Socially distanced walk?

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:41

My friend doesn't live with her bf but is meeting up with him to go on walks where they stay 6M apart.

Is that acceptable?

OP posts:
AliceAbsolum · 02/04/2020 22:42

Not unless it's 8M no.

WorraLiberty · 02/04/2020 22:42

Yes

TheoriginalLEM · 02/04/2020 22:42

6m ? What do they do? Shout??

PapayaCoconut · 02/04/2020 22:43

6m? The mandated distance is 2m.

It's a slippery slope when people start bending the rules. You're not supposed to meet up with anyone outside your household.

WorraLiberty · 02/04/2020 22:44

I would have thought at 19 feet apart, they'd use megaphones Grin

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:44

Sorry typo error there I meant 6 feet!

I thought you could meet up with one person outside your household?

hatebeingcold · 02/04/2020 22:45

Yes it is, outside and 2-3 meters apart. I'm finding it very hard being apart from my partner but unfortunately we live far apart.

JosephineKarlsson · 02/04/2020 22:46

Are you hoping to dob her in it, OP?

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:47

No not at all I was thinking of doing similar but didn't know whether it was actually allowed or not.

OP posts:
BusterTheBulldog · 02/04/2020 22:47

No, but mainly as it’s so annoying for anyone else they may encounter. Had this earlier 2 people either side of a two metre track- where do the rest of us go to move out their way? Super annoying.

Hannah021 · 02/04/2020 22:48

even if you believe they're keeping the 6ft distance, it's taking the p*ss ... if everyone starts doing that we'll have nowhere to walk cuz the whole world is out dating on the streets

FadedRed · 02/04/2020 22:48

With friends like you etc etc etc

SoftSheen · 02/04/2020 22:49

Since groups of more than two are banned the implication is that meeting with one other person must be legal, providing that you stay 2 metres apart the whole time.

It may not be socially 'acceptable' at present, but their actions are understandable, given that we may have to maintain social distancing rules for 6 months.

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:49

@FadedRed what is that supposed to mean?

OP posts:
MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 02/04/2020 22:50

No, you're just making shit up now.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/04/2020 22:51

No, but mainly as it’s so annoying for anyone else they may encounter. Had this earlier 2 people either side of a two metre track- where do the rest of us go to move out their way?

You'd think people would have the nous to arrange themselves in single file with the appropriate distance if approaching others. It's not exactly difficult.

Branleuse · 02/04/2020 22:51

If they cant live together yet then its understandable theyd want to do this.
Its against the guidelines, but i would keep my beak out

LuluJakey1 · 02/04/2020 22:51

I thought you couldn't mix with anyone outside your household?

itsbetterthanabox · 02/04/2020 22:51

The group of 2 still has to be you and someone from your household.
It's not meeting up with someone else that lives elsewhere.

JosephineKarlsson · 02/04/2020 22:52

No, you're just making shit up now

Lockdown is must be getting to me Grin

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:52

'keep your beak out' 'with friends like you' 'dob her in it'

Completely off the mark! I've asked this because I thought it seemed like quite a good idea and thought maybe I could do similar as I don't live with my boyfriend. I came on here to ask if it is actually allowed or not...

OP posts:
MaryHerbert · 02/04/2020 22:55

"Exercise alone or with members of your household. If your friends ask you to meet up, say no." Clear enough, I'd have thought.

Roweeeeena · 02/04/2020 22:55

I mean it was literally said on the broadcast when we went into lockdown. "Do not meet up with friends. If they ask you, say no."
So no. Meeting for walks is not acceptable. How are people still having to ask this? We are going to be in lockdown forever because of idiots wilfully misunderstanding the rules.

sweetnsuga123 · 02/04/2020 22:56

How are we going to be on lockdown forever if people ask on a forum to clarify before they do anything... @Roweeeeena
