To Think Singing for the NHS is Cringey in the Extreme?!

Don't get me wrong. I think the NHS is amazing and I've been following all the rules during this time. I clapped last week, although I find displays like that embarrassing.

But now, they want Cornwall to stand on their doorstep and SING for the NHS!! Blush

Nope Nope Nope.

Oh Jesus. The best thing people can do is vote in the NHS' interest come election time.

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 30/03/2020 19:51

Fight for the NHS. Campaign for the nhs. Ask questions, real questions about the nhs. Find out what is really happening to the nhs. Demand ppe for workers in the nhs (the proper protective equipment they require to not be killed for doing their job). Watch films by dr bob gill if you want an introduction to whats happening.

Singing ...well it wont save our lives it will just make you feel better. You and we need to bloody shout and scream about the damage that has been done to the nhs and the lies peddled ... and still being peddled, by boris Johnson.

MadameBee · 30/03/2020 19:51

God Blush

Madein1995 · 30/03/2020 19:53

Yanbu. I'm quite sure front line NHS workers would prefer Enough PPE, decent wages, increased staffing (there's a reason the NHS was predicted not to cope and that reason is funding) and to be tested for covid 19, than they would some meaningless clap or sing. Yes the clap was nice yes I participated, no it changed fuck all

Pelleas · 30/03/2020 19:54

Whatever keeps people's spirits up is fine with me. If it's not your thing, you don't have to take part. YABU.

Smoothyloopy · 30/03/2020 19:54

Will not be happening in this cornish household!

Smellbellina · 30/03/2020 19:57

Singing is good for morale, as this clip demonstrates...

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 30/03/2020 19:58

I hate the irony of people clapping for the NHS after they voted for the Tories.

I’m also in the camp of doing something actually useful to improve the NHS for both the workers and the patients.

WankStainWasher · 30/03/2020 20:01

@Smellbellina If we could all sing that, then I would join in! Grin

It’s real selling point I think, is that it’s short.

transformandriseup · 30/03/2020 20:12

A bit cringy and I have the greatest respect for the NHS as I work for them. I don't mind if my neighbours want to sing but it's at the same time as when I'm putting my DD to bed and my opposite neighbour went a bit ott with the clapping last week.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 30/03/2020 20:21

I'm in Wales

I saw something on FB the other day about getting everyone to stand on their doorstep and ding the Welsh National Anthem

Made me want to move to Cornwall but I don't think I'll bother now if you're all at it too 😂

caz114 · 30/03/2020 20:22

God If I start singing on the doorstep the neighbours will call an ambulance, I sound that bad!

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 30/03/2020 20:23

If I were to sing it would be interpreted as an anti-NHS gesture

1Morewineplease · 30/03/2020 20:27

Have heard various NHS staff who say that they’re very thankful for all this virtue signalling but would be more grateful if folk just stayed at home and not bend the rules.

EasyTarget · 30/03/2020 20:28

Oh lord I can't stand all this crap. It's bad enough were all stuck inside can't they just leave us alone to watch Netflix. Which wallies are coming up with these cringeworth ideas?
Just leave us alone in peace to get on with it.

Port1aCastis · 30/03/2020 20:35

I'm also in Cornwall and no I will not be singing I'd sing for more funding that's about all

WankStainWasher · 30/03/2020 20:36

Also particularly cringey and unwelcome were the "look-at-me look-at-me" video selfies of people clapping last week popping up on my FB feed. (Not the vids of whole communities clapping, which were nice.)

When Italy was singing we had a debate about what the uk might sing. verdict

God save the queen
Happy birthday
Swing low
The wheels on the bus
I vow to thee my country

That is our national repertoire

maddiemookins16mum · 30/03/2020 20:43

The best thing for the NHS is staying in, not clapping, not singing, staying bloody well in.

Smellbellina · 30/03/2020 20:43

🤣

Smellbellina · 30/03/2020 20:45

I think we should all sing more regularly. Someone needs to wheel their piano out to the front door, someone get their violin, surely someone has a kid with a recorder they could put to good use?

WTF0ver · 30/03/2020 20:45

Yes my DM proudly told me that she'd "done her bit to support the NHS" by clapping in her back garden. Guess how she voted? I managed to keep my mouth shut.

WankStainWasher · 30/03/2020 20:47

@Escapeistheonlyoption How could you omit the classic:
"My Old Man's a Dustman"? Shock

OP posts:
Smellbellina · 30/03/2020 20:50

Maybe we should have 2 songs? One for Tory voters and one for everyone else? That way we can all be sure not to help the wrong feckers?
