To think the ITV drama Quiz looks cringe?

I remember the real life event and I keep seeing the advert for it.

Chris Tarrant, Charles Ingram and his wife look like caricatures of themselves.

When it’s ok? That sounds like it could be potentially hilarious. Why does this need a drama series about it? Lol.

I meant when’s it on, not when’s it ok. It’s never ok.

From the OP it sounds like the coughing scandal on Who wants to be a millionaire. But I don’t get the need for a drama (THREE parts!?!! 😂) We know the outcome: Man tried to cheat via person in audience coughing, got found out, did not become millionaire.

Yes I just looked it up and I think I do remember it happening, I was in my teens then. I too wonder how that is three episode’s worth! They’ll need a lot of backstory

I just told DH about it and of course he pointed out that they’re putting on a drama about a cough during the coronavirus pandemic 🙄

I think the drama might extend into the trial. Their post-trial (no spoilers) experiences look like they've had some interesting experiences since.

I think the court case is in it too, so potential ..

Episode 1 - wins a million
Episode 2 - caught .. court case
Episode 3 - aftermaths

Producers can stretch out anything if they believe it’ll make money.

I just find it interesting they thought no one would realise! They just happened to cough at the right moment..not sure can drag it out 3 episodes mind

Martin Sheen looked and sounded like a brilliantly comic Chris Tarrant. He had the voice down pat. The promo definitely looked like a comedy sketch

It's got Michael Sheen, he's always very watchable.

With Matthew MacFadyen and Michael Sheen I’d be very surprised if it was rubbish.

Well it's based on a successful west end play by a fantastic playwright (who wrote Ink and this House among other hits which I loved). The cast is also awesome. So - while ITV don't always make the best drama serials overall - it's pretty much the opposite of cringe in my book. Down to you personal taste I guess.

The leads are quality so probably decent drama. Fuck all else to do if you’re furloughed so yabu and stop being so negative.

Initially I thought shite/ cringe but am now surprisingly interested to see how it was planned and how they thought they could pull it off. And how they were investigated and caught. So come to think of it - I’m defo now going to watch it!! We must come back to this thread after/start a new thread with reviews!

I also thought it was a bit weird to make a drama about the coughing scandal at the present time when a repetitive cough is a main symptom of covid 19.
