Is this a reasonable or unreasonable thing to do.

2 mile car journey required.

Couple had a sarnie on a blanket whilst the dog "zoomed" around.

Yes I would, sounds like a good idea. You and your dog would enjoy it.

Shame they aren't in NZ. Happy to rent a paddock to idiots with more money than sense. Grin

It’s really not that big a deal is it? Get a new hobby maybe!

orangejuicer · 16/04/2020 07:33

It is ok to find enjoyment at the moment whilst following the rules!

You should do. Though it's not about money than sense.

They are great for rescue dogs to have off lead time, when they cant do it else where. Great for training, especially recall.

Ours only accepts vaccinated dogs. So when I fostered a sprocker last year, who had been left outside pretty much on his own. It was great for tiring him out. He was calmer and easier to train, when he had physical exercise.

Many of these places also do puppy training, gun dog training, fly ball, agility. And have weekends social meet ups. One weekend it will be small dogs. The next medium etc.

You can make a fortune. My friend does. Its part if the land that she owns at the back of her house. She doesnt have to see anyone and is still making money. Though the classes arent running.

If I had the land, I definitely would do it. She goes out and gives it a check over between visits.

Perfect lifestyle to me.

Aww, that’s nice of you, just what we all need at this time in the world, kindness eye roll You’re too late with the idea though, we’re originally from NZ and I know of at least two enclosed dog walking paddocks in our old neighbourhood.

We’ve done almost the same as the op describes, though we can walk to the field, we’ve taken our dog and dc, as part of our daily walk, to get there. There’s a rope swing and masses of space so the dc play football and run round, and use the rope swing, whilst our terrier can run round off the lead and burn some energy off. The rest of the time (we book the field twice a week, which still costs less than we’re saving on the fact she’s not with the dog walker whilst we’re all in lockdown) she’s walked on a lead round our local area, which is now busier than ever with people/dogs/bikes etc

It’s not idiotic at all. What an odd comment to make. It’s actually very sensible to exercise your dog in a private field, especially if they’re reactive or otherwise have difficulties being around other dogs (or if you just want to keep your dog safe from other dogs that might have issues).
