Posting for traffic as I have a weird sense of curiosity. Has anyone wondered what is happening to people who have made the above, er, career choice? Does this mean the market will dry up?

I live in Leeds and I didn’t realise the Holbeck experiment was still going ( apart from right now).

I've got a million new messages this week (well, a few dozen) from old flames and online chat friends from five years ago when I was single, seeking to "play" via text or cam. No money just really horny frustrated men. Many married with kids. Most with partners now I'm not interested as am happily coupled up but made me raise an eyebrow. I wonder how many of those cycle rides and jogs end up at an escorts or other woman's house.

one of my relatives (we haven’t seen each other or spoken in years but still friends on social media) works in a strip club and is also a ‘high end escort’ and in response to the lockdown she made an onlyfans, which i think is a subscription service where she posts videos and pictures and people pay to see them. she was constantly advertising this on her instagram (until i removed her when she posted an explicit video of herself for everyone to see). she was very vocal though about how much money she’s losing out on.

Street prostitutes don't generally have custody of their children. Not because they're bad people but because the reasons why they are street prostitutes generally means social services remove the kids.

I feel desperately sorry for anyone vulnerable and that includes sex workers who are at such risk of abuse, violence and often forcible addiction to drugs. They are financially marginalised as well as socially vulnerable and we as a country need to do more to protect those among us who are least able to fend for themselves and their children.

Actually, I do, fedup - for some unknown reason, you have interpreted it as an attack. Overwhelming, women turn to prostitution to feed a drug habit. The fact they were working when a serial killer was on the loose (Ipswich) indicates how desperate they were.

Statistically, very few are not. It’s so incredibly dangerous that it’s not something people do as a means to financial freedom: there are other options in the sex industry if you’re ‘clean’ which are safer such as massage parlours, escort agencies etc. One of the girls murdered by Steve wright worked in a parlour until they realised she was a user, hence she went out on the streets

@freshchampagne I know several sex workers and none of them are drug addicts. One does rake in a measly 500k a year, though.

It's good the women get a break from servicing 'punters' - they can practice some self-love and care for once.

I think there will still be customers as men who are prepared to buy consent aren't exactly the best men in the world.

I was worrying about this the other day. Not just prostitutes but thinking about all the people who are under the radar. What about trafficked women if there are no clients and the are not here legally what gets done with them, they are no longer of value.

I assumed @freshchampagne was referring solely to street prostitutes, who'd I guess were far more likely to be drug addicts than any other areas of sex work. They certainly aren't the ones drawing in 500k a year.

Why even now this constant push not to worry about/ care about women is prostitution who despite the claims on here have a much higher than usual chance of being in a horrible situation
