To ask if you have any positive things in this lock down situation?

Just thought that it might be nice to think about any positives.
Such as, I don't have to worry about any one dropping round unexpectedly and the house being a mess.

No school uniforms to iron.

Having some uninterrupted family time together.

I’ve just been thinking the same thing actually, as I’m sitting here still in my pj’s, no one can arrive unannounced and catch me

Got loads of little jobs done that have been meaning to to but never have time, nice also knowing where my DS (14) is all the time!

I’ve been furloughed on 100%, dd working from home, ds home from uni. Currently we’re all safe and well (touch wood). We’re really enjoying cooking nice dinner, talking to each other, playing stupid games, watching movies. It’s been lovely. Ds teaching me piano and guitar.

Loads more family time, cuddles with the dog, baking more, cooking more complicated weekday dinners, getting to wear comfortable trousers every day. Not having to face the commute home at the end of the working day. The house feels more like a haven than ever.

I finally got around to sorting out a load of the kids old toys. Just can't take them to the tip.

Not much laundry to do.
Nice long lie ins.
DH working from home, it's just nice to see him during the day.
House is cleaner.
Getting little jobs done that I would normally put off.
Realising that I love my little job (even though I gripe about it) and miss it and my colleagues. I can't wait for it to re open.

I'm enjoying cooking proper meals from scratch. And also saving some money as no childcare to pay for.

I haven't worn a bra some days. Just been Charlie Dimmocking all over the house.

People valuing the nhs and healthcare professionals more

Dh isnt commuting to London every day so gets to see ds in the morning and we have a cup of tea together. Ds is really enjoying having us both around and were going on more family walks. I've been making more effort with activities for ds as we can't go to the farm etc.

My DS's speech has come on in leaps and bounds, it's lovely spending more time with him. Little things around the house are being done and the washing basket is finally empty!

I am not spending every weekend hosting sleepovers for DD and her friends or ferrying her to millions of activities. So I get to drink coffee on Saturday mornings and watch films instead. She has complained about this a lot less than I anticipated!

Local shop delivered loads of chocolate and I am grateful.

DH is at home (albeit with pay cut) so I am not worrying about him driving lots when he is tired.

I get to wear comfies all day and no bra

I'm bloody exhausted with working ft and 3 kids. BUT have noticed the kids are happier, they are all relaxed, less moaning and arguing. I think we rush around too much in normal life and most weekends are a blur of housework, laundry, clubs, swimming and seeing family and friends, so the down time is good.

Spending a lot more time with DH and DS.

Not paying for childcare (hence saving thousands. literally)

Cleaner air (reduced polution).

No commuting.

More free time in general.

Lots of positives to me x

My 14 year old son, who has ADHD and slow processing, has raised his grades to over 90% for the first time in his life.

I think it's a mixture of online learning suiting him better, and having more spare time to get all his homework done and still relax.

Easy to plan meals because I know where everyone is!

Eating together as a family

3 year old's attention span really developing as I'm playing lots of games with him. Ditto catching balls. In fact all the children will be throwing and catching proficiently before we are through.

We are making a huge effort with the tech and have had nice 'dinner dates' with family who live miles away (I'm keeping this one after lockdown)

We've also figured out how to get our eldest playing board games with family members unsupervised by us.

There are also the aspects of outside life I don't enjoy - I used to have a really annoying nursery run through busy residential streets- don't miss that at all.

Obviously that's all in counterpoint to a bunch of stress and downsides but that's not in the spirit of the thread.

Loving online fitness and yoga
Semi enjoying home schooling
Loving home time
Loving embracing when we are out
Loving spring cleaning and doing any and all jobs that need to be done

Missing friends
But zoom is fun so ok in short to medium term

But I’ve always been someone to see the silver lining of any situations so I’m not surprised I’m enjoying

I’ve realised I need to leave my abusive husband.

Being in lockdown has made me realise there’s hardly anything I miss as I’ve been living half a life. I haven’t stepped out of the house in 3 weeks and have no desire to.

I’m going to make some calls on Monday.

This is not a personal advantage but I do think when all this is over ther will be some positive changes that we have seen to work, eg many bosses will see that many things can be done out of ffoce and many many workers are trustworthy enough to do them. The fashion of the last 20 years for travel travel travel might deserve a bit of thoughtful thinking. Many of us will stop with the constant bitching and be a bit more valuing our our friends and family. Politicians ( this is a reach) may even be appreciated for the work they are doing to battle this situation. We might use our cars less. We might stop taking the gift of life for granted ( I am thinking baby showers) and perhaps oh perhaps be a little less materialistic. I would love to see a return to small intimate romantic non showy weddings. In short if we could capture some of the good behaviours and keep them going ....?

I'm finally "training" my hair so I no longer need to wash it every day.

The traffic is quieter, I can get home much quicker
