Do you think I can fit in a 1 week holiday this year? Or is 2020 a complete write off? Not thinking of a UK holiday!

Do you think that air travel will be unavailable for the rest of the year or will some flights start maybe June/July time?

The lockdown will stop (I am thinking maybe beginning of May) eventually so what happens next?

You are so wrong. Yes i have vast experience working internationally. I currently work with 12 different countries related to this pandemic.
Anyone coming from the uk will not be welcome due to the handling of this.

3luckystars · 12/04/2020 15:32

Do not come to Ireland. Please.

notimagain · 12/04/2020 15:53

I don't think for one minute it will take a "generation" for the Brits to be welcomed overseas but from what I have seen so far the lack of urgency/lack of testing has not gone down well in some parts of the world and has caused travel difficulties for Brits abroad.

Fluffybutter · 12/04/2020 18:19

No idea .. you’re still talking rot

Matildathehun77 · 12/04/2020 18:46

Well, we weren't popular before and I don't think this is going to have helped..... but once tourism is in full swing again (whenever that is) they'll take our money readily enough!!

Lemonblast · 12/04/2020 18:48

I can’t imagine travel insurance will be particularly easy to come by.
I wouldn’t even consider travel abroad for at least 18 months.

flowerycurtain · 12/04/2020 19:21

We've got a week in our caravan booked in early July. I'm hopeful it'll be possible.

If not I'll be more than chuffed If we can get away to it later in the year. Or head to a lovely hotel for a weekend.

I can't see us Being allowed to travel for leisure purposes for at least a year.

March20 · 12/04/2020 22:57

@Spied I totally agree it is depressing. But unless we want to relapse it’s best we do this lock down properly!. Schools won’t be going back till September.. at least then when they do there could be an outbreak in a school it wouldn’t take much. UK numbers aren’t falling low enough to lift the ban. I think other Countries will welcome us back as it’s business and money is money.

BenjiB · 13/04/2020 10:23

No one can know what’s going to happen. I’m looking at China every day as it keeps me hopeful.

Fluffybutter · 13/04/2020 12:04

Schools won’t be going back till September.. You don’t know that!!
I wish people would stop stating stuff as fact!
Not even the government know yet, so you have the inside track do you ?!

bumblingbovine49 · 13/04/2020 12:10

Please don't Mt brother ok anything yet. People are finding themsleves trapped in countries abroad. What is there is a flare up of cases and borders start closing again while you are away? Will.you.expect the government.to come and get you?

I don't think holiday travel abroad is going to be feasible before early next year

Oysterbabe · 13/04/2020 12:12

I'm hoping we'll be able to go to the Caribbean in the winter but will wait and see, certainly not booking anything.

LakieLady · 13/04/2020 12:18

I think until we have a vaccine, overseas travel is a very bad idea.

I wouldn't blame any country that refused to let in UK travellers, after the tardy response of our government to risks that were known about soon after the start of the year.

Gottalovesummer · 13/04/2020 12:20

Airlines such as Ryanair and easyjet are now taking bookings from mid June onwards.

I am assuming they are fairly confident that people will be able to actually use these flights.

So assuming this, I would imagine that holidays to Europe will go ahead this summer.

NeverYouMind123 · 13/04/2020 12:26

I have a trip to Majorca booked in October, thankfully I took out insurance before this all happened. I would love to be able to go, but I'm really not expecting it to be possible. Even if it is... I think I've been put off travelling anywhere outside England this year :-(

CokeEnStock · 13/04/2020 12:32

I think a lot of borders will stay closed to all but essential travel for quite some time.

rookiemere · 13/04/2020 16:46

Gottalovesummer unlike us airlines aren't well advised to take a wait and see attitude. I would imagine they have a bit more information than we do, but equally are trying to get some money into their accounts and even if flights don't go - the majority of the funding can be kept for future travel.

I'd love to go somewhere this summer - anywhere really. We have Easyjet connecting flights for a big trip that is no longer going to happen, and closer to the time I'll see where we are allowed to travel to and swap them to that, or if we aren't able to then we will keep them somewhere else.

banana64 · 13/04/2020 18:02

@Fluffybuttter are you a bit dim love.
Uk citizens wont be welcome. Is that too hard for you to process?
Other countries will not allow you access.
Do you follow that clearly now?

justkeeprunning5 · 13/04/2020 18:24

Im currently pregnant after a long struggle & we had so many plans in mind for interesting trips this year ‘whilst we still can’ (Thankfully nothing actually booked!!). I’ve written off bing able to go anywhere abroad, but am holding out hope of a few days at a spa hotel in the UK come autumn. I imagine restrictions will be in place until next year.

Fluffybutter · 13/04/2020 18:31

@banana64 Are you a bit of a twat ,love?
Seems so ..

TimeAintNothing · 13/04/2020 18:44

Sure.... because Spain will blame Dave from Scunthorpe for government policy decisions. You sound a bit like you're loving this, running around with your sandwich board rubbing your little "doom, dooooooooom" bell.

Of course other countries will allow entry and especially once an effective treatment and/or vaccine is found, they will need the tourism money just as much as the UK will.

banana64 · 13/04/2020 18:47

Nope not loving this. I live in a place where our government actually give a shit and isnt run by morons.
Uk will not be allowed travel. Get used to it.

TimeAintNothing · 13/04/2020 18:48

Uk will not be allowed travel. Get used to it.

Proof? One tiny little scrap of evidence for this?

No.

None.

Because it doom-mongering rubbish.

worriedmama16 · 13/04/2020 19:02

Uk will not be allowed to travel??? For a generation??? Horseshit

blueshoes · 13/04/2020 19:26

banana64 why so angry?

Doubt Ireland is high up on list of desirable places to visit once lockdown is over. Enjoy it all to yourself.
