What's this? (Marks in sky)

AIBU to wonder what this means?

A light aircraft made this pattern in the sky over our house today. Twice.

I think it's to mark someone's death or it's to make an Easter point about loving Jesus

Anyone know? Any thoughts?

(Missing the point a bit - but whatever it is, it doesn't look 'essential')

It’s the RAF practicing at high altitude! Loads of it going on just new because apparently the Russians are being naughty.

CoughKeepsOnComing · 10/04/2020 19:01

Really? Plane didn't look that high up, or particularly military...

wildflowersandweeds · 10/04/2020 19:03

Looks like the cross = love, so I'd assume it's an Easter message that Jesus is love

Buster72 · 10/04/2020 19:03

Chhemtrails!
It's going to react with the 5g

PatriciaHolm · 10/04/2020 19:04

I assume it's meant to mean God is Love.

Definitely a non essential journey!

Wow!

@Buster72, ha!

CoughKeepsOnComing · 10/04/2020 19:07

Definitely a non essential journey

That's what I thought!

(DH reckons it was something thanking the NHS, but I think the Easter/Jesus hypothesis is more likely!! I have to say, while it was nice to see and broke up the groundhog day, I did feel a bit 'meh..how come you get to fly about up there making pretty patterns, when we r all stuck down here in lockdown...')

Where are you op? I saw a light aircraft buzzing about over NW London earlier and thought it was weird. Didn’t see any sky writing though

MitziK · 10/04/2020 19:31

It means somebody with more money than sense has undertaken an entirely unnecessary journey in order to broadcast their Godliness.

The list doesn't stay only travel for

Food
Medical Care
Care for a Vulnerable Person
Work if you are unable to work from home (assuming this isn't a pilot taking the money where they can get it)
Exercise
Escaping Domestic Abuse
Showing off about how wealthy and religious you are

Lordfrontpaw · 10/04/2020 19:33

Well I’m sure they were over 2m away from most people... some people do have little planes as a hobby.

bettybattenburg · 10/04/2020 19:33

Yep, it's a religious message.
If you download the Flight Radar app you can have a look and see what is going on in the sky.

bettybattenburg · 10/04/2020 19:34

Sadly we've had to stop - all the clubs have had to close. (gliders, not light aircraft but I expect the restrictions are the same).

Ukholidaysaregreat · 10/04/2020 19:37

Aww - I think that is a nice message and uplifting. Assume they were pretty isolated in the sky.

LochJessMonster · 10/04/2020 19:38

If it was the one over Cambridge/Milton is was the church and its ✝️=❤️ for Easter

They had permission from the local MP and Council to do it.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/04/2020 19:38

Perhaps it’s the men in their 50s with their 20-something “companions” who were turned back from France

2tired2bewitty · 10/04/2020 19:40

Are you just north of Cambridge? I think it’s an Easter message that says The Cross = Love, which is what Christians believe

LuluJakey1 · 10/04/2020 19:40

Lovely blue sky!

GreyGardens88 · 10/04/2020 19:41

Sky writing is illegal I believe? Wonder how they got away with that

LochJessMonster · 10/04/2020 19:41

The Cambridge one was done by the C3 Church. They do it every year.

Shock So something religious = the right to break the rules?

I wonder what reaction I will get if I ask my MP if I can go gliding tomorrow as the weather looks perfect for it. I'm sure she won't mind.

LochJessMonster · 10/04/2020 19:46

They said ‘the authorities think it’s good to do in such difficult days and sends an encouraging message’

It was a nice thing to see on such a beautiful Easter Friday.

Loveletters123 · 10/04/2020 19:47

I saw a man paragliding this week and thought that wasn’t an essential journey either!
