I'm not sure yet but I'll probably pay for a month and then see what other features they bring in.

Thread by Justine incase you haven't seen it

Ha yep exactly. Now each time I get a sarky reply I think tg the site will be pulled (maybe) and I won’t waste my time here anymore.

Hingeandbracket · 10/04/2020 13:36

The website could be written better by a 16 year old
Most 16 year olds I know would actually have made a better job of it.

Carbosug · 10/04/2020 13:43

Mumsnet
I'd pay a fiver a month if you got rid of the whiners, the obtuse, the perennially offended, and the unintelligent sneerets who seem to have invaded MN in recent years.

Bring back Hullygully, LaQueen et al.

Carbosug · 10/04/2020 13:44

Sneerets not sneerets.

Oh for an edit button Grin

Carbosug · 10/04/2020 13:45

Aagh SNEERERS

MarshaBradyo · 10/04/2020 13:46

Oh god no. They must be somewhere else though can you join them there?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 10/04/2020 13:49

Maybe a site like this has a shelf-life anyway? A bit like Cath Kidston...It probably started off from the same cosy kitchen table type of USP!!

I also think that some of the very prolific posters (who have helped to generate an enormous amount of content in their time) should be paid.

HennyPenny4 · 10/04/2020 13:51

Surely a recipe for hard ups to bombard the site with made up twaddle.

TBRuton · 10/04/2020 13:56

While I still enjoy it, I spend less time here than ever. Keep leaving and coming back though

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 10/04/2020 14:00

I might have considered it (data breaches aside) even five years ago but these days MN has so many snarling, aggressive and obnoxious posters that anyone seeking help or advice is more likely to get abuse than support.

I know sites change as they grow and yes, AIBU was always “robust” but it’s no longer anything like the supportive parenting site it was when I first came across it more than a decade ago. MN actively pushed AIBU to get more traffic, more media attention and more members. As a result many people joined purely because they enjoyed the argumentative nature of that topic and unfortunately the increasingly aggressive and abrasive “tone” of AIBU was allowed to contaminate the whole site.

Those posters couldn’t give a shit whether MN survives or not - they see it is light entertainment or an opportunity to feel good for a minute while they give a stranger a kicking and will just go off to other sites and snarl at posters there.

Those who really valued having a little corner of the internet that was populated by mostly women, sharing experiences, advice and perspective, were shoved aside years ago as MN pursued volume and advertisers. Why on earth would we now start paying for what it’s become Confused?

alloutoffucks · 10/04/2020 14:01

Maybe instead of the current premium membership, MN could allow a fixed number of comments per poster per day for free and unlimited for a oayment?

Tonyaster · 10/04/2020 14:02

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe totally agree

Carbosug · 10/04/2020 14:04

I agree Newmodel.

It's a bit like those tv series that start off with a small cast and quality storylines, then after a few years begin to meander off course - the storylines becoming less interesting and coherent, the original cast drifting away and being replaced by ex soap actors etc.

You keep watching for a while hoping it will go back to what it was, before eventually switching off.

lol not sure what wen't wrong there and can't edit, maybe not allowed to mention the competition

MarshaBradyo · 10/04/2020 14:11

That’ll be deleted pdq but I clicked that link. Interesting first topic ;

PleaseStopCrying · 10/04/2020 14:13

Very interesting Marsha.

DameHannahRelf · 10/04/2020 14:13

I signed up for a month, will cancel next month, if enough do even that, the site should be able to remain open? Mumsnet was a massive help to me, when I was leaving my abusive ex dp, more so than the police, womens aid, friends and family who didn't get it etc, so I don't mind giving a bit back. I couldn't afford the yearly fee though.

NerrSnerr · 10/04/2020 14:14

37 members. I don't think they're the competition quite yet.

Faffandahalf · 10/04/2020 14:16

TBR I can click on that link.

So this is a new forum that just started today? But who is running it? And is it safe to use?

Thighmageddon · 10/04/2020 14:16

I've clicked the link too.

This could get very interesting indeed.

I'll just stay on here a while longer instead of doing something constructive Grin

Likefootball · 10/04/2020 14:16

I'd like to, but £50 a year is a bit too much for me.
£20 is a bit nearer the mark.

TBRuton · 10/04/2020 14:17

Ha well trying to be the competition, I think they only started this morning.

But that's the thing MN really needs to make it special because at the moment it's very replaceable

MamaMeeAh · 10/04/2020 14:17

My head would be blown if people desert MN for a forum set up by the Tattle mods. Who runs Tattle? It is a complete unknown.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 10/04/2020 14:17

No sorry I love Mumsnet but no money at all coming into the house and this would definitely be deemed non essential
