To ask if you have booked a summer holiday in this county, are you expecting to go?

Just what really. We have a week booked at a caravan park for the last week in July. We are obviously in lockdown for Easter which has been a difficult thing for my dds to accept, but they are very understanding as to why. My eldest keeps saying 'at least we have our summer holiday to look forward to.' I keep making noncommittal 'mmm' noises. I'm wondering if I should prepare her for the fact that we might not get to go? If you have booked a similar holiday for this summer, are you hopeful it will go ahead?

Haven’t booked. Luckily I had 2 holidays late last year as missed summer due to DD’s broken arm. Also went to Iceland end of Jan. Doubt we will go this year. Have to play it by ear

couchlover · 02/04/2020 20:26

We are booked in august and yes I very much expect to be able to go. I hope so anyway.

PapsofJura · 02/04/2020 20:27

We have a week booked for the start of July and I’m trying to be optimistic.

TimeAintNothing · 02/04/2020 20:31

We're booked to go abroad at the beginning of October too and I'm hoping that goes ahead but at the same time, if CV19 is going to ebb and flow until either a vaccine or a treatment is found, I'm not sure I'd want to be in another country during a potential outbreak.

bizmum1 · 02/04/2020 20:35

Week booked mid July - I reckon we'll be going

Worriedmum54321 · 02/04/2020 20:39

I think July will be fine to travel within UK. Restrictions will probably last 6 weeks so until mid May. Then they will gradually relax them over a month but it will obviously take holiday companies a while to gear up again. But I think self catering holidays should be ok from July.
There is no way we will be in lockdown longer than 2 months.

JohnCo · 02/04/2020 20:40

I was really organised this year and had loads of holidays in our caravan booked. I've now changed all of them up to the end of May to similar dates next year. I'm not optimistic about June but really hope that by July things are getting back to normal.

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/04/2020 20:43

I’m clinging on to the hope we’ll be going to Cornwall in July! I can’t see how we can still be in lockdown by then - the country would be on its knees.

I may read this back and laugh ironically in a few months though...

BluebellCockleshell123 · 02/04/2020 20:46

Fully expect to cancel our May half term holiday (waiting to see if flights are cancelled) but hoping to still go on our week in Wales in July and crossing everything that my girls weekend away in Aug will still be able to go ahead!

CherryPavlova · 02/04/2020 20:47

When we realised we couldn’t go to France in June, we booked a place in the Lakes. I don’t think we’ll be able to go given current trajectory.

isseywith4vampirecats · 02/04/2020 20:49

we were going round Scotland on our motorbike end of June but not booked any acomodation thank goodness, not holding out much hope for this happening but will do it next year, booked for naples October already paid 2/3 of this one if it gets cancelled we will redate that one for next year too

Bloodybridget · 02/04/2020 20:51

We had several holidays, mostly short UK trips, booked from Easter to July this year, I'm quite sure we won't be able to do any of them. I missed nearly all my holidays last year when I had cancer. Someone's out to get me Grin!

neversleepagain · 02/04/2020 20:59

We've booked to go to Cornwall at the end of August. I have resigned to the fact that we probably won't be going which is sad. DC have been to Cornwall every summer since they were two.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 02/04/2020 21:00

I think some restrictions might be lifted gradually but all holidays are non-essential travel and so people really should not expect to go on them before this virus is properly contained and not just lurking waiting to re-emerge.

SirGawain · 02/04/2020 21:00

Yes we have booked a holiday for later this year, but I doubt it will happen.

Itallgoingpetetong · 02/04/2020 21:02

No. I think it’s unlikely anyone will get a summer holiday.

rookiemere · 02/04/2020 21:04

We've literally just booked a week in July for a shared property in the UK that we've been to before. The owner kindly let us book without the non refundable deposit as we're repeat customers. I really hope we can go as this replaces our Costa Rica trip ( BA cancelled the flights so managed to get a refund on the ).

I hope we'll be able to go - for the property owners sake as well as our own, but we shall see. It's so nice to have something to look forward to without any financial repercussions if it doesn't work out.

Cornishclio · 02/04/2020 21:07

We have booked a week away for the whole family at Centre Parcs in mid June. I don't think we will be going. We also have a trip of a lifetime booked for September from East coast of Canada (Toronto and Niagara) to West coast (Rocky Mountains and Vancouver). I don't think that will be going ahead either.

Wheresthebeach · 02/04/2020 21:08

Ah jeeze after GCSE’s being cancelled, and my DD likely to miss out on competing this year at Europeans in her chosen sport I really really hope we get our week in Cornwall in July...I don’t think we’ll be on lock down over summer. Oct-Feb - yep.

zelbazinnamon · 02/04/2020 21:10

We are supposed to be at a festival in August - Have no sense of whether it will be on or not...

LargeGinOnTap · 02/04/2020 21:12

Due to go to France end of August so 🤞🤞 but accept it might not happen

A few weekend breaks in June July but accept they probably won't happen

Beckyboom · 02/04/2020 21:12

We have a large group holiday booked at a huge self catering place for October half term.

The only way I can envision it going ahead at all is if it is possible by then to be tested and somehow everyone has had it. Which seems very unlikely.

If it was just our family going I would be cautiously optimistic it would go ahead.

RunningNinja79 · 02/04/2020 21:12

We are booked to Butlins in June and hopefully France for the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays. Im half and half about both of them TBH. I really couldn't say either way.

DCs are all aware that they may or may not happen. We are hoping they will, but understanding if not. We will get a new carpet instead.

Ponoka7 · 02/04/2020 21:22

Mine's booked for July 29th. Unless we discover that we've become immune, I'm not going.

As soon as the football is back on, the virus will go global again. Holiday destinations won't have hospital beds and I doubt people will still practice social distancing. It would be impossible to travel, outside of driving and it be adhered to.

JustMarriedBecca · 02/04/2020 21:26

Supposed to be in France mid August. Hopeful to still go. Envisage lockdown until mid to end June, some relaxing of rules in July and hopefully back to normal by August.
