Furlough on full pay? (Somewhat lighthearted)

queeniequeeni · 08/04/2020 10:19

Aibu to think we should make a list of all the the employers who are furloughing staff but kindly topping them up to full pay!? (And get jobs with them in future! Grin)Are there many ppl on here who are being furloughed on FULL pay?

I doubt there are because most small business employers have absolutely no income coming in so have no money to top up. Nothing lighthearted for me about that I'm afraid. It's incredibly stressful knowing your livelihood is disappearing.

queeniequeeni · 08/04/2020 10:45

@babypossum I have seen plenty of ppl on Mumsnet say they are being topped up to full pay so I just wondered how many of these employers there actually are? The lighthearted is in reference to actually making a list.

My DH is; big car manufacturer. Not sure how long the full pay will be for though

StormBaby · 08/04/2020 10:56

I am. Work for a large very famous sofa company.
Not sure how long for as of yet, but at the moment it's full pay. We can also have zoom calls with the chief exec to ask questions, there is a counselling service in place. I've only been there 12 weeks. I am incredibly lucky that I moved jobs. My old place was a full time but zero hours contract. 😱

QuitMoaning · 08/04/2020 10:59

My partner has closed his business (temporarily) and is topping up his 8 staff members and will continue to do so until the money runs out. He isn’t drawing anything himself as we can survive on my salary (still working from home easily).

Once the money runs out they will have to cope with 80% but he is doing the best he can.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/04/2020 10:59

I am. i work for a designer company (mostly handbags), beginning with "M".

Blobby10 · 08/04/2020 11:02

Family engineering business - I have just furloughed our staff on full pay for 3 weeks. They deserve it - they've been here since they left school and the youngest is 42. Fingers crossed that we can come back in May to some orders.

turnthebiglightoff · 08/04/2020 11:03

I am. Work for a big UK brand. It's very generous, and furlough is great with a baby and no childcare but I am hugely missing being involved in my work which is a big part of me.

bookworm14 · 08/04/2020 11:05

I am. I work for a small charity but we’ve got quite a lot in the bank.

SlipSlidin · 08/04/2020 11:05

I am, it’s a non profit making governing body.

whataballbag · 08/04/2020 11:05

I'm furloughed in full pay. Surprising really as the owner of the business is the tightest meanest man I've ever met

inwood · 08/04/2020 11:06

My firm is topping up to full pay if furlough takes you under the equivalent of 25k pa.

The rest of us not furloghed and on 25k pa+ have taken cuts from 10-50% supposedly for three months but can see it being more.

Construction industry.

potter5 · 08/04/2020 11:07

I am. Work for large family owned company. Treated very well all the time. Been here for 15 years.

queeniequeeni · 08/04/2020 11:07

Also construction/housing industry, should've said

UnfinishedSymphon · 08/04/2020 11:08

My partner is, he works for a small company, I work for a large Worldwide company and won't get full pay if furloughed...I find out this afternoon if furloughed or pay cut

catsarelifetome · 08/04/2020 11:13

National Trust is paying their furloughed employees 100%

allinit2gether · 08/04/2020 11:17

My husband runs a sales type business. He is topping up his top billers that have always gone over and beyond to 100% but the rest are on 80%. He won't be able to do that indefinitely though. We are a small business and will run out of money if things dont get moving again soon.

ThirtyAndASmidgen · 08/04/2020 11:22

The AA is paying their furloughed employees in full.

DonnaDarko · 08/04/2020 11:26

I am being furloughed on full pay.

Not a big company either. There is money coming in but it's a substantial drop week on week so they're looking to save money before things get drastic. Plus, they knew I was trying to look after my son and work. They are confident I will be back at work once the lockdown is lifted.

isseywith4vampirecats · 08/04/2020 11:26

TGI Fridays full pay for up to 3 months and our jobs safe when this is over

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 08/04/2020 11:35

I’m still working (office based job). But anyone who can’t WFH is being paid their full salary for up to 3 months. Even the people who work on site but aren’t employed by my company (e.g. the cleaners and the catering staff who work in the canteen and any other contractors). Plus the company has loaned lab equipment (together with volunteers to operate it) to one of the government testing labs. And donated all the spare PPE (gloves, goggles, etc) to the NHS. Oh, and switched a factory line to making hand sanitiser.

KaptenKrusty · 08/04/2020 11:36

Work at a small company- no top up now but my boss said she aims to give us a bonus when we return.. business can’t afford to pay us now (it’s a nursery) id rather not have the top up but have a job to return to at the end of all this tbh!

Plus I’m spending way less money now being at hone - no commuting costs, no going on nights out, no buying lunch at work - so losing 20% is not the worst thing
