Ocado out of chocolate

Posting here for traffic.

My Ocado order is finally due tomorrow night after weeks of waiting.

I thought I’d add a few things to it (chocolate - I’m hormonal) but noticed that a) I can’t. All orders are locked down and more importantly b) ALL the chocolate is out of stock!

Is chocolate the new toilet roll?

Honestly, it was a choice between some unheard of champaign truffles and doggy choc drops! That’s it! All the Cadbury’s was unavailable.

I suppise what Im asking is, shouldnt there be an abundance of chocolate bars, eggs etc. in the run up to Easter?

Before anyone says it, Yes, this is all I have to think about and yes, I know Coronavirus etc. and I’m lucky to be breathing.

Has anyone else noticed a run on chocolate?

All the corner shops near me & Tesco have plenty. Not that I've started giving in again to the £1 Galaxy bars by the till.... Much.

@DobbyTheHouseElk I booked it two weeks ago and I’m a smart pass holder and have been a customer since 2012. I had a text on Thursday telling me that the cutoff for changing/adding to my order was tonight at 11pm. They must have changed it. Live chat is disabled and e-mails bounce back/wont send.

I went to Sainsburys and they had some chocolate but were very low on Cadburys. Not many eggs at all, in fact, I took the last Cadbury’s creme egg easter egg.

I wonder if its a distribution problem? I’m in Staffordshire.

Christ, imagine if chocolate supply dries up completely!

From what friends and family have said, I think everyone is getting pissed and eating chocolate while they're stuck at home.

No problem getting cadburys here... the supermarkets are filled with cadburys eggs.
But I don't eat it because of the palm oil.

I think you're lucky to get deliveries at all. I have MS and asthma and my partner has congenital heart disease. We would both be at serious risk if we got Covid-19 but neither of us is on the shielded list, which is very narrow and specific. Sainsbury's will only deliver to people on the shielded list and every other outlet seems to have all slots booked up.

I’m an anytime start pass customer with Ocado. Pay £6.99 a month. I haven’t been able to get a slot for 10 days though and off the latest email will get one every 10 days now .

Pretty astounding that you've had an online delivery yet you're capable of going to Sainsbury's just for chocolate.

I got subbed from Ocado today a big bar of Galaxy chocolate for some Riesen dark chocolate chewy toffee. I accepted it but not quite the same

And yes I appreciate how lucky I am to have a delivery. Galaxy was my treat for getting through the week

Not been the shops since before this started so cant comment on current situation, but when we knew that BoJo was making the lockdown announcement that monday I went to tesco on the way home and bought about 2kg of various chocolate products. Amazingly still some left!

What's so special about Ocado?

There's not the slightest sign of any chocolate shortage in any shops I've been in from local small Scotmid , Sainsbury's and Tesco to full branches of Waitrose and M & S.

I think the thing with Ocado is it’s all warehouse based and not reliant on what people pick from the store itself

This means it usually, up till now, has a very good idea what’s in stock when you order

They were out last week as well - my order supplemented my Cadburys with some horrible marzipan stuff. Still waiting to access another slot.

Ocado emailed today stating that editing is now 48 hours in advance and delivery slot offers are once every 10 days. They added that this might change.

I tried to add a couple of Easter eggs to my Ocado delivery today - there was bugger all apart from a couple of Prestat champagne things and strawberry lindor. Amazon is similar too, I don't get it

I tried to add some Easter stuff for my Monday order and I'd say 90% was out of stock.

Out Tesco is very low on chocolate and hasn't had Curly Wurlys for weeks! They do have posh chocolate and Easter eggs so having to make do.

I don’t have a smart pass that might be the problem. I’ve been a customer of ocado since 2014 ish. Sainsburys I’ve been a online customer since 2002 but they won’t deliver to me.

Mars had a problem with machinery at their factory at the beginning of march which has resulted in a shortage of stock of alot of lines along with all the extra CV buying it's probably why alot of places don't have those
