Thinking that two dog walkers were extremely disrespectful?

Because I haven’t been able to go out a lot recently, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the garden.

I was out this morning and was pruning my roses (I haven’t had the time to recently) when my next door neighbour came walking by with her german shepherd. I said hi, and she stopped and began asking me how I was. As we began talking she moved onto my lawn. Her dog kept tugging on the lead, and since I wasn’t really in the mood for conversation with this lady, I made the side comment “Oh, looks like she wants to get going” or something similar. Instead of leaving, however, my neighbour unclipped the leash and let the dog off.

A few moments later, another dog walker came by with her two labradors, and of course my neighbour’s dog went into a frenzy, barking and jumping. One of the labradors went up to my neighbour, and of course being a dog person she began petting it and praising the dog.

This lead the owner to let the dogs socialise. They were running around - on MY lawn - sniffing each others buttholes and barking. It was truly gross.

This other dog walker joined in our conversation. Her dogs, on the other hand didn’t seem to be as well trained, and went around and squatted and peed about twice each. It was truly disgusting and I felt so embarrassed for the dog owner. Luckily for her, she didn’t seem to notice.

It just doesn’t seem right that someone could be so oblivious to the behaviour of their dogs though.

I don’t want DS stepping in any dog puddles while he’s out playing. What if they had poo’d? Who’d have cleaned it up? Its just so gross.

They were very rude.
However urine is sterile so you don't need to worry about it being 'gross'

Boireannachlaidir · 29/03/2020 22:28

Pruning roses? In March? Confused

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 22:28

lol you seem shocked at dogs and dog behaviour

dogs poo and wee just like you do!! its not 'gross' or 'disgusting' anymore than it is when your kid does it!

she should have just walked on away and not let her dog off the lead

Escapeistheonlyoption · 29/03/2020 22:29

Creative fiction class?

tilder · 29/03/2020 22:31

You do realise you can't criticise dogs on MN?

It's like parking threads. Or loo brushes. Or how often you wash your towels.

Dogs rule. Criticism not allowed.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2020 22:31

If you can remember where it was, I would go out and throw water over where they pee'd to dilute it. My dogs pee destroyed my lawn.

They were rude, I'd never let my dog run about and pee on a neighbours lawn.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 22:31

i wondered about the roses too....you say you've spent considerable amount of time in the garden recently....and then say you haven't had time? makes no sense

ItsGoingTibiaK · 29/03/2020 22:32

@Boireannachlaidir

Late winter (February or March) is often a good time for pruning roses but see the individual rose profiles above for more specific timing.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 22:32

creative fiction?? no way!

Macncheeseballs · 29/03/2020 22:33

Haha veterneri - so you'd be happy to be pissed on by a dog Hmm

HasaDigaEebowai · 29/03/2020 22:33

Monty pruned his roses last week so nothing wrong in pruning roses

Escapeistheonlyoption · 29/03/2020 22:33

creative fiction?? no way!

Dont you mean, NO way!

Cherrysoup · 29/03/2020 22:34

Why didn’t you just tell them to get to fuck? I do not want neighbours space invading currently. I’d be cross at the dogs peeing on my lawn, too.

Macncheeseballs · 29/03/2020 22:34

And I don't need to worry about dogs pissing on my recycling bins that come back inside the house?

1Morewineplease · 29/03/2020 22:35

Yep! Pruned my roses this month.
As to the dogs... sadly typical. Dogs really ought to be on leads , for now, and not allowed to socialise.

user1495884620 · 29/03/2020 22:35

Veterinari Just because urine is sterile, it doesn't mean it isn't gross.

Escapeistheonlyoption · 29/03/2020 22:36

my neighbour unclipped the leash

Were they in the USA?

LovingLola · 29/03/2020 22:36

Not you again !!!’

Eckhart · 29/03/2020 22:37

Someone was on your property, uninvited, doing something you didn't want them to do, and you're asking MN if that was rude?

Did you say anything to either dog owner? Or are you not that worried about your son?

LovingLola · 29/03/2020 22:37

There was a Labrador piss troll here a while back
Looks like he/she has returned
I’ve reported the thread

JKScot4 · 29/03/2020 22:37

You were embarasssed for a dog owner because her dog peed?
Do you think the dog should have asked to
use your loo?
You’re very odd 🙄

UnfinishedSymphon · 29/03/2020 22:38

You felt embarrassed for the owner that her dog weed, it was truly disgusting, it was gross....very dramatic. It obviously shouldn't have happened which it didn't but your reaction and words are very OTT

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 22:38

thats a shit story.....please don't think about publishing that!!! its disgusting and gross..

LemonScentedStickyBat · 29/03/2020 22:38

“Urine is sterile” is meaningless. It stinks and destroys lawns.

GulliBelle · 29/03/2020 22:38

You were trimming your bush in your front garden, and these two doggers joined you - have I got that right?
