020 19:22

I don't think the queen is going to be bothered one way or the other OP if you're thinking of her and doing something nice for her.

Can you expand on exactly how she'd dedicated her life to our country?

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/04/2020 19:22

Loving the social distancing royalist sentiment Smile Grin

TheWordmeister · 18/04/2020 19:22

I agree with AllPlayedOut.

The RF is an anachronism. I'd be ashamed if my children thought being obsequious or fawning to any of them was OK.

SparklingLime · 18/04/2020 19:22

I'm someone who believes that sometimes its nice to think of others.

One incredibly privileged “other”. I’d rather focus on those who are desperately struggling through this crisis. Kids can help too.

OhCaptain · 18/04/2020 19:23

I'm someone who believes that sometimes its nice to think of others.

Ok but in fairness this is a bit ridiculous when you’re talking about a bloody queen! There are billions of people who would benefit more from your niceness than a queen.

RippleEffects · 18/04/2020 19:23

@Seetheprettysnowdropseethe Have every pop at me you want but leave my DC well out of it.

TBF OP you were trying to drag out children into some weird display of feudal obsequiousness.

WeAllHaveWings · 18/04/2020 19:28

Do I respect that she has said don't put your self at risk to follow usual protocol

The palace has announced it is cancelled as she says it is not appropriate in the circumstances. No one mentioned 'don't put yourself at risk' it is because it's a bit indulgent and bad PR when thousands are dying every week and the country is heading for economic crisis while she and her multimillionaire family do feck all.

OhCaptain · 18/04/2020 19:32

Have every pop at me you want but leave my DC well out of it.

Confused

Eh, your thread is about involving children in stuff.

foamrolling · 18/04/2020 19:37

Absolutely no chance I'm going to actively encourage my kids to fawn over the royal family.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 18/04/2020 19:40

If you want to do something good OP then why not follow the wishes of numerous charities and organisations who carry out their functions every day of the year - care for the elderly? The Queen doesn't need you but there may be many more people who would benefit if you/your children have time on their hands.

TheWordmeister · 18/04/2020 19:40

Still Hmm over significant personal effort to reassure the nation .

Amazing that people fall for this shite.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 18/04/2020 19:42

OMG you really are Ben Fogle aren't you? Please realise nobody gives a shit about the Queen at the moment.

Mmsnet101 · 18/04/2020 19:42

@RippleEffects Fuck. Right. Off.

katscamel · 18/04/2020 19:43

It's a lot if us expats who'll be missing out. For several years whilst beibg overseas in random countries Ive been abke to get myself invited tonthe Queens bday parties held by the UK embassies.
Good food, lots to drink, decent (ish) music and most years there has been cake!! What is very disappointing is that there have never been any party bags with the odd tiara thrown in..... honestly!!Smile

Scruffyoak · 18/04/2020 19:43

Actually, I loved all the events mine have done at school...Jubilee etc and we are decorating our house etc for her birthday Grin

PubsClubsMinistryOfSound · 18/04/2020 19:44

That'd be a great idea lyingwitch, but my guess is that what OP actually wants is a bunfight...

katscamel · 18/04/2020 19:45

Oh yikes....serves me right for typing in a hurry....large glass of wine if you can make out the typos.... large glass of wine if you can't.

Marigold101 · 18/04/2020 19:46

Umm let me think? No.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/04/2020 19:49

Wise the fuck up OP
When isolation ends get some therapy.

Justmuddlingalong · 18/04/2020 19:51

I had a big birthday a few weeks before lockdown, when buying a card and stamp and posting it hadn't become a life threatening risk. HM the Queen never bothered her arse, therefore neither will I on her birthday.
