to be watching with my jaw dropped as Trump goes into full meltdown at his press briefing?

Is anyone else watching this?! He is literally ranting like a man possessed, I've never seen anything like it. He's declared war on the media (I know we're used to him lashing out at journalists but this is on another level)

I'm watching it on CNN and they have breaking news straplines like "Trump uses task force briefing to rewrite history on coronavirus response", "Angry Trump turns briefing into propaganda session" and "Angry Trump uses propaganda video, produced by government employees at taxpayers' expense"

He has just said, verbatim: "When somebody is President of the United States, that authority is total"

I thought our daily briefings were bullshit Shock

I must admit he reminds me of my dad when the dementia really started to make its presence felt. In which case he must be terrified. My dad would never admit it but you could see it - the dogmatism but also the fear as he couldn't quite keep the thread of his thoughts going.

I hope it's not. Much easier to despise than to pity him.

AnnofPeeves · 16/04/2020 10:42

Yes, there's definitely something 'off' about him. If you watch him when he's not speaking, he is jerky and twitchy. He can no longer concentrate long enough to read a speech without losing his thread and ad libbing, using childlike repetitive language. He forgets words part way through and uses the wing word. Also he appears to have less control of his emotions, losing his temper rapidly in public, and name calling.

Toddler with a tantrum throwing his toys out of the pram. My 20 month old has more self control.

TheClaws · 16/04/2020 11:21

We haven’t really had to, GoFiguire - it’s always been that neon wee colour up till now Smile

user1471565182 · 16/04/2020 11:22

Hes changed his face colour since that awful picture of his orange tide mark appeared, which is why his hair colour looks different I think.

user1471565182 · 16/04/2020 11:28

Yeah sorry Im not going to feel any sympathy for a rapist who cheated on his pregnant wife and boasted ON 9/11 that he now has the biggest building in new York and who is now in the process of destroying the world for his own profit.

Parker231 · 16/04/2020 11:39

He is releasing his plans today for the reopening of the US. He thinks they are past the peak even though their figures are going up daily.

BruceAndNosh · 16/04/2020 11:46

Thank God he doesn't really have the Total control he thinks he has.
There is something seriously wrong with him, and i think it's a medical issue (as well as being as an arsehole)

Peregrina · 16/04/2020 11:51

This is frightening - there must be a way of declaring him medically unfit and removing him, you would hope?

On a personal level, anyone who has seen a relative succumb to dementia knows what a miserable experience it is for all concerned.

theschoolonthehill · 16/04/2020 12:45

Tbh if he has dementia, he is even more dangerous as he is liable to bigger and more frequent temper outbursts. But he has always been volatile and he is in so over his head and doesn’t even realise or accept that makes it more terrifying.

ThrowingGoodAfterBad · 16/04/2020 13:10

I'm hoping the rest of the world will keep its social distance, however much the US claims it is re-open. I expect the UK will do whatever it is told, but the rest of the world can keep quarantining incomers and restricting outgoers.

BruceAndNosh · 16/04/2020 14:24

God help America with Mike Pence as President, but a nutjob in full control of his cognitive faculties is marginally better than a nutjob who is losing his faculties . At least the former might actually listen to his advisors rather than making up policy based on whims and fantasy

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/04/2020 14:51

Bloody hell @RosesandIris that's chilling.

GoFiguire · 16/04/2020 23:15

Trump has changed his hair colour again. It is now taupe.

TheClaws · 17/04/2020 00:19

The word ‘taupe’ even looks wrong.

BruceAndNosh · 17/04/2020 00:21

@GoFiguire is he working his way through the Farrow and Ball catalogue?
Elephant's breath for tomorrow?
It definitely seems more silver outdoors

Dead Salmon on Saturday.

Farrow and Ball colour no. W5 is called Orange Coloured White.

Blubelle7 · 17/04/2020 02:45

I wonder in 2024 ,(sadly I think he will win another election) how America will move on from his disaster term as president and his terrible diplomacy and how isolated he has and will continue to make the country. They have lost most of their influence and respect as a country and it will only go downhill. I pity the person who has to pick up the pieces. 8 years is a long time of things going wrong.

Roussette · 17/04/2020 07:30

8 years hasn't happened yet. There is still hope and there is a huge movement to get him out.

Roussette · 17/04/2020 07:53

It's not over till the fat lady sings.
www.palmerreport.com/analysis/press-briefings-are-costing-him-donald-trump/27667/

"World leaders always get a temporary boost in approval rating as a crisis unfolds, because some people think the best way to improve their nation’s odds of surviving it is to give a vote of confidence to their leader whether they approve of their leader or not. These boosts never last all that long. Donald Trump’s crisis boost was remarkably small, and it’s gone already. His approval rating is now firmly back underwater, meaning he’s in a terrible position for reelection"

Roussette · 17/04/2020 08:09

Just seen a clip of yesterday's briefing. He's gone strawberry blonde now, really weird compared to his normal tobacco yellow. He's obviously trying out different colours every day Hmm
He must be very needy beauty treatment wise, what with the fake tan as well, which was particularly dayglo yesterday.

YesThatIsMyRealName · 17/04/2020 08:13

@rousette Joe Biden is already a hard sell for many democrats. Much as I hate Trump, I'd find it pretty hard to vote for Biden either.
