Due to an increasing amount of time stuck inside or queuing for milk and bread I thought I'd share some of the idiots I've seen since lockdown started.

Man walking his dog in a gas mask, dog had a face mask on too.

Family of 6 shopping in asda, all had a trolley to comply with the 1 trolley 1 person rule.

Woman in asda spraying dettol on loose carrots before she packed them.

What else have we seen?

OP posts:
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 29/03/2020 11:54

woman in sainsbury's picking up and sniffing every bloody courgette in the box before selecting one. (I have whinged about this in other threads, still cross about it!!)

Group of women loitering in the park, can't possibly have all been from the same household, all wearing facemasks. Numerous children around them (no facemasks) playing/wrestling with each other. Most of women pulling down facemasks to smoke cigarettes, one of them without cigarette taking off her facemask to share a drag on friends cigarette.
Playground part of park has now closed, and I haven't seen the idiot women again.

Later in week, mini tesco now restricting number of customers in store.
Dopey idiot spending five minutes on the phone, blocking access the the bread section for everyone, chatting on mobile to her friend.

City of London police; dozens crowded hanging around outside station, very little social distancing going on.

Saturdayk · 29/03/2020 11:56

Haha thank you for this thread! Needed these laughs today.
I saw a woman in Tesco with two golf clubs, holding them at the base of her hips and extended them horizontally to create space around her so no one could get close to her!

BreathlessCommotion · 29/03/2020 11:56

@1forsorrow I wonder if you are my mum, I have no idea what my dd does with toilet rolls, but we get through tonnes with her at home. I have tried helping her, showing how to use it most effectively (not even skimping). But rolls of the stuff.

I put it down to her sensory issues, meaning she wipes and wipes, but also I know she will only use a tissue once (germ/clean issue) so maybe she's doing the same. She also leaves it half unravelled round the bathroom like an andrex puppy.

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 11:57

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe are you aware how hypocritical you are coming across? so you're now judging people who watched Jeremy Kyle show and are putting them all in the same box? wow.

secondly, upset because someone has started a thread like this yet you're not upset that people are actually endangering others by engaging in muppety behaviour ie. going out when they dont need to like the person on facebook and the 6 family members in asda.

please read what you write before posting and what point you are trying to prove.

oh and the only thing I said that can be accused of finger pointing is a dog wearing a face mask because frankly its ridiculous and unfair on the poor dog who is having its face restricted. so desperate to be politically correct you're overlooking reason

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2020 12:02

I was posting about the thread, so to the OP rather than you, cherrybun, if you hadn't addressed me I wouldn't have posted to you at all, I hadn't even read your post(s).

Jeremy Kyle is a vile presenter of a vile (now thankfully) defunct programme that attracted people who like to watch people being pointed and laughed at. Much like this thread. Pointing out the similarity there, call hypocrisy if you like, I expect it smarts.

Let's leave it there, shall we? Or rather, I will. This thread isn't one that I want to carry on posting on.

Sparklfairy · 29/03/2020 12:05

Walking back from a supermarket past a big landmark/tourist attraction (which is now obviously closed). Woman in a car comes steaming past me, makes a sharp turn and squeals up to the locked gates and just... leans on her horn.

Security guard comes out, says it's shut. She doesn't move. Argument ensues. He radios for backup, police arrive moments later. After a short discussion, she winds her window back up and turns her radio on full blast, sitting there in protest.

More police arrive. None are really sure what to do. She has an elderly relative with her in the car and occasionally you can here her cackling maniacally and generally making a show of herself.

I couldn't help but stand and watch from afar it was the most interesting thing that had happened all week

She then escalated the situation by tearing up pieces of paper (maybe a fine from the police?) and throwing it out of the window and sunroof at them. Everytime they tried to engage, ask her to turn the music down so they could talk to her she faced front and just ignored them. They tried good cop, bad cop, rationalising, everything. I heard that she had arrived the previous day as well and turned away Shock

Eventually they persuade the passenger to unlock the doors and remove them from the car and put them in the back of the police vehicle. They then try to remove the driver, and she starts screaming at the top of her lungs and she leans on her horn for over a minute as she struggles against the policemen.

Honestly sounded like someone being murdered. Then she started sobbing uncontrollably and refusing to get out of the car.

After an hour of this shitshow I had to leave. I couldn't watch any more. It was honestly the strangest, most entitled dramatics I have ever seen.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/03/2020 12:05

What’s idiotic about going out with a mask on in this. Confused. Dogs can get it too, can’t they. Talk about not being able to win

watermelongalore · 29/03/2020 12:07

On the subject of a poster up trhead saying people are obviously walking the dog for the first time.

It is probanly not what the poster meant, but this is a total bug bear of mine.

we have two nosy neighbours on either side. We have three dogs. I took our dogs to the park yesterday and nosy neighbour 1 called out 'nice to see you take them for a walk for a change'.

Um- all well and good. BUT, DH does the school run in the morning as he is retired. he puts DCs x2 and dogs x 3 in the car, drops DCs off and takes dogs over the Downs for an hour or more. Every day. Except for Sundays when we do a dog walk and pub run.

I was a bit nonplussed but it has really pissed me off. I thought of saying ' Just because you do not see something does not mean it does not happen'.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/03/2020 12:08

It's wrong to say that people didn't exercise before. They may not have gone out specifically for exercise but they would have been active in their daily life, going to work, moving around at work, etc. I've gone from an average of around 13k steps a day to around 4k. It's a massive drop in activity.

sueelleker · 29/03/2020 12:09

These people shall be declared to be covidiots
I like "covidiot". We'll probably see it in the OED next year.

catecake · 29/03/2020 12:11

Two blokes in Tesco, doing the blokey hug pat each other on the back thing.

"You alright John, haven't seen you for a while?"

"No mate, I've been right poorly, had this chesty thing, thought I'd come out for some air" Confused

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 12:13

How is it 'lighthearted' to sneer at other people and call them 'muppets'? Only to a certain type of person perhaps..

because I was the one who called this thread lighthearted and who the OP responded to when she called it lighthearted.

I don't particularly care about Jeremy Kyle show I'm just saying you just judged loads of people whilst being offended on here for the same behaviour.

yes do leave it there because your points make no sense.

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

The World Health Organisation issued updated information on Thursday 13 March saying "at present there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare,” theWorld Organisation for Animal Healthhas said.

Hmm
frumpety · 29/03/2020 12:13

Do you think it would be OK to offer my exercise sessions to someone who wants to actually use them ? Wink

motherindenial · 29/03/2020 12:14

My calorie count is sadly very much 'up' in the last two weeks. Despite my noble resolve to lose weight, do yoga at home, go for three mile walks, I'm miserably failing and comfort eating...plus the red wine in the evening probably doesn't help...though as I've called myself 'in denial' if I really had to get my head round everything that is going on, I'm not sure I could...

I'm going to have a go at a ginger beer plant instead, at least i can talk to the blessed thing, and wont have to go out to the shop for 'essentials'....?

only human after all...

Think I will use myself as the muppet, I have rubbing alcohol with me at all times and use it on everything I touch! Shopping cart> dose of RA. Shopping basket> another does. Button to push> dosing that one up as well! And when finished, my hands get another dose after, packing my shopping, another dose. Leaving shop and in fresh air, well why not another dose. If someone followed me around they would think I was addicted to the stuff! I use soap and water at home but my hands are feeling the pain now, looks like I have red gloves on as my hands are not reacting well to this abuse.

ShineYourLight2 · 29/03/2020 12:15

Man driving IN his car - wearing a crash helmet.

whirlwinds · 29/03/2020 12:15

does> dose*

Soubriquet · 29/03/2020 12:16

Sparklfairy it does sound like she may have mental issues to be fair.

motherindenial · 29/03/2020 12:18

oh dear thats the non-alcholic version...

Eleanorrrelephant · 29/03/2020 12:18

The World Health Organisation issued updated information on Thursday 13 March saying "at present there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus. Therefore, there is no justification in taking measures against companion animals which may compromise their welfare
I thought a cat had been diagnosed with it a couple of days ago ?

Sparklfairy · 29/03/2020 12:19

@Soubriquet I did think that by the end. At first she was just a stroppy cow, but it clearly got out of hand. The police handled it very well and I think if she was just a belligerent arse they would have just arrested her so there was probably something else going on.

YouTheCat · 29/03/2020 12:22

I haven't seen any craziness. I'm in Newcastle. Everywhere is quiet. Next to no one on the buses. The local coop is spreading people out and everyone is being reasonable about it as far as I can see.

I'll probably go out for a walk after lunch, to stretch my legs whilst we still can.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 29/03/2020 12:23

Man walking his dog in a gas mask, dog had a face mask on too.

I am with him on this😂 Not just because of the virus. Summer is coming and with it a lots of people with a clear lack of personal hygiene 😑

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 12:24

@Eleanorrrelephant

this is the most up to date info on the pdsa website:
Does my pet need to wear a mask?

No, putting a mask on your pet isn’t something we’d recommend. Wearing a face mask could be distressing for pets and may affect their ability to breathe normally, particularly in flat-faced breeds.

so even if a cat has detected levels of the virus it is still unfair to put a mask on an animal ffs
