Just a lighthearted post to change the subject from all things Corona!

I love watching cookery shows on a saturday morning and make a lot of Nadiya's recipes. Absolutely love her!

She was making a breakfast dish I was admiring and thinking of making tomorrow morning, and then I saw it. ODD SOCKS. The OCD in me came out and made me wonder, is this a thing people do intentionally? I mean she knew she was recording a show in her socks, probably didnt anticipate the camera pan down to her feet though!

Seriously it would drive me insane knowing I had odd socks, holely socks or seeing my kids or OH with them!!! As soon as one goes missing in the wash load, I give it a few days to turn up or it is banished !

Vote Yes if you are happy with odd socks or no if you're like me and think it's a no-go!

I am grateful my kids embrace my lazy habit of not being arsed to waste my time pairing socks, I do pair ones right before my eyes, after which it is just a best fit.
IMHO, this fashion is has been born from an unwillingness to waste use of socks that happen to look different

CaptainMyCaptain · 18/04/2020 12:28

I bought my husband a box of socks all with different brightly coloured patterned bottom parts and black ankles. He can wear them to work and nobody knows.

ShinyMe · 18/04/2020 12:28

I have several packs of those United Oddsocks. It's great, they all coordinate, so I just pull out any two when I'm getting dressed.

MrsMop1964 · 18/04/2020 12:29

To me a sock is just a foot covering-I don't care what they look like. Sometimes mine match, other times they don't. Neither here nor there

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 18/04/2020 12:30

Only wear odd socks since someone told me by the time you reach 70 you have spent two years of your life pairing your socks🤣

StarryGazeyEyes · 18/04/2020 12:30

I fell in love with a box of mismatch socks but just couldn't quite go through with wearing them, so had to buy two boxes to make pairs Blush

koshkatt · 18/04/2020 12:30

except... OCD comes in all kind of forms and levels. It's not offensive, because it's not a competition

Nope. It IS offensive and, tbh, no one with OCD would use the phrase that the OP used. It is time that people stopped it.

AmelieTaylor · 18/04/2020 12:31

I buy packs of socks and wear deliberately mis matched socks, but I couldn't wear socks that weren't from the same pack as they'd FEEL weird.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 18/04/2020 12:32

Life's too short for matching socks. But then I buy xmas socks in the January sales and wear them all year round.

DickKerrLadies · 18/04/2020 12:33

I didn't know on-purpose odd socks were a thing. That's something I could get on board with.

WhyCantIThinkOfAGoodOne · 18/04/2020 12:33

I wear odd socks sometimes but probably would make the effort to match if I was going on TV so I assume it must be deliberate.

FortunesFave · 18/04/2020 12:33

Vote Yes if you are happy with odd socks or no if you're like me and think it's a no-go!

What do you MEAN?? It's YANBU or YABU! I can't grasp yes or no! Shock

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 18/04/2020 12:33

I couldn't do that if you paid me.

Though once I went to work wearing odd shoes, I have similar pairs, one leather the other one patent leather and I mixed them up in the dark. Drove me bonkers thorough the day.

namechangetheworld · 18/04/2020 12:33

Hate it! Ex boyfriend who thought he was terribly quirky used to do it on purpose every day. Still not over it fifteen years later Grin the sock thing, not the ex

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/04/2020 12:34

My brother bought me intentionally odd socks and I love them. It may also have been filmed on the day which raises awareness of Downs Syndrome and people are encouraged to wear odd socks for the day.

OneandTwenty · 18/04/2020 12:36

but just couldn't quite go through with wearing them, so had to buy two boxes to make pairs

that's brilliant Grin

OneandTwenty · 18/04/2020 12:37

koshkatt
of course it's not offensive, and people with OCD use that sentence just as well. Again, it's not a competition, and it's a badge of honour. There really are levels.

Bagelsandbrie · 18/04/2020 12:38

Never heard of United odd socks! Love them! Really tempted to treat myself Grin

ofwarren · 18/04/2020 12:38

I agree that it's not the look, it's the feel.
One might be slightly tighter, or rougher or shorter.... Shudder

OneandTwenty · 18/04/2020 12:38

*it's NOT...

koshkatt · 18/04/2020 12:39

One I have struggled with OCD for most of my life. Anyone using such a stupid phrase has no understanding of this illness.

And yes it IS offensive.

Notpanickingjustyet · 18/04/2020 12:40

There's a company that keeps popping up on Facebook that are odd socks. E.g. carrots on one and the rabbit on the other.
Fine I guess. Not for the price they are though!

Oldraver · 18/04/2020 12:41

My OH's neice prided herself on wearing odd socks as 'life was too short to pair socks'

She would spend hours preening her face and hair though which I find a faff

Horses for courses an' all that. Somethings aren't important to others
