To Think Singing for the NHS is Cringey in the Extreme?!

Don't get me wrong. I think the NHS is amazing and I've been following all the rules during this time. I clapped last week, although I find displays like that embarrassing.

But now, they want Cornwall to stand on their doorstep and SING for the NHS!! Blush

Nope Nope Nope.

Why cant we stand and shout "Where the is the PPE Johnson"

Might focus the mind if the whole country shouted it.

SudokuQueen · 30/03/2020 20:52

I didn't realise I'd moved to the USA...

Seriously they are singing now? Hmm

Can't they just donate money or ppe? Would be more useful than subjecting their neighbours to their singing.

LargeGinOnTap · 30/03/2020 20:54

Yabu I know the lady (Emma)
who is organising this and she is fab and lovely person. And this is her way of showing her appreciation to the NHS.

I actually received an email about this from her earlier( as I have taken part in other community based projects over the years) encouraging people to do this and I will be singing along on Thursday pm

wonkytonkwoman · 30/03/2020 20:55

Unless it's this one:

Escapeistheonlyoption · 30/03/2020 20:55

How could you omit the classic: "My Old Man's a Dustman"?

We did debate
Dancing queen and YMCA

wonkytonkwoman · 30/03/2020 20:55

oh shit, I didn't mean that one!!

QuizzlyBear · 30/03/2020 20:55

I think we should all sing more regularly. Someone needs to wheel their piano out to the front door, someone get their violin, surely someone has a kid with a recorder they could put to good use?

There is no good use for a recorder. 😁

Roweeeeena · 30/03/2020 20:56

Oh christ. It's just silly. Our local pages are full of posts from people wanting to clap every week and clap for delivery drivers as well as the nhs. Soon we'll be applauding so many we will have to specify who we're not clapping for.
I think the one thing people can do for the NHS is just bloody stay at home and try not to be a nuisance.

Neveranynamesleft · 30/03/2020 20:57

Easy target
Couldng agree more. Some people have far too much time on their hands obviously at the moment and coming up with these cringeworthy ideas is nauseating. Count me out.

Smellbellina · 30/03/2020 20:57

@wonkytonkwoman 🤣 that gets my vote

wonkytonkwoman · 30/03/2020 20:58

I meant this one!

ThatLibraryMiss · 30/03/2020 21:00

Escapeistheonlyoption, you've forgotten Jerusalem and the Yorkshire anthem, Ilkla Moor bah t'at.

Escapeistheonlyoption · 30/03/2020 21:26

the Yorkshire anthem, Ilkla Moor bah t'at.

being from Yorkshire i know all 99 verses however I sense that those in the south would not

Auld langs syne?

WankStainWasher · 30/03/2020 21:50

Auld langs syne? Can't. The only way to sing that properly is to cross arms and hold hands and, well, you know.

@wonkytonkwoman you had it right the first time Grin

EasyTarget · 30/03/2020 21:55

While I'm not into the singing, I would be up for the whole country joining in a few rounds of 'Where's the PPE Johnson?'.

TheCanterburyWhales · 30/03/2020 22:01

It was noted that when all the singing was going on in Italy it was NOT nationwide and it was not widespread.

It was mainly done in areas largely unaffected by the virus and there's been a bit of a backlash about it tbh. Like health workers saying "no, I haven't got time to watch you all on telly giving it some O Solo Mio on your balcony"

ViciousJackdaw · 30/03/2020 22:04

As well as not voting Tory, we can help the NHS by taking better care of ourselves (if we are able to). We can spend £3-4 at the chemist on something we might usually get from the GP (if available and can afford to). We can keep our appointments and cancel them in a timely manner. Singing and clapping feels like an insult.

WankStainWasher · 30/03/2020 22:14

Well, if Thursday is sing for the NHS, then how about

Flash yer tits for truck drivers on Friday? Hmmm?

Feck me! It’s at times like this I’m glad I don’t have any neighbours .
The single most cringeworthy thing I’ve seen since this all began was the “ Wonder woman???actress “singing Imagine from her mansion .
Not to forget Victoria Beckham chatting to NHS workers .Of course she had to video herself doing it .
If we learn anything from this entire disaster it should be that your income doesn’t dictate your worth .

grindergirl · 30/03/2020 22:18

It's showtime! But seems a bit muted. Where are the fireworks and candlelit vigils and ra-ra-ra cheerleaders? Little nowadays cannot be milked for its entertainment value. Always some narcissistic fool thinking: let's put on a show so I have a good excuse to plaster myself all over FB

Escapeistheonlyoption · 30/03/2020 22:25

Not to forget Victoria Beckham chatting to NHS workers .Of course she had to video herself doing it .

What country is she in and when did she fly there?

Figrollsaplenty · 30/03/2020 22:32

iklboo · 30/03/2020 22:33
  • God save the queen Happy birthday Swing low The wheels on the bus I vow to thee my country That is our national repertoire*

We could 'do do do' The Archers theme. Maybe with some light skipping.

iklboo · 30/03/2020 22:35

Flash yer tits for truck drivers on Friday? Hmmm?

I'm not rolling my socks down in this weather.
