I’m disgusted with Mr Hancock and our Govt.’s stance on there being no “likely” direct link to COVID19 deaths and lack of PPE.

They’re clearly shitting themselves at the prospect of having NOT shifted themselves soon and reacted by trying to get the equipment necessary to protect those in the frontline. As a retired nurse I’m f***g furious on my colleagues behalf.

Typical Tory “run away!” reaction.

AIBU to think that when this is over, political heads should roll? That under no circumstances should the “heroes” of this debacle, end up sitting in the Lords?

I'm sorry? Are you saying I am evil?

Tonyaster · 12/04/2020 21:11

Hospital admissions in London are dropping. Noone in London with covid 19 who needed a ventilator was denied one. Hopefully admissions will continue to drop.

HannahStern · 12/04/2020 21:22

Even if hospital admissions are dropping in London, the number of patients in hospital is increasing and will continue to increase as the numbers of patients admitted continue to exceed the number of patients being discharged.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 12/04/2020 21:25

@Tonyaster do you have evidence of this? I really need to hear some positive. All we hear is the death, no numbers on positive vs recovered.
This will be my last post on here my mental health cannot cope with all of this. Please all take care

Aderyn19 · 12/04/2020 21:28

People are being pressured into signing DNR orders or having them signed by doctors against their will. That is a clear indication that there isn't enough equipment or staff

Bargebill19 · 12/04/2020 21:37

They are also pushing covid 19 positive patients into care homes that are currently covid19 free. When there are care homes that have vacant rooms and already have covid 19 positive residents.
It’s effectively spreading it further. Cases will rise as those staff will also become exposed to it as will their families.
I’m incensed by the stupidity and senselessness of it all.

Tonyaster · 12/04/2020 21:40

@HannahStern did you say I was evil?

Tonyaster · 12/04/2020 21:47

Rupertpenrysmistress

It's in the news today, London hospital admissions are dropping. Noone has died for lack of a ventilator.

The poster that said I was evil.for saying that must be mentally ill.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 12/04/2020 22:01

It gets hard to pick apart the details and figures, I feel like I am loosing the plot. I know my trust is not at full capacity for ventilators. Just to add I have not seen patients been pushed to sign DNR.

We must be sure and careful of what we say on here as non HCP will be reading this too. I have started my own supportive thread for HCP if anyone fancies popping along.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 12/04/2020 22:04

@HannahStern... I owe you an apology. I assumed you were being deliberately provocative upthread. I didn’t realise your true feelings.

@Rupertpenrysmistress... thank you for your input. I absolutely understand. I’m a little exhausted with this thread myself...and it’s of my making.

@Bargebill19. How’re you today? How are the card home owners allowing this to happen?

Goodnight all. Keep safe. Stay well.

The number of patients needing hospitalization in London is increasing. Hospital critical care units are overwhelmed by coronavirus patients. The numbers in hospital are increasing as admissions still exceed the numbers being discharged. Demand for critical care beds is still increasing.

Admissions to hospitals are being reduced as the ill are allowed to die at home or in their care homes.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 12/04/2020 22:07

@Rupertpenrysmistress... my mum was asked, in my presence, several times to sign DNR. She flatly refused. After her death, we requested her notes and there it was... the doctor said she had agreed to DNR.

OP posts:
Rupertpenrysmistress · 12/04/2020 22:23

That's the thing though people do not have a legal right to resus. If the doctor thinks it is in the patient's best interest they can say DNR.

The problem is we don't discuss DNR in this country often until a patient is critically ill, this does not give the family or patient time to digest the information.

I personally have never seen a situation where it has not be discussed with a conscious patient, yes unconscious/critically sick. Anything else is extremely poor practice but it is legal.

Bargebill19 · 12/04/2020 22:28

@TheLadyAnneNeville the care home managers allow it as it means money in the bank. Council are agreeing to pay 10% extra at this moment for care home places. The government paper states they will cover reasonable extra costs in staff and equipment. It’s all there in the public arena.
I did protest to my area manager and suggested an alternative to deliberately bringing in covid 19 into the home. Which we all thought would work. We had worked so hard for a month to keep everyone safe. Apparently I was basically stupid, misguided, misinformed etc and I would be reported to the owner. I saved bloke the cost of a phone call and quit. I would have been sacked anyway. At least this way I got to keep my belongings and say goodbye. I’ve already kissed goodbye to my last months wages as they do not pay if you quit without notice - it’s in their contract. I wasn’t about to leave behind my belonging too.
It’s not about lives, it’s about money.

Sorry I’m so very upset at the way we (care staff) will be blamed for such a large number of deaths. It will be forgotten that we don’t have the right equipment or trading or even the basics. It’ll be forgotten that we proposed alternative workable solutions.

Wow, it’s like the are playing ‘get it wrong bingo’ UK are in the lead.

Tonyaster · 13/04/2020 17:50

Maybe they weren't the right kind. Maybe the price was astronomical. Maybe they were already in talks with Dyson.

ssd · 13/04/2020 18:04

Wasnt this government clapping the nurses in the house of commons recently, when they vetoed their payrise and a certain side was braying and cheering at their own cleverness?

Tonyaster · 13/04/2020 18:10

Apparently they weren't clapping that at all.

Otherrooms · 13/04/2020 18:57

What has Clapping for the NHS & other networkers got to do with the shit show of the GOVT?!?
