Is anyone else finding their insomnia worse at the moment?

I'm not even sure it's down to corona anxiety, maybe a by product of being stuck in my house wfh with the kids?

I've managed 11 hours in almost 5 nights and I still cant sleep. Doesn't help that I keep getting horrific stomach ache and intermittent temperatures which means the pain stops me sleeping even if I could.

Dh is laying next to me happily sleeping away and has been since about 8pm. Hes tired from working loads. I'm also working loads, although tbf not as busy as he is, but still no sleep.

I swear I'm going to lose my mind!

Yes, me. I have had several bouts of depression and always get insomnia with them. It also sometimes appears when I've got PMT.

Not to worry you, but arent stomach aches one of the signs of coronavirus?

bringincrazyback · 01/04/2020 00:59

Feeling your pain! I suffer from delayed sleep phase syndrome and find it impossible to get to sleep any earlier than about 6 a.m. unless I take medication (which brings it to about 2 or 3 a.m.). My sleep issues are flaring up badly at the moment and I'm permanently exhausted. I've actually just stopped the medication as it's doing zilch to help me at the moment. It's going to be a long night!

Thewomeninthemirror · 01/04/2020 01:02

Can I join you?
I’m
Not sure if it anxiety or the night sweats that are keeping me up but I’m exhausted.

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 01/04/2020 01:04

Yep, me too. I went to buy some lavender essential oil (for baths) & some herbal Nytol today as it’s really getting me down, I often just lay awake listening to my audiobook for hours. It doesn’t help that DH is a horrendous snorer. I felt really frivolous & judged, buying them.

rosiejaune · 01/04/2020 01:06

I also have DSPD. Though I go to sleep by 3am, which is more manageable.

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 01/04/2020 01:09

I’d stopped taking a medication several months ago, the withdrawal caused me horrible insomnia- it was my 2nd attempt to come off it - & was just getting back on track when our LL announced they were selling our house. Homeless for several weeks, got this house just a few weeks ago (hurrah!) & now this CV nightmare. I’ve been about 8-9 months without a really good night’s sleep.

TimeAintNothing · 01/04/2020 01:10

Wide awake here too. I think it's the lack of exercise and physical activity that means I'm simply not tired, I'm usually rarely at home despite being a SAHM and carer. Coupled with anxiety simmering away at a level that is just about manageable, a bit of overthinking, and the DC not sleeping well and I'm lucky if I see sleep before 3am most nights.

JenNtonic · 01/04/2020 01:14

Hi fellow gorgeous owls 🦉!!!
I was looking at the pedometer on my phone today and it was GRIM.
Am currently up looking at skincare offers, listening to audio book and drinking chamomile.
Have ordered some Nytol (original as herbal don't touch the sides) from Superdrug but the website says it may take 12-15 days. Aghhhhh. Hope everyone's as good as they can be 🙂

Arrowfanatic · 01/04/2020 01:23

@Sandwiched18 apparently so, but I have a longstanding stomach issue so it isn't unusual to have pain just seems to be happening more at night now.

@MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour I tried the purple Nytol tablets that everyone raved to me about & found they made my restless leg syndrome way worse. After some googling turns out this is a side effect. Such a shame as I was hoping for miracles.

It's so frustrating, I feel tired. Like physically tired, my eyes are all scratchy and like they have grit in them but I just can't seem to settle to sleep. I've always battled insomnia, since I was a teen and have regular bouts of bad insomnia but these last few days have been worse than I've ever known.

I did find myself watching The Tiger King on Netflix the other night, and WTF!! Grin

struggling here, my sleep pattern starts to get bad when my mental health is suffering. i was doing so well before the virus, i had come such a long way after years of very poor physical & mental health, my life was improving but now i feel like i am back to square one again. i've not been out for a month, agoraphobia back with a vengeance, ocd, general & health anxiety are rocketing Confused

MinnieMouse731 · 01/04/2020 01:32

Struggling here too!

My mental health is slowly deteriorating currently so I'm unable to sleep; usually get to sleep around 5am - 7/8am Sad

heidbuttsupper · 01/04/2020 01:53

Hi fellow owls 🦉my insomia stems from my PTSD, it's not fun! Currently browsing Disney+

AlliKaneSon · 01/04/2020 02:10

I’m with you! I fell asleep at 5.50 last night (well, early this morning!). My daughter has Tourette’s Syndrome and her tics are through the roof, which is keeping everyone else up too (I’m used to no sleep- they’re not!). Such an unsettling time for everyone, though.

arrow, scratchy/sore eyes can also be a less common symptom of CV.

I'm not well, although I can't usually sleep anyway.

suziesnowflake · 01/04/2020 03:46

Yes. I'm falling to bits, I haven't left the house for two weeks, I haven't spoken to anybody outside the house in that time, I can't cope with grieving the loss of a parent, I can't cope with work but luckily have symptoms so can self isolate so don't have to show I'm a weak snowflake who can't cope.

flirtygirl · 01/04/2020 04:06

Yep still up. Really tired as woke at 5.30am yesterday and read till 7am then lay awake till 10 am then was semi awake for 1.5 hours. Ie Was awake but couldn't move.

I've had 2.5 hours sleep in 24 hours.

flirtygirl · 01/04/2020 04:08

Suziesnowflake

You are not a snowflake. Grief is a painful process so don't berate yourself on top of that. Insomnia is a killer.

Be kind to yourself.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 01/04/2020 04:17

I'm waking up super early (hence why I'm here now!) but as I don't have to go to work I've just been lying on the sofa all day so don't really care.

speakfriendandenter · 01/04/2020 04:28

Yes, I'm hating the lack of sleep atm! I barely slept last night, grabbed an hour earlier and now I can't sleep at all. Hope some of you have managed to drift off now.
