Ocado out of chocolate

PerfidiousAlbion · 04/04/2020 18:26

Posting here for traffic.

My Ocado order is finally due tomorrow night after weeks of waiting.

I thought I’d add a few things to it (chocolate - I’m hormonal) but noticed that a) I can’t. All orders are locked down and more importantly b) ALL the chocolate is out of stock!

Is chocolate the new toilet roll?

Honestly, it was a choice between some unheard of champaign truffles and doggy choc drops! That’s it! All the Cadbury’s was unavailable.

I suppise what Im asking is, shouldnt there be an abundance of chocolate bars, eggs etc. in the run up to Easter?

Before anyone says it, Yes, this is all I have to think about and yes, I know Coronavirus etc. and I’m lucky to be breathing.

Has anyone else noticed a run on chocolate?

It must just be that particular Ocado stock because I’ve seen absolute stacks of it in Tesco and my local co op

PerfidiousAlbion · 04/04/2020 19:06

Definitely not my experience in SE London. We joked during the worst of the panic buying that we could lived on Easter eggs and chocolate bars if all else was cleared 😄

mynameiscalypso · 04/04/2020 19:17

Yes, our local Tesco (West London) is approx 50% normal food and 50% Easter eggs. My mum said the same about her supermarket in South London.

CodenameVillanelle · 04/04/2020 19:18

I got Easter eggs from Tesco and there was loads in Sainsburys.

Feodora · 04/04/2020 19:22

I am getting an Ocado shop on Monday, perhaps it will not turn up on the day, but I was able to order chocolate.

RoLaren · 04/04/2020 19:22

Ocado are cutting back on non essential items such as bottled water to free up space for essentials. Perhaps they've put chocolate into that category?

SleepingIsOverrated · 04/04/2020 19:23

My local Tesco have absolutely no Cadbury's. No own brand milk either!

Pascha · 04/04/2020 19:25

I don't know about normal choc but all the easter chocolate stock was procured ages ago by the supermarkets. It should be business as usual for Easter stock.

MyFartWillGoOn · 04/04/2020 19:27

I was caught out by not being able to edit my Ocado order too.

I had a delivery come Thursday and was told I had til 5.25pm Wednesday to edit.

I added some things Tuesday and went back in to finish Wednesday to be locked completely out.

Apparently now you have to shop and check out in one go and once you've edited it once, that's it, it's locked.

Annoying as like you, I'd got all the essentials but went back to add chocolate!!

Sainsbo have loads of Easter eggs online?

Groovee · 04/04/2020 19:33

I wanted to make malteaser traybake. It's been hell getting malteasers.

Haffiana · 04/04/2020 19:39

malteaser traybake

Recipe please? Smile

Chocolate is most definitely an essential. Especially for those of us who are pregnant and can't resort to alcohol during these difficult times.
I couldn't get any from ocado either (I realise we were lucky to get a delivery slot in the first place). Had to resort to a trip to the corner shop for a load of chocolate. The problem is not eating it all in one go (I usually only buy what I am going to eat that day because I have no self control Blush)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/04/2020 19:42

I braved the Tesco Metro for soya milk (Yes "Essential" if I don't have coffee I'll have a raging headache and now is not the time to give up caffeine)

They had a shelf full of Smarties Eggs and their Seasonal Aisle was well stocked .

I might've bought chocolate for my DC ..............

TradeMission · 04/04/2020 19:56

I’m experiencing this (North West).
I can’t find Maltesers, Minstrels or chocolate peanuts at all. I’m shopping for my 84yo mum and she wants a Bounty - can’t get one of those either.
Who is eating all the chocolate?

bruffin · 04/04/2020 19:58

They keep forcing lindt Easter bunnies on me as I checkout

CottonSock · 04/04/2020 19:59

I had a tesco delivery tonight. The driver did a run through of a list of everything unavailable, mostly Easter stuff. I'd ordered extra in case. My dd age 6 was very upset.

Inferiorbeing · 04/04/2020 20:03

Ocado aren't letting people add things after 48 hours before.. anything you looked at would have said out of stock!

Inferiorbeing · 04/04/2020 20:04

Omg sorry I isit read you OP properly

Inferiorbeing · 04/04/2020 20:04

*just

Sorry!

ShadowLightning · 04/04/2020 20:05

Absolutely no problem around here. Both the big Morrison’s supermarket and little Tesco have full supplies of all chocolate and Easter eggs.

It’s actually a bit surreal walking through a full stocked seasonal aisle then moving the next one with toilet & kitchen roll that’s completely decimated.

Ghostlyglow · 04/04/2020 20:19

Easter eggs everywhere here.

TheStarryNight · 04/04/2020 20:21

Couldn’t get any except Easter eggs last week. Plenty now though.

Apparently in Italy chocolate and wine sales have gone way up.

olivehater · 04/04/2020 20:24

Couldn’t get any Easter eggs or Tony’s chocaloney but managed to get Ritter sport, Godiva and a few other posh choc bars.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/04/2020 20:24

How are any of you getting supermarket deliveries?
