Aibu to be encouraging others to think about the food they are missing?

Mine will be mussels in black bean sauce then king prawns in pepper sauce with egg fried rice from the naice Chinese Restaurant near us.😋

I want a really fancy five or eight course taster menu in a fancy restaurant. I went to one for my 30th and keep fondly reminiscing about a crisp white tablecloth, warm fresh bread rolls and course after course of prawns, duck, fucking lobster. I want all of that. I want it so badly that the minute lockdown ends I am booking the fanciest taster menu that I can possibly afford. Will use the money from the cancelled holiday!

raviolidreaming · 15/04/2020 18:18

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult I don't normally tag people but this is important... some KFCs have reopened via Just Eat!!

jay55 · 15/04/2020 18:23

Ribs, cornbread and beans.

Or the endless bbq brunch at big easy. I mean I am using isolation to practice stretching my stomach.

meow1989 · 15/04/2020 18:35

I'm a simple girl: McDonalds all the way.

Double cheese burger with only ketchup, large salty fries and a strawberry milkshake to dip them in.

Not that I should, I worked really hard to lose 10lbs last year and seem to have gained 5 back in the last 3 weeks

Thurmanmurman · 15/04/2020 18:42

I’m starving now! Just a nice pub lunch and glass of wine in a beer garden would be nice. Or anything my mum cooks (she’s a hopeless cook but I miss her and haven’t seen her since Christmas but I would love to eat her soggy veg right now)😢

user1487194234 · 15/04/2020 18:45

Curry Smile

roundtable · 15/04/2020 18:49

Calamari, dim sum and pad thai noodles.

I can't wait!

Lovelydovey · 15/04/2020 18:50

Steak and chips with chimichurri sauce followed by an ice cream sundae! I could make it at home if I was bothered but I’m not.

T1redmum1 · 15/04/2020 18:50

Wagamamas Teriyaki beef donburi or naked Katsu curry

BlueJava · 15/04/2020 18:51

There are lots of restaurants which are operatingas takeaways here, we're still having restaurant food!

dkanin · 15/04/2020 18:53

I could eat a roast dinner in about 5 minutes! I'm also looking forward to having a dominos. We've been very careful due to people in household in shielding group so haven't been getting takeaways or going to supermarkets. I'd rather like some sushi as well!

OneKeyAtATime · 15/04/2020 19:04

Sushi!

purplecorkheart · 15/04/2020 19:06

This thread actually made me really think. There is not restaurant dish I miss itself, however I miss a scallop dish in a restaurant in a nearby city because every few months my Mom and I book a hotel room, be tourists in our local city, go for a facial and have dinner in that restaurant. I miss Mom daughter time.

Similarly I miss a chicken dish in a local restaurant. It is something I nearly always order when I have lunch with a lady who is in her 80s, who is probably the most wonderful person I will ever have the privilege to me, we invariably end up chatting until just before the dinner service starts (and we to try new ideas for the menu).

I also miss a supermarket cafe breakfast and lunch. Again I don't miss the food but I miss eating with my best friend and her amazing daughters.

From the fabulous "Crabshakk (Glasgow) Crab cakes
Scallops in anchovy butter
Squid Tempura
Few glasses of white wine.
Teeth. Watering.
or - Wotherspoons fabulous chips.

carriebreadshaw · 15/04/2020 19:43

A cheese board and a meat board at the local pub, sat outside, washed down with a couple of pornstar martinis and lots and lots of wine

LakieLady · 15/04/2020 19:56

Chargrilled steak burger with blue cheese at our local, and a couple of pints to wash it down.

ChocolateDove · 15/04/2020 20:00

Anything from a local pub.

Actually just anything cooked by someone else.

I'm going to get one of the takeaways being delivered around the area when we are paid again.

AdoptedBumpkin · 15/04/2020 20:00

I'll probably go for something like a Chinese banquet. At the moment though, I'd settle for a McDonalds. Grin

nevergooogle · 15/04/2020 20:03

Yes restaurants locally delivering here too.

But now that I've lost all of my income (self employed) I can't afford it so ordering steak from the pub is out of the question.

I guess 'when this is all over' means when I have an income again rather than when the restrictions are lifted.

TeddyBeans · 15/04/2020 20:11

Italian would be my go to ❤️

Garlic cheesy dough balls for starters
Salmon risotto for mains
Tiramisu for pudding

My mouth is watering just thinking about it

carriebreadshaw · 15/04/2020 20:12

Me too *nevergooogle" it's pure fantasy for me haha

Sindragosan · 15/04/2020 20:22

Bbq ribs, sweet potato fries, corn cobs, onion rings...

Or anywhere with halloumi fries

Or nando's with garlic bread

Gingerkittykat · 15/04/2020 20:27

Nasello in Roso which is hake in tomato sauce and I'll have it with chips and salad,

It will be followed by the biggest ice cream sundae with posh Italian ice cream and fresh strawberries, raspberries and cream.

Lockdowneaster · 15/04/2020 20:28

Local bakery does the most amazing pastries. Cheese, potato & onion or veg curry. I miss them.

Do really want a McDonald’s though.

UntamedWisteria · 15/04/2020 20:30

We've been having curry as a takeaway from our local Indian every week.

I'm looking forward to fish & chips at my local pub, with an icy glass of chablis.
