Has anyone ever won a magazine competition?

Out of furlough/lockdown boredom I have been indulging in my guilty pleasure of women's magazines (think Take A Break, Love It, etc) and doing the competitions.

AIBU to ask if anyone here has actually won any of these competitions? Especially the big prizes, such as the £10000 wins and luxury holidays.

Would be interesting to know if anyone has won anything

I've won from Take a Break, That's Life, Chat and Daily Mirror to name a few.

I've won cash, TVs, ipods, games consoles etc. Don't do it much now but used to comp several hours a day. I had to give up work due to ill health and it kept me sane in the early days.

I won a ticket to a theme park years ago. I can't remember which one it was, or what magazine I entered.

I won a signed Roxy Music album in a Smash Hits competition in 1982.

I won a wooden gazebo from House Beautiful about 13 years ago.

DD won £50 ToysRUs vouchers once. She was about 5 and asked for a magazine because it had an ad for the competition on the front and she wanted the vouchers. I tried to explain it was a competition, she would be very unlikely to get them etc etc but she didn't really get it. For about a week she asked every day when she would be getting her vouchers. And then just when she had forgotten, I got an email to say she had won .

A colleague once won a car. I think from take a break.

I won a few things from wedding ideas magazine when i was wedding planning. Including a pair of shoes.

Yes I won a photo shoot.

I won a fiver in a Bunty fashion design competition in 1990 does that count?

I won a car from That's Life! many years ago. Also smaller wins £100, £25... My mantra is "you've got to be in it to win it" Get comping and good luck OP

I won a mascara from cosmopolitan 10 years ago

My friend had her recipe published. Turkey a la mango. She never actually cooked it herself, just made it up, submitted it, and got it published.

I won Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles, 7” poster sleeve, from Smash Hits c 1986.

I can even remember the question: where would a polar bear meet a penguin?
A) the North Pole
B) the South Pole
C) the zoo

I won a sleepover kit from Just17 magasine. It was 4 dime bars, a tube of mud mask and a video of the film Calendar Girls starring Luke Perry.

I won a pram and a car seat in 1993, from a magazine, I think it was Mother and Baby.

My ex’s mum won loads over the years, Christmas tree, holiday to Lapland, random stuff. He must have inherited the winning streak as won a large tv. Most entered via online, radio or magazines. I have entered several and not won a thing.

Won a Rangers v Leeds Utd video from the Rangers News almost 30 years ago- was so excited! Won tickets to see the Charlatans, a DVD of something, a few vouchers etc. out of Sunday supplements. Won a meal at Six by Nico Manchester when it opened through a website- that was a particular highlight. Given that I don't enter many, I feel v lucky :)

Got into comping for a few weeks last year. I won £100 primark vouchers after I’d long given up. My teen Dd was very happy about that.

Won a competition in a (now defunct) magazine to be the face/hair of a (now defunct) shampoo...

Won £1k with that’s life, think I won £200 with take a break...,I enter a lot of competitions!!

I know someone who won a car and someone else who won a new bathroom. My husband is a woodworker and has won several tools entering competitions in woodworking magazines.
