To be absolutely ecstatic that GTA6 should be coming out soon

And think if people can’t stop underage children from playing it, doesn’t mean it should be outright banned as it’s actually a really good game for those mature enough? Anyone else a fan? There’s just something oddly satisfying about shooting some random square in the face and then stealing a car and making a getaway without any consequences Grin

I love it! I don’t play but love watching dh play (sad aren’t I)

reginaphalangeeee · 03/04/2020 22:21

I love GTA. 4 is by far my favourite. Competed that several times over.

Just waiting for the comments about how terrible it is and it’s not allowed in the house etc 🤣

reginaphalangeeee · 03/04/2020 22:21

*completed

oobedobe · 03/04/2020 22:25

sorry to burst your bubble but I know people who work at Rockstar and it is not due out for quite a while yet...

GooodMythicalMorning · 03/04/2020 22:26

Im more looking forward to the ff7 remake coming out next week

Sherlockia · 03/04/2020 22:28

More of a red dead fan but I did enjoy gta5. A lot that complain are not aware how much of GTA is satire, (and people need to stop buying it for kids!).

Mysterian · 03/04/2020 22:32

GTA5 was technically great, but one of the characters was an unpleasant cunt. I just couldn't stand 'being in his company'. Anti-heroes need at least one thing likeable about them.

Can you please expand more and with a date if possible as I was led to believe it has almost been completed and will be released later this year?

I freaking love GTA 😎🤣

Sorry I'm not going to say anything else, but you can read this for more info

GallusAlice79 · 03/04/2020 22:44

San Andreas was my favourite GTA, but I'm more into RDR2. Recently restarted that for the 3rd time.

mumtumdocare · 03/04/2020 22:45

San Andreas was 100% the best one.

ThePants999 · 03/04/2020 22:47

There's nothing but speculation, and certainly very little to suggest it's coming any time soon.

RonnieBarkingMad · 03/04/2020 23:02

Well that’s me gutted. Ahh well, will just be a longer waif. I’ve never played Red Dead. I would absolutely welcome a Bully 2 though!

OP posts:
PennyNotSoWise · 03/04/2020 23:03

I absolutely can't wait, love it.

Most speculation I've read (obviously it's only speculation) is suggesting it may not be out until 2021 though, if not later, so I'm trying not to get too excited.

Rockstar officially announced GTA V in 2011, it took 2 years after that for the game to release. We haven't had anything yet, so it could still be years away. I'm really hoping it doesn't go that way this time.

I've been reading a lot about it recently, did you see all the buzz about the Scottish 'leaker' on the GTA forums? Got people hyped about an announcement in March, which obviously led to nothing, but it was exciting nonetheless.

It's got to be the most anticipated game in the world right now, surely?

BadLad · 03/04/2020 23:27

GTAV is still flying off shelves. According to this, it was the top-selling game in the UK in February.

www.resetera.com/threads/february-2020-uk-digital-retail-video-game-sales-report.174885/

Of course, that's now at a much cheaper price than before.

Still, I can't see Rockstar releasing 6 yet, while 5 is still selling so well. I think it's much more likely than we get a reremaster for the next gen of consoles.

GallusAlice79 · 04/04/2020 11:07

GTAV is the top grossing "entertainment product" of all time, by a considerable length. That includes films and music albums.

clareOclareO · 04/04/2020 11:18

I can't see it being released for another couple of years at least. Rockstar are still making a killing from people buying in-game money with real money and they are still making enhancements for GTA Online as much as they are for the much newer Red Dead Online.

Also when GTA VI is released, presumably there will be a new GTA Online world. Rockstar will have to manage this very carefully. Allow people to port their characters, vehicles and weapons over from the existing online offering, it immediately limits the market for real money purchases in the new one.

If they don't allow people to carry items across, many people will resent "having" to pay again - indeed the new version would probably be missing features that have evolved in the existing one over the best part of a decade.

That said, people seem to be willing to buy FIFA or PES every year, and pay real money to buy the best players year after year.

Biker47 · 04/04/2020 11:33

Yeah, GTA6 isn't anywhere near being out. Hope the rumours of them working on a sequel to Bully are true though.

YES! The trailer for it is just and I'm so excited to introduce my older DC to playing it.

WeirdAndPissedOff · 04/04/2020 13:24

Red Dead Redemption was amazing! Only downside is I still haven't finished the main story because I keep stopping to admire the scenery, or watch the wildlife interact with each other. (Seeing stags fighting, predators hunt and kill prey and even birds swoop down and grab fish or small mammals still leaves me grinning- perhaps I'm just easily impressed!)

Tbh, a lot of people put Rockstar down and judge it based on micro transactions and GTA's violence, but no-one can accuse them of a lack of effort in their games! Even a "simplistic" game like GTA has a wide variety of mission types, their characterisation is in-depth and you really feel the characters (whether likeable or hateable), and their engine and graphics are breathtaking!
Someone uploaded a time-lapsed video of a town in RDR2 to YouTube - you can see the weather changing realistically, clouds building and passing, and even the smoke coming from the chimneys changes direction with the wind.

I might have to get GTA6 when it comes out. I've already pre-ordered FF7, and now I'm just gutted that I still have to work at home while the rest of the household is on furlough! Sad

Though of course flippancy aside I'm counting my blessings as I know many others are struggling right now.

RonnieBarkingMad · 04/04/2020 14:07

I HATE online gaming because of this. And I also thinks it has made game releases lazy and needing several patches even immediately after release, which shouldn’t be on, especially after people have paid not only for the base game but online transactions too. I don’t mind improvements or add-ons being introduced but I don’t think a game should be released and then updated several times because it wasn’t ready in the first place. This seems to have also spilled into other media - I think the film Cats was edited a couple of times after its initial cinema release a couple of times and then re-released after the edits were made and eventually they withdrew it from Oscar nominations because the film “wasn’t finished” Hmm

It's a deliberate choice from software developers to release products using an agile method e.g. iteratively. So most, if not all, games will need patches. Otherwise there would be decades between games.

I’m not familiar with this.. do you have more information to share (if you have the time)? I don’t understand why things are suddenly (in the last 5 years or so) are being released and patched up after release when this wasn’t the case before. Is it because the games now are too huge? And if so, why not the decision to push back the release date and release it perfectly rather than release and patch? Why is it a deliberate choice?

I had it on the PS3 but moved onto the PS4 and never finished it. Might buy it again because it's quite cheap now.
