To think everyone should give this a go!

Saw this workout online, posted by a super fit fitness model. Didn't believe it could be done in her mind boggling time of 18 minutes. DH and I gave it a try. Granted we nearly died but managed it in 23 minutes. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself given I'm 15 years more senior than said fitness model - anyone else fancy trying it?

That’s a lot of reps! But I will give it a go and report back. What’s plank to elbow though? Is that moving plank? Or the one where you start in a high plank and then dip back with your triceps?

MissSingerbrains · 18/04/2020 13:15

I’ll give it a go! Although agree with a few PPs, maybe rushing this isn’t a great idea as it would be more important to focus on form.

Also not sure what plank to elbow is?

Notso · 18/04/2020 13:23

Why do people who suddenly start working out start to enlist everyone else?
Yes, or try and turn everything into a competition. DH is furloughed and bored, every walk has to logged on a step counter, picking up the swing ball bat leads to a leader board.
It's like living with my old PE teacher but no moustache and smaller boobs. I've hidden all the whistles.

Cant try those I’m much too busy watching Bargain Hunt and eating custard creams.

iklboo · 18/04/2020 14:32

I might also damage my drinking hand so, nah, you're ok.

Corna · 18/04/2020 14:36

What? Nope. Yabu.

Maybe an airsquat is a fart

trappedsincesundaymorn · 18/04/2020 14:39

Tried it, didn't like it, won't be doing it again.

HemlockStarglimmer · 18/04/2020 14:41

I had to google burpee the other day. Not a fucking chance 🤣🤣🤣

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 18/04/2020 14:48

Nope don't believe you did that OP.

What's the point of doing them as fast as you can? Surely it's more beneficial to do them properly?

pussycatinboots · 18/04/2020 14:50

I've done the burpees, but that was because i bolted my lunch.

PragmaticWench · 18/04/2020 15:03

You really shouldn't be encouraging people to do this quickly, to try and aim for circa 20 minutes. Anyone doing these exercises and number of reps that fast is an idiot and cannot be using correct form. They'll also not be getting the best benefit, many exercises are harder to do slowly as it pushes your muscles more.

Isobored · 19/04/2020 00:02

Oh well I enjoyed it and have a new workout planned for today - equally as hellish !

OP posts:
corythatwas · 19/04/2020 00:55

Can't see the point in deliberately doing exercises in a way that is bound to make them less efficient and quite likely to cause injuries. Slowly and correctly seems far more effective, not least with the extensions.

Isobored · 19/04/2020 01:16

In some cases yes.
But smashing out 10 burpee's as quick as you can is better than taking your time over them.
I do lots of HIIT training so I'm not doing this from a standing start, thankfully I'm injury free.

This feels like a weird MLM hard sell.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 19/04/2020 14:08

This is a kind of information you should put next to your achieved time...

Ragwort · 19/04/2020 14:13

No of course everyone can’t do that ... I am over 60 & have really upped my exercise during lockdown, 4-5 mile walk most days plus a couple of low impact online workouts, I am feeling fitter and can notice some muscle definition but I couldn’t possibly follow the workout the OP recommends.

The fact you already do HIIT training does indicate you are not actually a beginner .... but good luck to you, we all need something to aim for & motivate ourselves.

koshkatt · 19/04/2020 14:15

Burpees are actual torture. The end.

MashedSpud · 19/04/2020 14:20

Anyone who hasn’t exercised in a while shouldn’t even think about trying it.
You’re meant to ease yourself into exercise, starting slowly.

G.P.s and hospitals are under enough strain right now.

MissSingerbrains · 19/04/2020 15:00

I don’t understand the MLM comparison? OP doesn’t have anything to gain from posting.

Thanks op, did this with teenage DC today, was fun Smile

MissSingerbrains · 19/04/2020 15:03

Just add... We took our time doing it though, did not rush. I do HIIT regularly so am not a beginner.

I know where the poster mentioning it was going😂
It's the same type of post. Just without the PM me and lacking bit of enthusiasmGrin
"Gurrrrls. I just found this fab workout.💓 Super fit models 🤸‍♀️ are using it and everyone should try it imo.💞 I didn't believe it could be done🙅‍♀️, but I did it💞😱! It made me feel so proud of myself! 💓💓💓💓 Anyone else fancies it? PM📨 me, huns xoxoxo"

Loooobyloo · 19/04/2020 15:47

I'll give it a go tomorrow and get back to you how long it took me. I'm pretty fit so we'll see.

In the bath right nowGrin
