To ask for a handhold

Tunnocks34 · 08/04/2020 22:54

My 7 month old son, born with only one full working long, has become very irritable this evening. Temperature, and a mild dry cough.

I had cough last week. Very mild with no temperature and didn’t feel unwell (still did the isolation regardless).

Praying he has a bug/cold/teething. Anything but corona. I won’t be sleeping tonight for sure.

My hand is here.
Are you on your own?

Tunnocks34 · 08/04/2020 23:01

No husband is here too. Baby fallen asleep now. Still warm but temp is coming down. Normally
I’d just be like ‘oh it’s a little cold let’s watch him’ now it’s suddenly worst case scenario.

It’s scary enough anyway. Just keep him cool. Have you got a good book or something to keep you going?

Tunnocks34 · 08/04/2020 23:08

Yep. Got the kindle out. We’re taking it in shifts. Husband first, me second.

Oh what a terrible worry. I hope everything's OK.

EugenesAxe · 08/04/2020 23:10

Holding your hand; I’m sure you must be worried and there’s not much any of us can say to stop you being so.

Chances are it will be fine but try and keep your head and if it turns out to be your worst fears, have faith in the doctors and your lovely baby to come through OK xx

SomethingBlue22 · 08/04/2020 23:10

Hand hold here OP. Hopefully he will be more settled on waking up.

helgahelga · 08/04/2020 23:21

@Tunnocks34

Hand hold, and a prayer. Smile

Hope it's just hay fever.

PLEASE keep an eye on him and don't hesitate to take him to A & E if you are worried. Better safe than sorry. Flowers

Leaannb · 08/04/2020 23:58

As a mom and more omportantly as a nurse don't feel bad about needing a handhold. Its a scary time for everyone and everyone including pros are going with worst case scenario. Keep taking little one's temp but if you ever get that niggling, gut feeling that something is wrong take your LO into A &E. You won't be wasting resources. You won't be looked down on. Just take care of your LO

EKGEMS · 09/04/2020 01:12

I'm a mom and a nurse and understand where you are coming from! My son was born prematurely with underdeveloped lungs and was oxygen dependent for three years. He was medically fragile for the first six years of life then much healthier the older he grew.
He is now nineteen. I'd be so terrified if he was a baby during this outbreak! Best of luck

HonkersVonFlapperson · 09/04/2020 03:40

You need to call 111 immediately if anyone who is shielding develops symptoms - I am making the assumption he is on the shielded list with what you have said?

Hand holding and sending a big virtual hug.

Pondlife87 · 09/04/2020 04:09

How is your little man OP? X

Ifeelinclined · 09/04/2020 04:10

We are here. Holding your hand.

ButterflyWitch · 09/04/2020 04:37

Hand holding. How is he?

Tunnocks34 · 09/04/2020 06:48

He still has a temp and a mild cough but nothing has changed really. He’s smiling in between whinging moments.

Tunnocks34 · 09/04/2020 07:20

Me again - so he is alert, eating, smiling in bursts etc. I can’t get his temperature down with calpol. Don’t want to give nurofen in case it is corona. I’m on hold to 111 but the wait is over an hour. Is a high temp on its own a concern. I’d even say his cough is a bit better - it’s certainly not hacking or overly consistent.

OP posts:
Tunnocks34 · 09/04/2020 07:21

honkers he’s not on the vulnerable list although we have shielded him ourselves, he doesn’t fall under the official vulnerable list. No clue why!
