I'm Aussie and I use wee all the time. Both in the context of small and in the context of using the toilet!

josbd · 31/03/2020 21:32

ye wee bawbag! Ye ken whit we're oan aboot!

Mumof21972 · 31/03/2020 22:49

It's not just for small/little, there are multiple variations, depending on the sentence it's used in. It's never 'overused'. We love it so much, we even double it up when we go to the toilet, it's a wee wee 😊

Usernamerequired · 31/03/2020 23:09

Awk bless your wee heart

grannieali · 31/03/2020 23:33

And maybe some of you don't know that the Scots dialect is a recognized language with a dictionary of it's own. As has Ulster Scots. Both use many of the words Chaucer knew. Received English really developed ou The t of the English used in the Oxford region, or so I am told. The North is another place on both sides of the present border.

Bairn is East Coast. Central Belt and West are weans. I’m not getting the weans/wains thing is it not just that it’s spelled weans and pronounced wains?

WanderingTrolley1 · 01/04/2020 04:53
Hmm
Hamouchi · 01/04/2020 05:14

It's what I'm thinking as well. I'm not British the only meaning of wee I knew was the need to urinate. But I discovered a new thing 😁

Mypathtriedtokillme · 01/04/2020 05:24

Also a kiwi use it as both Wee as in small and wee as in going for a Pee.

User3billion · 01/04/2020 08:30

@Lincolnfield I was born & raised in Yorkshire - rarely hear the use of the word "wee" other than needing to visit the loo & I've never in my life heard the word "chabbie" referring to a baby or otherwise.

Lincolnfield · 01/04/2020 09:17

@User3billion you should come to Sheffield then! You’d hear it everywhere. 😁
