To Consider Doing The Ironing - Talk Me Down.

Surely there is something more useful I could be doing? I mean, tidying the linen cupboard? Rearranging the forks? Making a Christmas card list for 2037?

There must be something more rewarding than doing the sodding ironing. Am I being anarchic here?

Life is too short for ironing Smile

JigsawsAreInPieces · 30/03/2020 13:51

I would have to find the iron first. 😳

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 13:51

Oh, I agree.

Life is too short for such a tedious activity.

You could consider starting a thread on here about how ridiculous it is that you can't go to the shops anymore or exercise as many times as you jolly well like and what on earth does the government think it is anyway?

mbosnz · 30/03/2020 13:53

Just finally got up to date with Mt Crumple of Doom. I'm an inveterate ironer. Generally I try to keep this unappealing trait hidden.

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 13:53

Tell me what you're doing to pass the time.

I've started a blog.

Maybe I will get rich when this is over, and it is published.

Ooh, Stressy that would be a marvellous idea.

I am taking notes here.

Just do the damned ironing, put a play on BBC sounds, you will feel so virtuos afterwards

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 13:56

Oh. I feel quite virtuous anyway, without doing the ironing.

It doesn't make me feel anything positive.

Sugarpea123 · 30/03/2020 13:56

That's what body heat is for :D

GrolliffetheDragon · 30/03/2020 13:58

I got my iron out for the first time in five years and it didn't work. I've not replaced it.

Step away from the ironing! Just fold and put away the clothes then do something fun.

Dozer · 30/03/2020 13:58

I NEVER iron and have been similarly tempted, out of desperation for some mindless practical tasks to reduce anxiety of an evening. Instead I sorted out some of the DCs’ plastic tat.

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 14:04

There are so many activities which are more tempting than tackling the ironing pile

I have just remembered that I need to put my bottles of shampoo in order of size.

OP posts:
BananaBooBoo · 30/03/2020 14:06

I had a pile of tops I couldn't wear for 6 months as they were in the ironing pile. I'm now having to consider actually ironing them. Damn you Coronavirus

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 14:08

BananaBooBoo

Couldn't you wear them anyway? Some people think that body heat is as efficacious as ironing.

OP posts:
TheDogsMother · 30/03/2020 14:10

Don't do it !!! You need to save it for something to do tomorrow

TheMustressMhor · 30/03/2020 15:30

I suppose I could count how many pouches of cat food we've got.

OP posts:
FraughtwithGin · 30/03/2020 15:44

Please do the ironing. It is so satisfying. Then you can put everything away, neatly folded.

Qwertygert · 30/03/2020 15:44

I don't mind the ironing! x

hellsbellsmelons · 30/03/2020 15:47

Couldn't tell you the last time I used an iron.
But I'm single, don't buy clothes that crease, have no young kids and basically, couldn't give a fuck!
However, some stuff, especially with kids does need ironing.
But kids aren't in school so there is no need!
Chill out, nice drink, wine or hot chocolate and watch something good on TV.
Sort out your carrier bags.

lentenwonder · 30/03/2020 15:50

I put on a dress from my ironing pile today - seriously, who are you impressing wearing ironed clothes? If there was ever a perk to self isolating not ironing must be it!

madcatladyforever · 30/03/2020 15:50

I love ironing, love it, there is nothing more satisfying than sleeping under a crisp newly washed ironed duvet cover and pillows.
Also it means I have plenty to do at all times.

Serenity45 · 30/03/2020 15:53

I feel you OP - cleaned the inside of my windows the other day!

GinnyStrupac · 30/03/2020 15:55

Ironing?! Some pps on this thread must be unwell. Have you got a temperature, OP, to make you consider ironing?

Menaimum · 30/03/2020 16:03

I would rather wash my net curtains (which I don't have) than iron (which I won't do)
