To tell you about the muppets I've seen

Due to an increasing amount of time stuck inside or queuing for milk and bread I thought I'd share some of the idiots I've seen since lockdown started.

Man walking his dog in a gas mask, dog had a face mask on too.

Family of 6 shopping in asda, all had a trolley to comply with the 1 trolley 1 person rule.

Woman in asda spraying dettol on loose carrots before she packed them.

What else have we seen?

OP posts:

We are lucky enough to be near a park. It also has a separate running track. I understand the running track gets busy but now people are running all round the walking paths in the not-huge park, not moving for anyone, not going onto the grass.

So if you’re elderly and need to stick to the flat path and move carefully, you have your space and calm invaded by panting runners, not to mention the risk of being mown down.

Why can’t runners use roads if communal spaces are busy?

Justaboy · 29/03/2020 11:39

"I hope you get the virus and die!"

Now anyone saying that to a shop worker?, well lets see if we can bring back this medival idea of the village stocks?

Yep! a set of them in the car park and a tub of over mellow old fruit for other customers to indicate their displeasure?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2020 11:39

How is it 'lighthearted' to sneer at other people and call them 'muppets'? Only to a certain type of person perhaps..

bumblingbovine49 · 29/03/2020 11:40

Man walking his dog in a gas mask, dog had a face mask on too
How is this hurting you or anyone else. Fine it it allays his anxiety.

Family of 6 shopping in asda, all had a trolley to comply with the 1 trolley 1 person rule.
This is CFery I agree

"Woman in asda spraying dettol on loose carrots before she packed them*
Again, how is this hurting you ( as long as she buys the Dettol carrots) or contributing to any spread of CV?

So in 2 out of the 3 cases you outlined I disagree with you

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 11:40

@EverdeRose dont take it personally, people are bored and all jump on the bandwagon when they start seeing a pile on

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/03/2020 11:40

What an ignorant comment. Who are you to decide if he needs the mobility scooter or not?

MintyMabel. The poster didn’t say anything about a mobility scooter. You’ve just assumed, wrongly it would seem.

MaJoady · 29/03/2020 11:41

I drove to the supermarket this week and decided to drive through our usually quite touristy town. Usually I'd avoid and drive further around the edge because the amount of visitors means traffic in the centre is awful.

I was horrified by the amount of old people were wandering around chatting and shopping Sad There were a few family groups looking like they were out for a walk, but the car parking on the main street was full and people in their 70s+ were popping in and out of m&s, Sainsbury's, Tesco Extra, Boots without a care in the world. So frustrating!

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 11:41

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe hmm you dont think my example was someone being a muppet?? interesting

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 11:42

or a family of 6 going to asda when they've specifically been told one member should go at a time if possible?

kinda looks like you're looking for reasons to be offended

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2020 11:43

I didn't even read it, cherrybun, the fact that you're on board with the OP says it all. Not interesting.

Boobooboo84 · 29/03/2020 11:44

The horrible judgement seeping out from some people. That’s my experience of muppets. Perfectly evident on this thread.

For example...

@EverdeRose

I overlook a field and I'm enjoying watching all the people who seem to think the 1 hour of exercise is mandatory.
The amount of people I've seen riding bikes or running who have obviously never done it before, I think I watched one woman fall off her massively oversized bike 10 times, she was wearing the amazing get up of a child's helmet, a pain of shin pads and flip flops.

This woman is trying. She’s not a gym goes or regular exercise but she’s out, off her arse and trying. And this poster sits, watched the woman hurts herself and feels enjoys it.

PinkiOcelot · 29/03/2020 11:44

@MintyMabel who the hell mentioned mobility scooter? Do you just fancy being offended today?!!
I haven’t really seen anyone but some of these are quite funny. Wonder where that bloke got his gas mask.

Dogman2020 · 29/03/2020 11:44

Last Saturday evening I checked the main library in town's opening times and saw it was open the following day - wanted to stock up on a few books to read for the upcoming lockdown.

So I turn up on the Sunday and see a few people waiting outside, thinking id got there a little early I sat in my car to wait until I saw people going in.

Instead I watched at least 3 arguments in the space of 15 minutes about how the website had said it opened at 10 - it was now 12 and a cleaner telling them that due to the virus they didnt have enough staff to open - 1 man screaming at the woman that she was an arrogant bitch and no wonder people kick off at her all the time for the way she speaks to people.

All she'd said was there was a massive worldwide crisis at the moment and maybe there were more important things than opening a library to contend with. This virus has brought out the worst in some people.

cherrybunx0 · 29/03/2020 11:46

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe hilarious. still meeting up with friends and then posting on facebook stay home. save lives. is the absolute definition of being a muppet.

family of 6 going to asda and all pushing around one trolley when weve been told only one should go if possible is again being a muppet Hmm

maybe you should read what people have said before trying to call them out on their comments........you run the risk of looking like, dare I say it, a muppet.

Boobooboo84 · 29/03/2020 11:47

My point was only that there was a woman struggling to ride a bike dressed very strangely and wearing flip flops. Why on earth flip flops, surely any shoe other than a stiletto would have been more appropriate.

Because she’s new to it.
Next time (presuming that no one laughed at her in person), she won’t wear fit flops.

Don’t be so bloody quick to judge.
There are some benefits to people social isolating. People like you are inside rather than spreading your negativity outside.

swishthecat · 29/03/2020 11:49

people in their 70s+ were popping in and out of m&s, Sainsbury's, Tesco Extra, Boots without a care in the world.

How else are they going to get the things they need? No supermarket deliveries for love nor money.

OlaEliza · 29/03/2020 11:49

I agree it's stupid to be out when you don't normally exercise, when everyone should be staying at home for anything other than essentials. I also think it's stupid to be out exercising even if you used to anyway. There are plenty of things you can do at home.

JamesNesbittsBrows · 29/03/2020 11:50

Isn't there enough wrong in the world to go a bit easier on judging people for running or biking to cope with it?

Makeitgoaway · 29/03/2020 11:50

"This virus has brought out the worst in some people." Yes, intense stress will do that.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2020 11:51

You carry on with your goading and pointless finger-pointing, cherrybun, you're in good company as this site is full of the same sort of people missing Jeremy Kyle.

I don't read posts on FB, I do post here though and didn't think that the site was comparable but it actually is becoming the same - full of curtain twitchers and bored people wetting themselves to talk about other people and judge and/or make fun of them.

I'll post what I want within guidelines thanks.

Eleanorrrelephant · 29/03/2020 11:51

The amount of people I've seen riding bikes or running who have obviously never done it before
I’m actually really happy to see more people outdoors doing exercise. I think it’s great and long may it continue!

YgritteSnow · 29/03/2020 11:52

Yes, intense stress will do that.

Indeed. Still need to be told when they've gone too far though.

scaryreading · 29/03/2020 11:54

Perhaps it also gives us time to reflect on how we were & what we can do in future

It was really weird at the supermarket yesterday and it will take some getting used to

swishthecat · 29/03/2020 11:54

Eleanorrrelephant exactly. Many people may have been running themselves ragged for years, working, long commutes, family life etc and haven't had the time to do much exercise.
