To play Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No 2 loudly in my back garden

Instead of the crap that people usually play around here.

There are people on the street who play loud music in their garden. I just wish they would play something decent instead of the crap they play.

Not one person is playing anything I like. I don't think they take requests.

Actually - TBF - one house did have a decent session recently with some rhythm and blues. But that's rare.

So should I just blast out some of the decent classics.

(obviously lighthearted)

Only if you have a grand piano- upright pianos just don't emit the sound the same way Sad

Outtedagain · 12/04/2020 12:08

Do it. Record and post so I hear it too please.

IpanemaGallina · 12/04/2020 12:09

One of my favourites Smile 🎼

KrakowDawn · 12/04/2020 12:09

YABU Rachmaninoff was just the Michael Bublé of his day!

LongGinShortTonic · 12/04/2020 12:09

Love Rachmaninov- go for it!

Might put some on whilst I cook lunch!

chomalungma · 12/04/2020 12:11

Well - it's the Classic FM Hall of Fame this weekend - so we'll see if it's beaten the bloody Lark ascending....

I used to have fantasies about blasting our gangsta rap playing skunk smoking drug dealer neighbours with woman’s hour to get them back. We just moved in the end to a nicer neighbourhood problem solved!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 12/04/2020 12:12

Anyone else's music/noise is irritating, whatever it is if you have no control over it - why reduce yourself their level?

One of my favourites too. Do you live near me? I'll go outside if so Grin

KrakowDawn · 12/04/2020 12:15

Oh no- I hope it's Beethoven's 9th at the top this time.

chomalungma · 12/04/2020 12:17

I am hoping for Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis (by Vaughan Williams)

😂😂 I said similar to DH on Friday when the teenagers next door (but on a different road) were blasting something at a volume where we could only really hear the thudding bass line.

I said maybe it wouldn't be so bad if they turned it up so we could hear it properly. But DH being the reasonable sort went round to have a (socially distant) word and our neighbours, also being a reasonable sort, turned the music down. Not really the type of drama MN thrives on 😂

Back in the dim and distant past about three weeks ago when I used to travel by public transport they would play classical music in the tube station entrances to discourage ne’erdowells from hanging around - or at the very least morally improve them while they were doing it. Excellent initiative, always brightened my day.

chomalungma · 12/04/2020 12:20

There's always musicals as well.

How are people still voting for lark ascending 🤬 and YABU rach 2 is too obvious, try 1 or 3 😍

chomalungma · 12/04/2020 12:22

One of my favourites, I'd love to hear it blasting out!

You've reminded me of what my brother and his friends used to do when they were 18. Take my mum's mini metro to the car parks where people were doing doughnuts and drive around slowly with classical music blaring out haha

Also I discovered this tune recently - listen from 0:15!

ivykaty44 · 12/04/2020 12:25

Debussy would be better tbh

AlunWynsKnee · 12/04/2020 12:26

Do it.
I'm gathering inspiration for retaliation now we've realised who's playing his radio loudly on sunny days. I didn't want to listen to 'Beat it' when it came out and I certainly don't now.

How2Help · 12/04/2020 12:26

In the olden days when we travelled and went on trains I was in a carriage where someone was playing his music with no headphones. Someone else out-volumed him with the Hallelujah Chorus. It was epic. That would also be seasonally appropriate!

PerkingFaintly · 12/04/2020 12:29

Oh magnificent!

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2020 12:29

I would find this no less annoying than anything else. No one wants to hear someone else's music choice.

monkeytennis97 · 12/04/2020 12:29

Do it!! Totally agree with you!(currently listening to Bartok)

Toilenstripes · 12/04/2020 12:31

I’m also hoping for Variations on a Theme to win!
