"In the blink of an eye their lives turned upside down, they were expected to follow rules they've never known and their lives changed in ways they couldn't imagine" was very much how DD felt about starting Reception, not so much about this though.

TheMustressMhor · 04/04/2020 20:56

Someone has written that 10% of the population are dying.

Eh?

pinkyredrose · 04/04/2020 20:56

I miss Brexit sad Grin

slartibarti · 04/04/2020 20:57

Mine deserve a slap not a clap.

barnabybenny · 04/04/2020 20:57

I’ll clap for the NHS as often as I’m asked to - they are the heroes and if that’s the best I can do for them then I’ll do it.

Clap for kids?
Dance to S Club fucking 7
Not a chance.

Why don’t we just focus on following the rules rather than turning this into some sort of party? When people start following the rules properly then, and only then, will I stand on my doorstep and dance to SClub 7.

YouTheCat · 04/04/2020 20:58

I could clap my arse cheeks if you like? Might take a bit of effort but I reckon I could pull it off without too much collateral damage. Grin

JorisBonson · 04/04/2020 20:59

Well that went down like a fart in a spacesuit.

bettybattenburg · 04/04/2020 20:59

I feel that if you haven't got anything nice to say don't say it at all

and I feel that if all you have to offer is pointless virtue signalling which you think makes you look good then don't bother.

I went to FB to have a look at Shine a Light for Coronavirus. I have never come across anything more vomit-inducing. What is wrong with people?

They want a cause to make them feel good and like they belong? Like the followers of the tragic cases of Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans (nb not the families, I mean the unrelated people who got involved)

As my mother would say, " Child, do as you're bid."

Seriously OP, you really need to think of this as a long term issue.

TheMamaYo · 04/04/2020 21:00

Just fucking no. I expect my children to behave themselves like decent human beings and follow the rules. They don’t need applause for that. They are gorgeous and loved but just no. They’ll get a standing ovation from me when they do something that is deserving of that, not for staying home. It’s not special, it’s necessary. This Stupid clapping idea fits into the whole ‘entitled’ culture in my opinion.

Clapping for frontline NHS workers the first time was a whole different story.

acatcalledjohn · 04/04/2020 21:00

Get to fuck.

Monkei · 04/04/2020 21:00

I think it’s a nice ideaSmile

PineappleDanish · 04/04/2020 21:00

GabsAlot · 04/04/2020 21:01

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/04/2020 21:01

Utter shite. Deeply embarrassing.

willdoitinaminute · 04/04/2020 21:02

It’s competitive clapping. We’ll be clapping every night for one person or another. I am a rebel anti clapper.
I’d happily do a slow clap for any idiot who bought enough loo roll to wrap their local hospital in and those who fail to understand that social distancing includes them and essential journeys do not include a daily trip to Tescos to see what new restrictions they’ve put in place or to ask random strangers in the queue if they clapped last night.

morecoffeerequired · 04/04/2020 21:02

Any child who is too little to understand about staying safe from bad germs is also going to be too little to understand why mummy or daddy is clapping.

It's a complete and utter waste of time.

We'd might as well clap for all the dogs who have had to make do with one walk a day.

Dreamersandwishers · 04/04/2020 21:02

OP
You’ve gone too far . Killed it . 😳

Winterwoollies · 04/04/2020 21:02

Yeah, kids are not heroes here. Get a shitting grip.

JellyfishandShells · 04/04/2020 21:03

I assumed the OP was being sarcastic - then doubled down with every subsequent post . Do they actually mean it ?! Dear God.

YeahWhatevver · 04/04/2020 21:03

Boogie for bus drivers.
Twerk for teachers
Wave for warehouse workers

Utter crap op. Please don't encourage this shit.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/04/2020 21:03

This one isn’t even an invitation! At least the 7pm one is!

WriteAndErase · 04/04/2020 21:03

So clapping at 3 and dancing at 7. And what's times the queen on at?
