To think the talk of so many NHS clappers is mostly down and out lies?

I missed it last time but gave it the benefit of the doubt. Until Tonight. I listened closely outside at 8 and did not hear a single clap in my area. Also, on Channel 4 news it was showing people clapping and it was literally only a few people clapping, very unenthusiastically and slowly and even sarcastically, I hasten to add. I’m not saying it’s not a “thing” but to claim it’s all “up and down the country” no it’s not, loads of people don’t give a damn. I wonder at all the stories shared by MNers about entire streets coming out to clap and wonder where they live where this happens as everyone that replies seem to agree

Bagpipes here

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 02/04/2020 22:03

Plenty of clapping and bagpipes here. Horns honking away. Cheers and whistles.

sassafras123 · 02/04/2020 22:03

We've been doing it for two weeks now and the ships in the bay join in too blowing their sirens.

ChickLitLover · 02/04/2020 22:06

Where do you live OP.... any houses for sale?🤣

Same Tory wankers out clapping here as last week. 🙄

My friend who is a nurse just called to say the family who live opposite her who have continued to party with friends throughout the social distancing rules were out clapping. With their friends. From different households. She told them that she’d appreciate them following the rules rather than clapping her and that she’d rather not be woke up by hypocrites when she’s trying to get some well deserved rest after a very long few days. It was lost on them though. Dickheads.

Geepipe · 02/04/2020 22:07

I live in the north west and my street was very loud with claps and cheers.

ChickLitLover · 02/04/2020 22:07

Bagpipes here

I think that would have tipped my nurse friend over the edge tonight. 🤣

lotusbell · 02/04/2020 22:08

Quite a few out on my road to tonight, not me, but quite a few neighbours

mumto2teenagers · 02/04/2020 22:09

We didn’t do it last week but this evening we went out and were surprised because nearly all of our neighbours were out clapping.

Mum2threepinkies · 02/04/2020 22:09

Nearly everyone on our road clapped tonight, either stood in the street or out of their windows, the street to the side of us did to, and last week. Bit everyone can or wants to but I'm sure they all appreciate the NHS x

Likethebattle · 02/04/2020 22:09

Loads here and many pipers playing ‘Scotland the Brave’ as well.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 02/04/2020 22:09

Horns bibbing, clapping and a few fireworks here.

TheFutureMrsB · 02/04/2020 22:12

Fireworks, clapping, horns beeping and saucepans being banged in South Wales.

goingtotown · 02/04/2020 22:12

South East here Lots of clapping & saucepan lids banging. Very emotional.

Nothappy599 · 02/04/2020 22:13

80% of my street clapped.
We live in an area that hasn't been hit yet.
Being out, clapping gives a sense of community.
It does no harm, makes us feel like we live with people that will help...
There is no drawbacks.

more folk here than last week and fireworks too I'm in Scotland

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 02/04/2020 22:14

Loud here tonight (tiny small town in the middle of nowhere). I was a bit worried I'd burst into tears, but it was actually lovely. Scared the birds! And a firework, too.

WhataMissMap · 02/04/2020 22:16

More out in my area this week than last week.
Much banging of pots and pans too!

1forsorrow · 02/04/2020 22:17

None on my road, none on DDs road, none of DSs road. Both keyworkers but don't like it.

Flymetothetoon · 02/04/2020 22:18

Nothing on my road apart from the kid next door clanging a couple of pans together

WhatShe5aid · 02/04/2020 22:19

We had some on our street but not as many as last week.

Unfortunately our elderly neighbours came out and made a beeline straight for us standing about a metre away wanting a chat as they'd not seen anyone for 2 weeks. Then they went over to the next neighbours and the next neighbours....

Think if it goes on next week I will do it from my bedroom window.

Cissyandflora · 02/04/2020 22:20

It was very loud here. My poor cat was terrified.

ChipotleBlessing · 02/04/2020 22:20

Most of my street were out clapping, as were the surrounding streets from the noise.

Dartsplayer · 02/04/2020 22:22

Loads more out on our long street tonight than there were last week. It was very emotional. We're in the south-east

wolfmom · 02/04/2020 22:23

My street decided to have music so loud I thought I was next to a speaker in a club. By all means clap, the workers deserve recognition, but, this was too much
