I've wondered this for a while but am too shy to ask my friends IRL in case they get the wrong idea.

Dealers are still dealing, we have had some reports of people trying to make their own drugs.....doesn't always end up going well (we just had a small block of flats burnt down due to one of our tenants "cooking"). I have lots of video evidence of people coming & going but no proof its drugs.....we know its drugs.

Police are under the hammer, always have been but this virus has made it worse. They have neither the time nor resources to go after every bike riding dealer and that was before this pandemic!! But on estates where we have a big problem I have to say the police have been trying to tackle it but drug dealers are fucking smart!

"These guys will survive an actual apocalypse"

Yep, like all cockroaches

EmeraldShamrock · 03/04/2020 22:36

It has been reported the gardai have intercepted some drug runs this week.

BeetrootRocks · 03/04/2020 22:37

Wishing death on people is not a good look.

whattodo2019 · 03/04/2020 22:42

Child drug mules!

Honeyned · 03/04/2020 22:46

I thought the same!! I haven't been out for five weeks but I never saw any deals in our very rural town anyway. I was wondering about heroin addicts etc, wont they get really ill from.withdrawals? I think the same with benzodiazepines. Also (not stereotyping) but homeless people often beg to get money for their drugs, just so they don't sick, not even to get high and I read a book which was written by a drug addict in these circumstances and he said his worst times were bank holidays and Christmas as people weren't out and about

Honeyned · 03/04/2020 22:48

@FromEden are you in the USA?

Wehttam · 03/04/2020 22:54

Once the addicts and homeless start getting cranky then the real fun starts. Crime will sky rocket because of this. Pandora’s box is slowly being opened and there is nothing good inside of it. The dealers are spooked right now because they don’t want to risk driving large quantities around areas incase they get stopped by police.

Hopefully many of the casual coke heads and recreational users will clean themselves up whilst this is all going on. Imagine all the door staff who get backhands for letting in certain dealers having to cope on SSP or furlough lols 😂

The Guardian reported on people in Australia who have been fined for being outside without a good reason this week, one man gave the excuse that he was on his way to visit his drug dealer.

Shouldershrugger · 03/04/2020 22:58

Exchange under the doormat. Knock on the door. Then social distance 😂

Elieza · 03/04/2020 23:04

I wonder what the addicts will do when they can’t get any more drugs as no more can get into the country.
I imagine they will initially break into ‘friends’ houses to try and steal theirs.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 03/04/2020 23:07

Better than making a living from it, Beetroot.

BeetrootRocks · 03/04/2020 23:14

Massive amounts of people use drugs in the UK.

Your post seemed to imply that is was drug users you wanted to die. Did I get it wrong? Plenty of dealers don't use.

Yep.

Santaclauswhosthat · 03/04/2020 23:38

@Wehttam it sure does drive people to out there behaviour. When the heroin addict in the nearby block died of an overdose, the guys he was with that night cleaned the flat out of cash and everything portable they could sell. One of them turned up a couple of days later, ostensibly concerned that he hadn't been able to contact him. Pretty sure he was just checking that the guy was actually dead and so less chance of being prosecuted. Made my blood run cold really.

MsAwesomeDragon · 03/04/2020 23:40

My neighbour is a drug dealer (he's known to the police, there's no need for me to report him, I expect he'll be back in prison soon). He's got just as much business as normal. I think it might be more than normal but it might just be that I'm at home to see all the people visiting. He has been attempting to do contact free deals though, hiding his stuff in bushes in his front garden that his "customers" come and collect. I assume they need to pay before he'll put the package out for collection.

Santaclauswhosthat · 03/04/2020 23:42

@Arrowfanatic the police have got plenty of time to make videos of people taking their dogs for walks in fields though.

blubellsarebells · 03/04/2020 23:45

The drug addict i know is still getting deliveries to the house.
Weed smoking neighbour goes for a walk everyday but ive not actually seen him smoke or noticed the smell.
Maybe if he cant smoke he will cut his lawn for the first time ever so his kids can play out there.
No addict just starting on methadone will be getting a weeks supply, you have to prove you are clean of heroin and go to the chemist everyday, until you are 'clean'.
Then you might get a week supply.
There was a story on the news today about the homeless being housed in liverpool and a young woman on there was saying since she moved into the flat, studio apartment it was, she had not used for 8 days.
After being in close contact with an addict for many years I did find that quite hard to believe, maybe she is getting methodone and good luck to her, just hope they dont throw all the homeless back on the street when this ends.

DeeCeeCherry · 03/04/2020 23:56

They go for a walk or bus ride

thequeenbeyondthewall · 04/04/2020 00:12

Not smelt weed for nearly two weeks now an it's usually something f we can smell in our street on and off a few times a day.

They are social distancing here I think.

DarnedSocks · 04/04/2020 00:18

Being housed is a great incentive to stop using I should imagine. I know I'd likely be tempted to use drugs if I was homeless. I'd want to block it all out. Not that all homeless people are addicts. Nor are all addicts homeless. Why they're so frequently lumped into one group by so many people I don't know.

Yes I hope they don't throw them back on the streets too. I wouldn't be surprised sadly. They aren't being housed out of concern for their welfare. It's about public protection as homeless people risked spreading it. Let's hope the funding continues once all this is over.

blubellsarebells · 04/04/2020 00:29

Im sure being housed is a great incentive.
I really hope this crisis can be a good thing for some people in the long term.
My point really was that I find it hard to trust anything an addict says.
My brother is a heroin addict.
Hes not homeless.
