To think TV should show more feel good repeats?

For those people without Netflix etc, what repeats would cheer you up? My top ones would be:

Downtown Abbey (to drool over the Abbey and outfits)
Relocation Relocation (Kirstie and Phil always make me laugh)
The Americans (fantastic US spy drama)

I wish BBC would re-run Roger and Val Have Just Got In.

It's generally feel good with a sort of sad undertone of them having had some heartache somewhere along the line. It's uplifting to see a couple happy and comfortable after what they have been through.

Faffandahalf · 06/04/2020 13:17

I agree though I don’t think anyone could possibly put The Americans down as feel good tvGrin. I’ve watched the whole brilliant thing and uplifting and warm it is not!

I was thinking more along the lines of classic comedies or gentle Sunday dramas

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 06/04/2020 13:20

Isn't that why they've put French and Saunders (and similar stuff) up on iPlayer?

Roundtoedshoes · 06/04/2020 13:27

I’d like to see the The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency television series back on. Only 7 episodes, but I love the books and it was a great adaptation. A gentle watch.

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 06/04/2020 13:30

None of those would make me feel good. Who determines what's 'feel good'? Hmm

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/04/2020 13:39

Buffy. I know it's not really "feel good" but it's my favourite show and I sold of all my DVDs due to lack of space. There's often reruns on the Syfy channel but it's not been on for ages!

TotesGodsWill · 06/04/2020 13:42

There’s loads on the various free services like bbc iplayer, itv player, 4od etc

BerthaBear · 06/04/2020 14:43

Faffandahalf- you're right, The Americans probably is not feel good .It certainly got the adrenaline going though!

Also the original Anne of Green Gables with Megan Follows. The scenery in that was breathtakingly and the story was heartwarming.

So many people watched the Queen's broadcast last night and it's good to have uplifting moments like that.

There are literally hundreds of Phil and Kirstie episodes on All4 (free) and repeated on a loop on More4.

DianneWhatcock · 06/04/2020 16:59

My DDs and I have been watching Malory towers on iplayer, it is a lovely and relaxing thing to watch.

LeMarais · 06/04/2020 17:07

They did a tv series of Malory Towers?! How did I not know this, that’s my viewing sorted for the week! Smile

DubiousGoals · 06/04/2020 17:10

Waxon All of Buffy (and Angel) is on Prime

WillWinterEverEnd · 06/04/2020 17:12

I have been watching loads of Location, location, location, Grand designs and Vicar of Dibley to help take my mind off things.

RaininSummer · 06/04/2020 17:16

I would love a rerun of the Onedin Line.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 06/04/2020 17:21

I think the BBC needs to reflect run The Good Life in a prime time slot, I think it’s a comforting and very appropriate for the times we are in.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 06/04/2020 17:22

Re run not reflect run!

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 06/04/2020 17:23

No to anything with Kirstie "jump ship to her 2nd home" Allsop, thanks.

But yes, good idea in principle.

How about some clips of Mr Motivator, just for laughs.
Friday Night Dinner is available on 4OD, & they're just bringing out a new series too.

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 06/04/2020 17:23

Yes to The Good Life! And in a similar vein, I would love The Darling Buds Of May!

Marmite27 · 06/04/2020 17:24

Dinnerladies!

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/04/2020 17:26

The BBC put Malory Towers out earlier than planned due to the lockdown.

Look on iPlayer in the ‘From the Archive’ section. They have started to put things like French and Saunders on there.

I wish BBC would re-run Roger and Val Have Just Got In.
I agree, the best series that no one ever saw. It was just wonderful.

DinosApple · 06/04/2020 17:26

We've started on a box set (DVD) of Jeeves and Wooster. It's funny and the DC are enjoying it too.

I love a bit of light hearted escapism.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 06/04/2020 17:27

You can have a free month of Britbox.

Then another free month of Britbox using a different email and card no.

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/04/2020 17:27

@Marmite27. I think Dinnerladies is on Netflix now, or it will be soon.

ArriettyJones · 06/04/2020 17:27

The Americans always has a few episodes available on the ITV app (so probably constantly running on one of their minor channels?). It’s one of the few things on ITV I love.

Icare1234 · 06/04/2020 17:34

I’d loveJeeves and Wooster if only for the theme. House of Elliott.
Otoh maybe I don’t want the dramas and comedies because they may have dated - sexism, racism or just being used to slicker stuff. I’d love to see West wing again.
