Neighbour spraying my weeds

Clappingforjoy · 09/04/2020 19:13

Okay so I'm not a gardener and have tried and tried to keep my garden under some kind of control with the weeds but have never had the money to change it in the way of converting it to a concrete jungle to avoid the maintenance.
Upstairs is senior couple who keep theirs neat and unfortunately they look over onto my lovely garden and it's open at the side meaning that I have to go over onto theirs for access to my shed so I get that my garden is thrown in thier face pretty often.
However how would you feel if she came over into your garden spraying your weeds without asking.

I’d be grateful. Everyone should take care of their garden. It’s antisocial to inflict unkempt gardens on your neighbours.

Clappingforjoy · 09/04/2020 19:28

No kids or pets so that's not a issue

Id be thrilled. In fact i might start leaving my garden gate open, see if I get any takers.

Clappingforjoy · 09/04/2020 19:29

I am going out there tomorrow to try and do something with it and maybe impress them lol

Our neighbour does the whole front of the cul de sac we’re in, sadly he doesn’t do the back lol, we all chip in n offer him something for the cost of the stuff he uses (professional stuff we get mares tail).

You thank them. Gardens really need weekly attention unfortunately.. I’d love not to cut the grass for a month.

MeerkatMolly · 09/04/2020 19:31

It depends what they were using to spray them and if it was toxic to animals etc. If it was then I would be pleased!

bubblesforlife · 09/04/2020 19:33

Nice neighbours! Say thank you, they might do more

disorganisedsecretsquirrel · 09/04/2020 19:33

Good for you OP, give it a go. Gardening is also good exercise so may help with weight issue.

Also agree with asking them for advice, if they are keen gardeners they will probably be delighted to advise (and maybe even help you ! )

gamerchick · 09/04/2020 19:34

I'd go fucking nuts! Are they aware what weed killer does to bees that depend on dandelion flowers this time of year and in autumn? Nobody would spray my garden again. Selfish fuckers.

YeahWhatevver · 09/04/2020 19:40

I used to live I na house where the front lawn was shared with the neighbour.

Remember the day DH cut all the grass rather than just our half, leaving theirs long and neighbour was round within 15 minutes talking about calling the police for criminal damage and ho we had no right to cut his lawn.

Honestly some people are just arseholes.

lowlandLucky · 09/04/2020 19:41

If you cant garden offer them the space to perform their magic and pay them a monthly amount i.e £20 so you are buying their sevices and they cant claim the land in years to come.

MayorPrentiss · 09/04/2020 19:42

I agree with @gamerchick - no one needs to use weedkiller it's dreadful for local ecosystems and much of it is now being banned. Unless your garden is causing a problem in some way it's really unnecessary of her to interfere.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 09/04/2020 19:42

I would be furious. Firstly because the weeds at this time of year are what the bees feed on (dandelions) and secondly, I don't want toxic chemicals sprayed on my garden

bettybattenburg · 09/04/2020 19:45

I would be really annoyed if my neighbours did that, therefore I keep my garden weed free as much as possible.

MissDollyMix · 09/04/2020 19:47

Our ndn sprays all the weeds on our shared drive and then usually does a few on our private drive too. I am extremely grateful to him for it! Grin

Reversiblesequinsforadults · 09/04/2020 19:51

Weedkiller is horrible toxic stuff. It's terrible for insects, birds and small mammals. I'd have a fit! However, perhaps now is the time to make a bit of effort with the garden. It'll help you feel a bit fitter too.

WineIsMyMainVice · 09/04/2020 19:51

I’d be furious as weed killer kills bees too!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/04/2020 19:52

I'll be pissed off. My garden, my weeds, get the fuck out.

Last thing we need is more spoon being sprayed willy nilly.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/04/2020 19:53

Yes, it kills bees, bugs, birds and good neighbourly relations.

Twats.

how is that even remotely relevant to OP's post?

What happened to reading comprehension?

Enough4me · 09/04/2020 19:55

If it's a few weeds they are helping you with, be grateful and give them a bottle of wine at Christmas.

TwistyHair · 09/04/2020 19:55

I agree with @gamerchick I’d be furious if someone used weed killer on my garden. If they were that annoyed at your garden, they should have come and spoken to you about it. I love dandelions

Appiandterri · 09/04/2020 19:58

Unless your garden is causing a problem in some way

They will be sending seeds into their lovely garden. I’m not saying what they did was right but OP having a garden full of weeds will be affecting their garden.

user1465335180 · 09/04/2020 20:09

I'm an organic gardener (no weedkillers, fungicides, pesticides) so I'd be bloody furious but then I keep my garden tidy

GameSetMatch · 09/04/2020 20:11

My lovely neighbours weeds garden for me and even painted my fence last year! Amazing! I don’t care in the slightest it great.
